Chapter Forty: My Beauty, You're So Smooth

"Girl, if I were you, I would put down the dagger in my hand." The fat shopkeeper glanced at Xie Lingqin, his voice tinged with smugness.

It's a pity.

Xie Lingqin glanced around, then gave a cold laugh, her lips cool and unhurried. "I'll ask you one more time, who is controlling the herb Strychnos nux-vomica?"

The portly shopkeeper frowned, taken aback by Xie Lingqin's sudden coldness, but after glancing around and seeing that there were many others, he sneered, "Miss, don't be so clever."

"Very good." Xie Lingqin smiled, but before she could finish speaking, she suddenly raised her hand and brought down her knife. A streak of blood flew across the fat shopkeeper's neck as he glared angrily.

"I hate threats the most," Xie Lingqin said coldly, raising her foot to kick.

The fat shopkeeper was immediately sent flying like a kite with a broken string, his breath abruptly cut off.

Her movements were so fast that by the time the men in black around her could react, Xie Lingqin had already narrowed her cold eyes, taken something out of her sleeve, and thrown it out.

Suddenly, crackling sounds erupted, and a thick fog rose up, creating quite a lively scene.

These were the firecrackers that Xie Lingqin had bought before she came.

Before the men in black could react, Xie Lingqin had already deftly torn the clothes of several of them.

The black wolf tattoo on his lower back was strikingly clear and menacing.

Sure enough, these people were also from the Underworld.

A sudden change occurred in the back room of the herbal medicine shop, and in an instant, the shop assistants and guards rushed towards the back room in a chaotic rush.

Meanwhile, Xie Lingqin had already taken advantage of the situation and secretly obtained a lot of medicinal herbs.

Hsieh Ling-chin stated that since she didn't get any information, she couldn't leave empty-handed; she should at least receive some form of emotional compensation.

What happened up ahead?

Xie Lingqin was about to leap over a white wall of the herbal medicine shop when she suddenly heard a sound coming from a room not far away.

The voice was deep, so deep it felt like a heavy stone pressing down on one's heart, causing inexplicable panic.

Xie Lingqin subconsciously held her breath, stopped in her tracks, and leaned against the back window.

"Don't worry, sir. It's probably just that fat shopkeeper causing trouble again. I'll go check it out right away." As soon as he finished speaking, the door was pushed open, and a man in black came out. He looked around warily before heading straight out of the courtyard.

And then, all around, for a moment, it became so quiet that even the sound of the wind seemed to have disappeared.

This feeling...

not good!

Xie Lingqin paused just as she was about to poke a hole in the window to peek at the person inside.

A soft "whoosh" sound came from afar, heading towards her.

The disparity in strength was immense. As the few strands of hair that had been cut off from her head flew through the air, Xie Lingqin's expression turned icy.

This superior...

A master.

In the face of crisis, life is of utmost importance.

Xie Lingqin leaped over the wall without stopping, and what awaited her was the person searching around the back room of the medicine shop.

"Capture them alive..."

In a critical situation, Xie Lingqin acted faster than she thought. With a kick, a sweep, and a swift movement, she leaped over the wall and ran towards the bustling city ahead, crying out in pain.

"Quick, she ran away, grab her..."

"Huh, where did everyone go?"

Meanwhile, they were inside a large horse-drawn carriage that was turning into the bustling city.

“Miss, I have already inquired and found out that Prince Xian has entered the palace today.”

Xie Lingyu looked at the maid beside her, feeling truly annoyed. She had inquired about the whereabouts of the Prince Xian beforehand, and only thought of coming out today. She never expected that the Prince Xian would actually enter the palace again.

"Alright, you can go outside now." Xie Lingyu impatiently dismissed the maid from the carriage, her eyes turning ruthless.

Although she didn't find out what happened when the Prince Xian sent Xie Lingqin away last night, and her mother said so, she still felt uneasy when she thought about it later.

The mere thought of Xie Lingqin's name felt like tearing her heart out; she wanted to grind Xie Lingqin to dust immediately.

Why won't she die?

"Xie Lingqin, I will make you grovel before me... uh."

The sound of clenching teeth abruptly stopped.

Xie Lingyu's beautiful eyes were filled with fear; at that moment, it felt as if all the blood in her body had stopped flowing.

"What? It hasn't been that long, and you've already forgotten me, little beauty?" Xie Lingqin spoke in a man's voice, as cold as ice.

Xie Lingyu froze like a wooden statue, and it took her a long time to find her voice, "You...you...I'm going to kill you."

"Oh?" Xie Lingqin, standing behind Xie Lingyu, moved the dagger she was holding to Xie Lingyu's neck. "But now, it seems your life is in my hands."

"You, you, you..."

"Stop the carriage." Xie Lingyu, trembling, hadn't even finished speaking when several voices rang out from outside the carriage.

"Who are you? This is the General's carriage." Outside, Xie Lingyu's maidservant was quite presumptuous.

Xie Lingqin frowned slightly; these people were indeed fast in catching up.

"Let me go right now, or I'll scream." Hearing the sounds outside, Xie Lingyu's eyes flickered, and she suddenly felt emboldened.

Xie Lingqin snorted coldly, then raised her fingertip and made an ambiguous hook on Xie Lingyu's fair face. "Fine, let them come in and see how the second young lady of the General's Mansion is having a secret rendezvous with a man in the carriage."

Upon hearing this, Xie Lingyu's breath caught in her throat.

Yes, no, she can't let anyone know there's a man in her carriage.

"Miss……"

"I am the second young lady of the General's Mansion. What do you want?" Xie Lingyu spoke up before the maid outside could finish speaking.

Xie Lingqin was very satisfied with Xie Lingyu's performance, and raised her hand to hook her cheek again, "Good girl."

"You..." Xie Lingyu was so angry that her face turned red and her body trembled. Her beautiful eyes were so angry that they seemed to be spitting fire, but she was also afraid of dying.

"Miss Xie, we are chasing a criminal slave. We apologize for any offense." At this moment, the other party's voice came from outside.
