Before Lu Mengmeng could figure out what was going on, the two ghosts were already baring their teeth and lunging at Lu Haotian.
Before Lu Mengmeng could make a move, Lu Haotian picked up the stone stool next to him and, following the spells in the Complete Book of Spells, carved a spell on the stone stool that would allow him to touch the ghost.
He smashed the stone bench directly onto the head of the ghost in front of him.
The two ghosts were cunning and manipulative, not combat-oriented.
After being struck by Lu Haotian's spell, the ghost's form became noticeably smaller.
He immediately took off running.
Lu Haotian unleashed another binding spell, which was just enough to restrain the two rabbits, binding the two ghosts tightly.
The two old men were crying and wailing, their faces covered in snot and tears. No matter how you looked at them, they didn't seem very clean.
Lu Mengmeng is now relieved that her tiny baby can take care of himself.
They were also separated by the two dirty old men.
The two old men cried and shouted, "We've given you our lives, what more do you want?"
Lu Haotian looked at them, puzzled.
What do you mean by that?
The two old men sobbed and complained, "The grass you won is the lifespan we won from humans."
You've won all eight hundred-plus blades of grass, and now you're coming to attack us.
That's just like getting a free lunch and then complaining!
Another ghost nearby cried out, "Just let us go like we're nothing, for the sake of extending your lifespan! Aaaaaah! I died a terrible death!"
Lu Mengmeng blinked, instantly understanding.
"Mengmeng said that you originally had yang energy, but now it has suddenly turned into yin energy~"
So it was because you lost everything and became penniless?
They say on TV that nine out of ten gamblers lose!
You can't gamble anymore!
Lu Haotian watched his little devil babbling on and on with righteous indignation.
But it completely missed the point.
The question that should be investigated is whether they were gambling.
They were the ones gambling with their lifespans, okay?!
Lu Haotian frowned. "The mysterious deaths of people at the sanatorium, were all your doing?"
The two ghosts avoided eye contact, not daring to answer.
But just by looking at their expressions, Lu Haotian knew what they were thinking.
He frowned and asked, "What grudge does he have against you?"
"You really want to kill them?"
Lu Mengmeng also sidled up to Lu Haotian, puffing out her cheeks with a look of utter dissatisfaction and resentment, and said, "That's right!"
They clearly had a lot of weeds in their hands, why did you kill them?
Lu Haotian: ……
The serious atmosphere that had just been established was suddenly interrupted by the little bean.
Couldn't she just once be on the right track?
The two ghosts glanced at Lu Haotian, whose face was cold and hard, and then at Lu Mengmeng, who was grinning.
Despite being a cheerful and friendly deer, Lu Mengmeng inexplicably seemed more terrifying to the two ghosts.
I'll answer Lu Mengmeng's question first.
"The grass we gave them was their entire lifespan."
We only win the lifespan that hasn't been used yet.
The grass they left behind represents their lifespan; it's useless to us if we take it.
They died naturally when their lifespan ended.
Another old ghost beside him said, "Yes, yes, that's exactly the point."
She remembered hearing that the man in front of her was the owner of this sanatorium.
I did try to explain myself.
"Actually, we don't want to gamble here with these old men and women."
How many years do you think an old man or woman can live?
"Winning against them is nothing compared to winning against young people."
Lu Haotian frowned and reminded him, "A young security guard also died on the mountain."
The old man nodded.
"That person was indeed young."
But there are so few young people who aren't afraid of being fired!
Your sanatorium is far too strict.
They absolutely forbid staff from participating in gambling.
If that security guard hadn't been a gambling addict, he might have been willing to gamble with us too.
We've never met anyone that young!
Lu Mengmeng's eyes widened in disbelief as she asked, "So you think it's a shame there aren't any fresh cubs for you to absorb your lifespan?"
The two ghosts immediately waved their hands as if they were startled.
"No, no, that's impossible!"
We have always conducted our business in an open, fair, and just manner.
It's all a matter of mutual consent.
I've never stubbornly dragged anyone into playing together.
Lu Haotian, who had just been manipulated by the death aura and was now unable to leave despite winning: ...
Are you sure?
The old man felt a little guilty when he saw Lu Haotian's disdainful look.
He scratched his head and said, "Isn't this your first time?"
People who hang out with scoundrels always have bad luck.
When playing with ghosts, very few people can win.
Throughout the game, no one ever beat us.
Lu Haotian: ……
So their approach is actually quite sophisticated?
They figured out that people and ghosts would have bad luck if they were together, so they deliberately gambled on people's lifespans.
But Lu Haotian felt that he was having a particularly good day.
I always have at least three bombs in my hand.
It would be difficult to lose even if you wanted to.
I've never encountered this situation before when playing poker.
Was he just incredibly lucky today?
Otherwise, if he played with ordinary people today and called the landlord with 20 cards, could he get five bombs?
Seeing that neither of them spoke, the two ghosts cautiously asked, "Is there anything else you want to ask? If not, please let us go!"
