Chapter Seventy-Five: Robbery of the Carriage Leads to the Abduction of the Crown Prince

Bai Yu frowned.

"Ah, sir, what I'm carrying is swill. If I don't get it out of the city tonight, what am I going to do tomorrow?" Bai Yu pleaded, head bowed. "Sir, you see, I'm not a fugitive. Why don't you let me get this out of here first?"

The man on horseback glanced at the white jade, then at the swill cart, then covered his nose and frowned, before raising his hand, "Hurry up and go."

"Yes, yes, yes." Bai Yu breathed a sigh of relief, then pulled the cart and quickened his pace.

"Wait." A gentle, deep voice came from afar.

"...Your Highness." The man on horseback bowed as he looked at the approaching Prince Xian. "Your Highness, why did you come here personally? The person hasn't been captured yet."

"Didn't I say that no one is allowed to leave the city?" Yuwen Xian's face darkened as he looked at the swill cart, then turned around. However, just a moment later, his gaze fell back on the swill bucket.

“This is a swill bucket,” the wise king suddenly said, walking over.

The soldiers guarding the city immediately stepped forward and said, "Your Highness, this is filthy; please don't let it offend your eyes."

The wise prince glanced at him, but then looked back at the swill cart. "It's just a bucket of swill, why are the tire tracks so heavy?"

A question.

White jade heart stagnates.

This wise king is really...

He was being so careful, even using his internal energy to reduce the friction between the wheels and the ground while driving...

"Your Highness, this carriage is old, isn't it? I didn't know..."

Bai Yu lowered his head, looking like he was stammering when he saw a noble and virtuous person.

"Is that so?" Yuwen Xian frowned, a gentle yet disdainful smile appearing on his face. "The most inconspicuous places are often the best hiding places. What do you think..." The Prince Xian looked at the guards behind him and said, "Qingyi, do you think the two young ladies of the Marquis of Anping's mansion might be in this bucket?"

Upon hearing this, the guard named Qingyi immediately became alert and shouted at Bai Yu, "You, come here and open the barrel."

Bai Yu's face was pale, but he still kept his head down and quickly stepped forward. "I, I will open it right away, I will open it right away." As Bai Yu spoke, his fingers were already hidden in his sleeves, ready to strike at close range.

...

The moon hung like a silver hook, accompanied by a gust of cold wind. Xie Lingqin, who was standing on a branch, flipped over and leaped onto the carriage that was coming out of the street.

He lifted the curtain, burst in silently and swiftly, a cold dagger flashing from his sleeve.

"If you don't want to die, behave yourself..." Xie Lingqin's voice trailed off as she saw the person inside the carriage.

The dagger in his hand seemed to have lost its strength.

A sense of despair spread from the soles of my feet to the depths of my heart.

Too...Prince.

Why kidnap the Crown Prince?

Doesn't the Crown Prince have his own carriage?

"Come over here or you'll be kicked out." However, before Xie Lingqin could even react, she was pulled in by a strong force.

Then……

Xie Lingqin immediately prostrated herself on the ground. When she looked up, she saw a pair of purple-gold jade boots gleaming brightly in front of her.

"You like my shoes?"

"No." Xie Lingqin sat up abruptly, but dared not move because of the Crown Prince's powerful aura.

"Are we leaving the city?" the crown prince asked.

Xie Lingqin's cool eyes flickered, and she nodded almost mechanically, "Mm."

"Then behave yourself."

"……good."

The city gate is just ahead.

So, the Crown Prince was willing to take her out of the city?

That explanation is correct, isn't it?

What are the Crown Prince's thoughts?

This carriage clearly belongs to an ordinary wealthy family, and the driver is just a regular servant. So how come the Crown Prince, such a great figure, is sitting inside?

If only I knew she was going to...

...

"stop."

Before Bai Yu could even draw his dagger, the Prince Xian's guards stopped the Crown Prince's carriage.

Bai Yu immediately stopped moving.

The wise king turned around and looked at the ordinary-looking carriage under the moonlight.

"Who is in the carriage? The city gates are closed; we cannot leave the city."

Inside the carriage, Xie Lingqin's face was ashen, her fingers slightly clasped, seemingly oblivious to her surroundings, though she glanced at the Crown Prince out of the corner of her eye. She was actually quite curious about what the Crown Prince was doing out of the city.

The crown prince has always lived a secluded life and rarely ventured out.

However, the Crown Prince seemed to sense her gaze and glanced at her with special leniency, without replying to the outside.

Xie Lingqin felt uneasy under that cold and alluring gaze, and was even more unsure of the Crown Prince's thoughts. She could only steady her breathing, not allowing anyone outside to suspect anything. At the same time, she was prepared to jump out of the carriage immediately if anything went wrong; she didn't want to end up getting herself killed while trying to save someone.

"Your Excellency, my master is going out of the city to perform a sacrificial ceremony at night, so please understand," the coachman said from outside the carriage.

"What are you doing out of the city so late for a sacrificial ceremony?" It was no longer the guards who spoke, but clearly the voice of the wise king.

When the prince asked him a question, the servant outside the carriage showed no sign of panic. Instead, he replied politely, "Your Highness, my master said that it is a sacrifice for those who died today."

"Oh?" Outside the carriage, the wise prince's expression changed.

Inside the carriage, Xie Lingqin's expression also changed.

The people who died today in broad daylight, weren't they from the Marquis of Anping's residence?

So obvious.

Such blatant opposition?!

However, contrary to Xie Lingqin's expectations, there was no immediate attempt to stop the carriage or show any murderous intent. Instead, there was only silence.

Extreme silence.

Then, the Crown Prince covered his mouth at the opportune moment and coughed softly.

Despite having a rosy complexion, he coughed like a chronically ill patient.
