Chapter 15, Female Supporting Character in a Historical Fiction

For Yu Wanwan, university life was nothing special.

Every day, I went to class and came home in the same routine, without any excitement, even more so than when I was in Maolin Brigade.

Fortunately, Yu Wanwan was already used to this mundane life and adapted well.

That day, as usual, she packed her things, smiled and said goodbye to her classmates, and left the school.

Xu Qingzhou didn't come to school today. He took Yang Qiang somewhere, and she didn't bother to ask.

Since Xu Qingzhou didn't come, Yu Wanwan had no choice but to take the bus home.

There is a bus route near Kyoto University, but you have to go through a small alley to get to the bus stop.

Yu Wanwan, carrying her schoolbag, walked slowly down the alley, sighing all the while.

It seems like it's time to own a car of my own.

But before that...

Yu Wanwan stopped and turned slightly to glance behind her.

Not far behind her, there were several boys who stopped as well when they saw her stop.

Yu Wanwan turned around, leaned against the wall, and tilted her head to look at the group of people.

There were about ten of them, and they were dressed fairly cleanly. They were all tall and strong, and even the shortest one looked to be about 1.8 meters tall.

The group paused for only a moment before continuing to laugh and joking as they stepped forward.

"Sister, why are you looking at us like that?"

"Hahaha, Brother Meng, what a question! Sister must be blown away by how handsome we are!"

"Yeah! How about it, sis? Want to come and have some fun with us?"

Most girls, faced with such teasing, would probably either turn pale and want to run away, or be both ashamed and anxious.

Yu Wanwan was no ordinary person. Not only was she unafraid, but she also showed no shyness. From beginning to end, the curve of her lips never changed. She just stared at them gently, as if she couldn't understand what they were saying.

The boy who was leading the group, called Brother Meng, frowned, finding something rather strange.

Before he could say anything, someone reached out and tried to touch her face.

"Look how pretty you are, I bet a lot of people like you, right?"

"yes!"

Yu Wanwan neither dodged nor avoided the question; her smile deepened, and she responded with a cheerful "yes."

The next instant, the hand that reached out to her was grasped by a pale white hand the moment it touched her face.

"ah!"

The boy was thrown over the shoulder and slammed to the ground, unable to get up.

Yu Wanwan clapped her hands, straightened up, and smiled even more sweetly.

"So, you're not qualified to ask me out."

It happened so suddenly that Meng Ge and the others hadn't even had time to react before the boy was thrown out.

Yu Wanwan turned her head to look at the group of boys.

"Do you guys also want to ask me out?"

Her eyes were clear and pure, and her whole being exuded an aura of innocence and harmlessness.

The wailing sounds coming from the ground made her innocent and harmless appearance seem so strange.

A gentle breeze blew in from the alley entrance. Despite it being broad daylight, the group of boys inexplicably got goosebumps and none of them dared to move for a moment.

Someone swallowed hard as they looked at the boy who was lying on the ground, unable to get up after several attempts.

"Brother Meng... shall we continue?"

Meng Ge was actually a little hesitant to back out, but after being asked that question, he no longer wanted to.

If he just leaves like this, won't people say he's afraid of a woman?

Where does that leave his face? How is he going to ever show his face again?

Brother Meng gritted his teeth, took the lead, and charged forward, swinging his fists.

"She's just a brat! There are so many of us, what are we afraid of! Let's go!"

With the first person taking the lead, the inexplicable eeriness dissipated. The teenagers exchanged glances and then charged forward, yelling and shouting.

Yu Wanwan sighed, put her hands on her hips, rubbed her arms and moved her feet, and without saying a word, turned and ran!

"...Wanwan, you just ran away like that?"

nonsense!

She was just a weak, pitiful, and helpless little thing.

Do you really think she's like those warmongers who would roll up their sleeves and get to work?

If we don't run, we'll really fight them!

It's so tiring, okay?

[The last sentence is the key point!]

Yu Wanwan snorted, didn't waste any more words with Dao Guo, and ran away as fast as she could.

Her running away completely baffled Meng Ge and his group.

They never expected that the person who had been so imposing just moments before, who had knocked someone down in one move, would turn around and run away!

Brother Meng wasn't stupid; he quickly understood why.

The man had just made that show of being about to attack; he was clearly trying to trick them into leaving!

Fortunately, he didn't actually leave, otherwise he would have been laughed at for the rest of his life!

"Damn it! Chase after them!"

Brother Meng cursed and rallied his men, who then gave chase.

Let alone in this era, even in later generations, seeing such a situation, no one would interfere; at most, they would call the police.

But in this era, even landlines were not yet widespread, let alone mobile phones, so they didn't even have the means to help call the police.

A group of people chased each other out of the alley and ran wildly down the street, attracting the attention of passersby.

Despite their curiosity, no one dared to come out and watch the spectacle; they all avoided the group and hid away.

After running for two or three blocks, the group of boys were already out of breath, but Yu Wanwan, who was running at the front, still didn't stop.

The distance between them continued to widen until Yu Wanwan made a turn and disappeared in a flash.

Some of them were too exhausted to run any further and collapsed onto the ground.

"No! I...I can't run anymore...Damn it...What did this woman eat to grow up like this...she can run so fast!"

Not to mention them, even Brother Meng was completely disoriented from running. However, he fared better than the others and didn't fall down. He just supported himself on his knees, bent over, and kept panting heavily.

"Brother Meng...have you noticed...this doesn't seem to be the way home for her?"

Meng Ge was stunned for a moment, looked around, and his face suddenly turned ugly.

It wasn't until this moment that he finally realized that a group of grown men hadn't been able to outrun a woman and had been led astray by her all the way!

He grew angrier the more he thought about it, and kicked a tree next to him.

"damn it!"

But he was too tired. When he kicked the tree, it was fine, but he lost his balance and fell to the ground.

The others didn't dare to laugh either, and all came forward to help him.

Just then, a pair of clean cloth shoes appeared in front of him.

Meng paused for a moment, then looked up and saw the woman who had been walking them for several blocks, looking at him with a smile on her face, without blushing or panting.

"Hey, can't run anymore?"

She put her schoolbag on the ground, rubbed her wrist, and still had that harmless and gentle look.

"Now, let's talk about who sent you here."

Meng Ge's heart skipped a beat, realizing something.

But it was too late. Yu Wanwan easily dealt with the group of boys who were already sore and weak from running.

In less than a minute, a whole bunch of them were lying on the ground, their faces bruised and swollen, looking utterly pathetic.

The boy who made the first move and was thrown over Yu Wanwan's shoulder was the one who got beaten the worst.

Seeing his miserable state, the others were still shaken and secretly relieved that they hadn't had a chance to lay a hand on her in the alley.

Yu Wanwan sat on her schoolbag, holding a twig in her hand, poking Meng Ge repeatedly.

"Who sent you to cause me trouble?"

Meng Ge froze, his eyes still filled with terror.

He hadn't forgotten that it was this very limp branch that had struck him, causing him so much pain that he couldn't muster the strength to resist.

He couldn't understand why she ran away just now if she was so good at fighting.

But now is not the time to talk about this. Brother Meng swallowed and turned his head away.

I don't understand what you're saying!

Yu Wanwan smiled, not minding at all, her tone relaxed, as if she were chatting with him.

"Don't understand? Then why are you chasing after me? You can't possibly be after me because I'm pretty and want to ask me out, can you?"

"How are we supposed to chase you if you don't run?!"

"You think I'll run away if you don't chase me?"

Yu Wanwan subconsciously replied, only to realize that she had almost been tricked by him.

She narrowed her eyes, and the soft branch snapped against his arm.

"Hurry up and tell me, I'm in a hurry to get back for dinner!"

Brother Meng gasped in pain and was furious.

"Be reasonable! In the alley, you were the one who started it! We just wanted to get revenge! Who sent us here?!"

"You mean, you followed me from the school gate until you entered the alley, also trying to get revenge?"

Meng nodded subconsciously, but only halfway through did he realize what she was saying. His head froze instantly, and his pupils contracted.

His body trembled slightly as he looked into her smiling eyes, and his scalp began to tingle.

She actually... discovered them so early?

Would she still dare to enter the alley?

Thinking of her terrifying physical strength and the swift and decisive way she beat people, Brother Meng choked up again.

With her abilities, she actually dared to do it!

Meng licked his lips, not daring to meet her gaze again, and stubbornly defended himself.

"Didn't we say from the beginning? We just wanted to ask you out because you're pretty!"

Yu Wanwan was a little worried.

This person is hard to get to talk; he won't say anything even now.

What if they really are just attracted to you because you're good-looking?

Yu Wanwan scoffed lightly.

Then let's send them to their deaths.

Yu Wanwan rested her chin on her hand and pondered for a few seconds.

Do you know what the crime of hooliganism is?

Meng Ge and the others suddenly looked up, breaking out in a cold sweat.

"We didn't do anything to you!"

Yu Wanwan nodded and gave a soft "hmm".

"Who told you that only what you did to me constitutes hooliganism?"

She looked at the group of people and saw that they were all quite young, so she kindly gave them a brief explanation.

“Group fighting, provoking trouble, insulting women or engaging in other hooligan activities, and disrupting public order are all considered hooliganism.”

Seeing the group of people's pupils widen and their faces turn pale with fright, Yu Wanwan nodded in satisfaction.

"Just the fact that so many of you came to ambush me and chased me for several blocks is enough to give you a hard time. After all, more than one person saw you chasing me; there are so many witnesses that I can't even count them all."
