You like me.
Xie Lingqin stirred her sluggish senses, savoring those words for a long time. Then, after confirming again and again, she realized that the Crown Prince meant "you like me," not "I like you."
Xie Lingqin raised her eyes, looked at the Crown Prince, and said with a slightly darkened gaze, "Crown Prince, are you out of your mind?"
Yuwen Yao said in a soft voice, "The book says that a woman will only accept a love token from a man if she is in love with him."
"I don't."
"You have it? You took my dagger."
"Wasn't that a gift from Master Sengyun?"
"The little jade ring on it was a gift from me. You should accept it. It will complement the dagger perfectly."
Upon hearing this, Xie Lingqin recalled the dagger and the jade ring hanging on it, and suddenly looked at the Crown Prince as if he were a pervert, her voice becoming low and hoarse, "Crown Prince, if I have done anything that has caused you to misunderstand, please tell me, and I will correct it."
She didn't want the Crown Prince to misunderstand that she liked him; such a misunderstanding had to be stopped immediately.
"No." The Crown Prince shook his head gently, his expression showing pleasure. After a moment, he sighed slightly. "Xie Lingqin, don't deceive your heart. Liking me isn't a bad thing."
"No, no, no... This is absolutely bad... a bad thing for the Crown Prince. How could I like the Crown Prince, right? In other words, how could I let the Crown Prince misunderstand that I have such feelings for him, right?"
Xie Lingqin felt utterly helpless.
She never imagined that she would be trapped in such a vicious cycle, a cycle that was almost impossible to complain about or explain.
“Otherwise, why would you have gone back to that villa to look for the dagger, Xie Lingqin…” Yuwen Yao clearly didn’t take Xie Lingqin’s words to heart. He flicked his wide sleeves, his expression relaxed and completely understanding. “I know your intentions. And coincidentally, I find you very pleasing to the eye…”
"Stop." Xie Lingqin finally understood, finally understood why the Crown Prince was suddenly acting so strangely.
It turned out that she had gone back to that courtyard specifically to look for the dagger, which caused him to misunderstand.
I made myself perfectly clear at the time, but I never expected that he would still misunderstand.
“Your Highness, firstly, I didn’t look for that dagger intentionally. I just thought that since I was already out of sharp weapons, it would be troublesome to find another one. Also, as I said before, I really don’t want to change things that I’m comfortable with. So, the dagger and the jade ring hanging on it don’t mean that I like you. They have absolutely no relation. So please don’t misunderstand.”
After explaining with a sigh of relief, Xie Lingqin glanced at the vast, dark expanse below the mountain and said, "Your Highness, I really have urgent business to attend to, so I must take my leave."
"Xie Lingqin, I've told you before, there's no need to deceive your own heart."
Xie Lingqin had only taken a few steps when these words suddenly drifted over, almost causing her to stumble and fall to the ground.
Looking back at the Crown Prince, the green hills and the moon were the backdrop, and he was the jade, truly a radiant and unparalleled moonlight. However, his solemn and dignified expression...
Xie Lingqin raised her hand and covered her face.
Although she had to admit that the Crown Prince was indeed handsome, skilled in both literature and martial arts, and possessed an outstanding temperament, any woman would want to throw herself at him. If all the past grievances between the two of them were disregarded, she would also want to throw herself at him.
However, that's definitely not the way to try and catch them.
He didn't think that she liked him or admired him, and he also happened to find her pleasing to the eye, so he decided to give her a chance to make a move on him.
A cool breeze swept by, and Xie Lingqin's mind cleared, but her heart felt so tired.
"Your Highness, farewell."
Xie Lingqin turned and left.
After about the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, Xie Lingqin finally arrived outside the alley and tiptoed into the courtyard.
The courtyard remained quiet.
There was not a sound.
The soft sound of my toes stepping on the fallen leaves on the ground was melodious and pleasing to the ear.
"Sizzle—"
The situation changed abruptly. Xie Lingqin, who had been standing there looking around, suddenly took out a dagger, bent down, and as she stepped back, she struck the spot where she had just been standing.
The sharp swords sparked huge flames as they rubbed against the ground, creating ripples that spread outwards.
Mars, suddenly.
When Xie Lingqin focused her attention again, she saw that in the very center of the courtyard, which had been calm and undisturbed, was a Bagua Taiji formation, and she was in the very center of the formation, watching as sparks spread from the outside in.
Xie Lingqin's expression was cold and resolute. She looked down at the Bagua formation that seemed to be still spinning, and her face turned pale.
This is a formation, and moreover, a formation designed to kill.
"Miss." Tinghai suddenly appeared, but was blocked by the flames. He looked anxious and seemed to want to rush in, but Xie Lingqin waved him off.
"Be careful, it might be a trap. Don't move," Xie Lingqin said, while watching the fire getting closer and closer.
If she hadn't found the escape route within the time it takes to pour a cup of tea, then forget about antidote or revenge; she would have been instantly reduced to ashes.
Xie Lingqin's expression was serious, but she remained calm, striving to find a unique glimmer of hope in this crisis.
Life may often come from the most unexpected places.
Xie Lingqin focused her mind.
The fire is raging here, yet there is no sign of it outside. The flowers, plants, and trees outside the Bagua formation are all perfectly fine, seemingly swaying gently in the breeze, their delicate fragrance filling the air.
Illusion?
Thinking of this, Xie Lingqin made up her mind, made a decisive move, stared ahead for a moment, then closed her eyes and quickly leaped towards the place where the fire was most intense.
"Whoosh."
Almost instantly, Xie Lingqin clearly felt a sudden coolness wash over her body, which had been heated by the fire.
He opened his eyes, turned around, and saw that the ground was spotless, with no trace of the array or the shadow of the flames gone.
