The village chief glanced at them, but his attitude was alright.
Without even glancing at Bai Tiantian and Lu Mengmeng, he said directly to Wei Qishan, "How about this, you two wander around the village."
"Once you've chosen your room, we'll have a villager switch with you."
But the director knew these two were always nagging and causing trouble, so he couldn't say those words out loud and risk offending them.
Otherwise, it's easy to just blow those two up.
After thinking for a moment, he reassured her, "Then I'll go talk to the village chief and see if we can get you a new house."
Wei Qishan and his family of three were naturally overjoyed.
They waited right in front of the director's door, without even moving.
They acted as if they wouldn't leave today unless I got a good house.
Before long, the director arrived with the village chief, who was walking unsteadily with his hands behind his back.
The village chief glanced at them, but his attitude was alright.
Without even glancing at Bai Tiantian and Lu Mengmeng, he said directly to Wei Qishan, "How about this, you two wander around the village."
"Once you've chosen your room, we'll have a villager switch with you."
These outsiders paid well, and the people in their village weren't unreasonable.
These outsiders are only staying for a week anyway, and after that, the house will belong to whoever owns it.
Just give them more money.
The director hesitated for a moment and said, "There are places where people live here. Wouldn't it be inappropriate for us to just ask them to leave as soon as we arrive?"
Although money was given, isn't this disrupting the villagers' lives a bit too much?
The village chief waved his hand, "It's alright. They all welcome you."
Because their village is poor, few people go there.
There aren't many outsiders left who have enough money and are willing to stay here.
If you come once and give so much money, they will definitely treat you well.
After hearing what the village chief said, the director didn't say anything more and took it as tacit agreement.
Upon hearing that he could choose whatever he wanted, Wei Qishan was immediately satisfied.
He then took his wife and children and started wandering around the village.
Even though the muddy ground was dry, it was still uneven, and the three of them wandered around the village, their feet sinking deep into the mud.
The whole village was full of dilapidated houses, except for the houses at the four corners, which looked particularly new.
Although it's not as luxurious and grand as those in big cities, it's at least a house with blue bricks and green tiles.
Wei Qishan touched the house with a strange expression.
Somewhat surprised, he asked, "The whole village is so dilapidated, why are these few houses so new?"
Bai Tiantian raised her hand to smooth her hair and said nonchalantly, "Where aren't there a few nouveau riche?"
Maybe these are the only few wealthy families in the whole village?
Anyway, if they're going to live in a house, they want the best one.
They would never live in any other house that was drafty and infested with insects!
Wei Qishan thought about it and agreed.
"To return home in glory is like wearing fine clothes at night."
Maybe it's someone who left the village, did well outside, and came back to build themselves a nice house.
But if it were him, if he made something of himself outside, he definitely wouldn't come back to live in this wretched place.
Building a nice house here would just mean leaving it there, a complete waste of effort.
Bai Tiantian nonchalantly pulled Lu Mengmeng along, saying happily, "Let's go! Let's go tell them first."
Which of these four houses do you think is the best?
"Mengmeng thinks Aunt Zhang's house is pretty good too!"
It's a bit broken, but the air is really fresh!
Lu Mengmeng felt that none of the four rooms were very good.
She didn't know why, but she always felt that there was a foul smell lingering in those four rooms.
This was far too torturous for a great demon beast like her!
Wei Qishan completely ignored Lu Mengmeng, who had a good house to live in but insisted on living in a dilapidated one.
He chuckled and hugged his wife, not caring about saving face at all, saying, "We'll listen to my wife. Wherever she says is good, we'll stay there."
As for where the little guy wants to live, what does that have to do with him?
Even if he weren't his biological son, he'd only be a bonus from his loving relationship with his wife.
How can a free gift be more important than the product itself?
Bai Tiantian declined to comment on Lu Mengmeng's words.
I just felt that it was the little guy's way of trying to attract adults' attention and make others think that he was unique.
They were given the choice, so naturally they chose the best one.
Why live in an adobe house when there are plenty of brick and tile houses available? Isn't that just asking for trouble?
Seeing that the two of them had reverted to their greasy, lovey-dovey state, no one paid any attention to them.
Lu Mengmeng puffed out her cheeks in anger.
That's outrageous! The world is going to the dogs; even little kids don't respect their elders anymore!!
How dare they all ignore her?!
Wei Qishan happily approached the village chief, whose attitude had been quite friendly earlier.
In a fairly friendly tone, he said, "We think that big tile-roofed house at the west end of the village is quite nice."
"Why don't we stay there?"
After he made this request, all the villagers present looked at him with strange eyes.
The village chief's gaze toward him was even more meaningful.
The director present felt a little embarrassed.
He never expected that Wei Qishan and his wife would be so blunt, choosing the best house in the village right away.
I reckon those houses are inhabited by high-ranking and powerful people in the village.
They immediately asked us to move to another place upon arrival, which was rather impolite.
It's really not appropriate to bring this up with someone like that.
But he was also afraid that since it had all been agreed upon beforehand, Wei Qishan and the others could choose whichever room they wanted.
