Xiao Mu

Xiao Mu

Xu Xi looked at the two words on Xiao Mu's store and was stunned for several seconds.

Is Xiao Mu not planning to reopen the store? When I came to see her before, Xiao Mu was still cleaning the store and was already preparing to reopen.

Why are you suddenly transferring this store?

Xu Xi felt something was wrong and took out her phone to call Xiao Mu again. The call still didn't go through. Xu Xi was a little worried, so she decided to take Chen Shuning to Xiao Mu's house to look for him.

Arriving at Xiao Mu's house, Xu Xi rang the doorbell. Unexpectedly, it was Xiao Mu who opened the door. She was wearing a set of home clothes, and her hair was tied up in a messy bun. It was obvious that she had never combed it. Her face was lifeless, and there were obvious dark circles under her eyes.

Xu Xi blinked and was stunned in surprise for two seconds before speaking.

"Xiao Mu, are you at home?"

Xiao Mu just shrugged. "What else?"

Xu Xi frowned. She didn't know what happened, but she saw that something was wrong with Xiao Mu, so she asked:

"What's wrong with you? Why are you like this? You didn't even answer my calls."

As soon as Xu Xi finished speaking, someone's voice was heard from inside the room. It was Xiao Mu's mother's voice.

"Who's here? Why are you standing at the door for so long without coming in?"

Xiao Mu looked back at the direction of the living room, then turned back and said something helplessly to Xu Xi.

"My parents found out about the fire at the barbecue restaurant last time, and they're putting me in solitary confinement now. They confiscated my phone."

Xu Xi recalled the last time they cleaned up Xiao Mu’s barbecue restaurant that caught fire. The damage was quite serious, but they didn’t tell Xiao Mu’s parents. How did they find out?

"So now..." Xu Xi didn't know what to say for a moment. This matter was quite serious. If she didn't tell them, they would definitely be angry.

Xiao Mu looked behind Xu Xi, then back at Xu Xi. "Come in and sit down."

After Xiao Mu finished speaking, she leaned towards Xu Xi and Chen Shuning and whispered to them:

"Please help me persuade my mother. If I keep locking her up like this, she'll go crazy."

Xu Xi frowned, gave her an expression that said "I'll try my best", and then took Chen Shuning in.

When she was in school, she also came to Xiao Mu's house to play. At that time, she and Xiao Mu got along well, so she would come often, and Xiao Mu would often come to her house to play. Their parents knew each other.

When Xu Xi arrived home, she greeted her first. "Auntie, long time no see. How are you doing recently?"

When Xiao Mu's mother saw her, a small smile appeared on her face. "You haven't come to our house to play for a long time. Why did you come here suddenly today?"

Xu Xi spoke the truth. "I called Xiao Mu but he didn't answer, so I was a little worried and came here."

After hearing this, Xiao Mu's mother sighed softly. "I put her phone away. You don't know what she did a while ago. It pissed me off."

Xu Xi secretly glanced at Xiao Mu who was sitting next to her, and felt a little guilty because she was also hiding this matter.

She pretended not to know and asked, "What's wrong?"

Xiao Mu's mother told Xiao Mu everything about the fire in the barbecue restaurant, blaming her for lying to her. She had started a business without telling her family, lost hundreds of thousands of dollars, and almost lost all their pension money.

"Is that so?"

Xu Xi was completely shocked when she heard the last part. She looked at Xiao Mu in surprise. This wasn't just a secret from her own parents, this was a secret from everyone.

She frowned, waiting for Xiao Mu to say something, but Xiao Mu looked guilty and said nothing, as if she had already agreed with what her mother said.

Xu Xi asked her. "Xiao Mu?"

Xiao Mu said helplessly, "My shop caught fire. What can I do? Accidents like this are beyond my control. I spent hundreds of thousands on the initial renovations, and then I renovated it again after the fire, which cost tens of thousands more. The shop next door also suffered damage, and I have to compensate them. It's a lot, but accidents don't happen every day. I can't stop doing this again because of this one incident."

Xu Xi thought it made sense and nodded, saying, "Auntie, what Xiao Mu said is correct. In fact, her store has been renovated and reopened. She just needs to be more careful in the future. I've been there for barbecue with my friend before. Her barbecue restaurant is doing quite well. If it weren't for the accident, it might not take long for her to make back her investment."

Xiao Mu's mother: "Is that what I'm angry about? I'm angry that she handled such a big thing without telling us. Do you know where she got the money to open the shop? She took out a loan, using our house as collateral for the loan. If she keeps losing money like this, where are we going to live in the future? We'll just have to rent a house. Or sleep under a bridge, Li Zhimu."

Xu Xi was once again shocked by Xiao Mu's actions. Originally, as a friend, she wanted to stand on Xiao Mu's side, but now after hearing what her aunt said, she couldn't help but want to complain about Xiao Mu.
