"What do you want my slingshot for?" The Seventh Prince immediately became alert, his little face scrunched up tightly.
Xie Lingqin ignored him, but Tingfeng had already answered, "Reporting to Miss Lingqin, it's in the Seventh Prince's pocket."
"Alright." Xie Lingqin reached out and began searching Yuwen Jie's body.
"What are you doing? Let go! Let go! I'm going to kill you! I'm going to kill you!"
Xie Lingqin ignored her completely, grabbed the slingshot in her hand, and smiled as she looked at Yuwen Jie's angry and resentful little face. "I'm telling you, little brat, at such a young age, your mouth is so sharp and your heart is so cruel. In the future, you will bring disaster to the world. This..." Xie Lingqin raised the slingshot in her hand, "This is the one that flicked my forehead before, right?"
"You... what do you want to do?" No matter how high-ranking, domineering, or willful Yuwen Jie was, he was still just a six or seven-year-old child. He usually relied on the Emperor's favor with Consort Lan and his elder brother, Prince Xian. Not to mention those who were inferior to him, even princes, ministers, and other concubines could only swallow their anger when he teased them. Now, seeing Xie Lingqin skillfully picking up the slingshot and her cold, sinister eyes, he was genuinely afraid. He trembled and tried to hide behind her, but Tingfeng and Zihe had already blocked his way.
"I didn't intend to do anything, it was just an eye for an eye," Xie Lingqin said, taking the bead from Yuwen Jie's jade crown. Then, she stood up, took a step back, turned around, and pointed the jade bead at... Yuwen Yao.
"Miss Lingqin..."
"Miss……"
Just as Zihe and Tingfeng finished speaking, they saw Xie Lingqin's movements shift, aiming directly at the pillars of the palace gate.
The Crown Prince remained standing at the threshold. Even though Tingfeng and Zihe had almost misunderstood each other, he didn't even frown. Instead, his eyes held a deep and tender smile.
Like tiny fragments of light, in that instant, the entire Milky Way and the whole earth were contained in my eyes, and between the earth and the Milky Way, there was a bright and beautiful face with a playful smile.
That was Xie Lingqin.
"Thump."
Xie Lingqin pulled back the slingshot, and the jade bead flew towards the doorpost. Then, to the astonishment of the Seven Emperors, the bead seemed to have eyes and ricocheted straight back at them, hitting them on the forehead and making them scream in pain.
However, his mouth was quickly covered again. "What are you yelling for? This is just the beginning."
"Waaaaah..."
"Why are you crying? This is the gentlest form of revenge I can give you. You should be grateful."
Xie Lingqin spoke softly and smiled gently, but the Seventh Prince was so frightened that he almost wet his pants.
Then, Xie Lingqin pulled the slingshot, and another slingshot, another, another…
The seventh prince's forehead, eyebrows, face, nose, and chin were all marked with blue and red marks from the jade beads.
Yuwen Jie burst into tears, his eyes almost swollen.
"You little brat, you dare hit me? Will you dare to do it again?" Xie Lingqin then walked over, flicking her fingers and swinging her slingshot. She slowly squatted down, smiling like a flower. In the Seventh Prince's eyes, however, she looked like the most beautiful ghost.
"No... I won't dare again..." Yuwen Jie was terrified and in excruciating pain, sobbing with snot and tears streaming down his face.
Xie Lingqin then tossed the slingshot to her, and helped Yuwen Jie put the jade bead back on the jade crown on his head. Then, she stepped aside, smiled, and beckoned with her finger, indicating that the Seventh Prince could leave.
Yuwen Jie swallowed hard, his small eyes brimming with tears, and then, in the next instant, he grabbed his slingshot and ran away as if fleeing.
"Miss, if we let the Seventh Prince get away like this, he will complain." Zihe was worried and took a step forward, as if she wanted to chase after him.
Xie Faqin stopped Zihe, indicating that there was no rush.
“That’s exactly what we want him to do,” Xie Lingqin said.
"Even the most idiotic person wouldn't think that I would be with the Crown Prince to bully a six or seven-year-old child. We're not that stupid, so the Emperor won't believe it."
"But the injury on the Seventh Prince's face..."
Xie Lingqin patted Zihe's shoulder, "You're too serious. Let me ask you, wasn't it his own slingshot that hurt Yuwen Jie's face? Was it the jade bead he remembered? If he hurt himself because he didn't play well, and then tried to blame someone else, given his playful nature, do you think anyone would believe him if he complained?"
Zihe instantly understood. That's right, if what just happened again occurred, Consort Lan and Prince Xian would be in dire straits, and if the Seventh Prince went to complain...
"Miss Lingqin is truly amazing," Tingfeng couldn't help but praise.
“Of course, you’re on the right track too.” Xie Lingqin raised her hand as if to pat Tingfeng’s shoulder, but before her hand could touch Tingfeng’s clothes, it was already grasped in the palm of a large, broad hand.
"Let's go, I'll see you out of the palace."
Yuwen Yao led Xie Lingqin outside.
After walking a few steps, Xie Lingqin stopped again, looking at Yuwen Yao with a questioning gaze, "Yuwen Yao, can I ask you a question? What exactly is the background of that Hualuo Palace?"
Upon hearing this, Yuwen Yao's gaze deepened, a faint glint of light flashing in his eyes. After a moment, he said, "There once lived a woman there, who was said to be a favorite of the Emperor."
"The Emperor has such romantic affairs?" Xie Lingqin asked curiously. "I've never heard of them."
“She’s dead,” Yuwen Yao said, pondering. “I’ve never seen her either. According to my mother, she was a very special woman. When she died, flowers were blooming all around her.”
"That's strange?" Xie Lingqin's curiosity grew. "Then how did he die?"
Yuwen Yao stared intently at Xie Faqin, "It is said that she died because of the General's wife."
"My mother?" Xie Lingqin was clearly shocked. "This matter is not recorded in history, and I have never heard a word about it."
