"Oh, it's the young lady from the General's Mansion." The boy, about fifteen or sixteen years old, dressed in a brocade robe, walked with his head held high and blocked their way.
"Shangning greets brother." An Shangning immediately curtsied and tugged at Xie Lingqin beside him, his voice slightly weak.
Xie Lingqin, on the other hand, remained calm and composed, showing no fear or panic.
The second young master of the Marquis of Anping's mansion was about the same age as her. One day, the original owner accidentally stepped on this young master's shoe, causing him to lose face in front of everyone. Since then, whenever he saw her, he would glare at her coldly and mock her in every way, using every means to make her suffer.
However, compared to others, this young master was just a bit arrogant, and had no real malicious intent.
It can be considered a long-standing grudge.
"Greetings, Second Young Master." Xie Lingqin finally spoke softly.
Given the circumstances, she didn't want to cause trouble, so she decided to keep to herself.
"Hmph, fine, I'm not good. I feel bad the moment I see you. You still dare to come? Aren't you afraid I'll beat you to a pulp and throw you into the pond to feed the fish?" Young Master An walked over, raising his eyebrows, his tone like a child.
Lingqin believes that the Second Young Master is of such extraordinary character and appearance that he must be broad-minded. The past must be like fleeting clouds, long forgotten.
"Oh." Upon hearing this, An Shangyi raised his chin. "So after being divorced by the Prince Xian, it has grown a brain and can speak human language now."
Oh!
Xie Lingqin wasn't angry.
Compared to the Crown Prince, this is just a small dish.
It's just a small dish!
"Brother, this is the women's rest area." Seeing that the atmosphere was not good, An Shangning reminded him in a low voice.
The second young master glared at her and said, "Don't speak." Then, his sword-like eyes fixed on Xie Lingqin, and the next moment, he shoved her towards him.
Xie Lingqin fell straight to the ground. Of course, she braced herself slightly with her hand when she landed, so although she looked disheveled, she was not actually injured.
An Shangning and Zihe, who was standing nearby, immediately went to help him up.
"Second brother, you're a man, can't you be a little more magnanimous?" An Shangning clearly harbored some resentment.
An Shangyi glared at her. "I'm your brother, she's your brother, and you're helping her? You have no idea how much of a fool I was that time."
“I…” An Shang muttered softly, “But you have been harsh on Sister Lingqin quite a few times.”
An Shangyi straightened his ears, his nostrils flared, and said, "What did you say? Speak louder."
An Shangning was clearly stifled. After all, he wasn't one to argue, and after a long pause, he finally said, "Second brother, you are a man, you should be magnanimous."
“I’m generous to everyone, but I’m not generous to her. Yunzhou, don’t you think so?” An Shangyi said the last sentence to those behind him.
Then, not far away, a flower branch swayed, and Liu Yunzhou walked over somewhat awkwardly, saying, "Do not speak of what is improper, do not listen to what is improper."
"Young Master Liu..."
An Shangning murmured a greeting.
Xie Lingqin had already been helped up by Zihe. She was not surprised at all when she saw Liu Yunzhou approaching. She had sensed that there was someone behind the flower branch, but she never expected it to be Liu Yunzhou.
"Ahem." Liu Yunzhou, a learned and polite scholar, coughed awkwardly a few times, covering his mouth. "To be honest, Miss Xie didn't do anything wrong. Shang Yi, it's understandable that you should be more magnanimous."
"Liu Yunzhou, have you lost your mind? This woman was eyeing you just a few days ago, and she even wrote you love letters."
"What love letter?" Liu Yunzhou blushed, glanced around, and lowered his voice, "Be careful, walls have ears. That's just someone trying to frame me. I haven't found out yet."
Xie Lingqin was slightly taken aback. She couldn't find it?
Is the Liu family really that incompetent?
She didn't believe it.
They probably found out it was the second concubine who did it, but they didn't want to make a fuss and cause trouble for themselves.
An Shangyi, however, was indignant. "What are you investigating? Don't be fooled by her. The more pitiful and weak a woman seems, the more ferocious she may be."
Xie Lingqin's lips twitched slightly.
You're the weakling.
You are chicken from head to toe, inside and out.
Unable to argue with An Shangyi, Liu Yunzhou glanced at him, then gave Xie Lingqin a sympathetic look before giving up in despair.
Xie Lingqin knew that in the past, Liu Yunzhou would have said a few words in her defense. However, after the so-called love letter incident a few days ago, although it was not her doing, given Liu Yunzhou's rigid and inflexible nature, he would probably be eager to stay away from her.
Moreover, it was an absolute rip-off, and his helplessness only fueled An Shangyi's arrogance.
An Shangyi raised an eyebrow, his handsome face slightly upturned, like a god high above, "Xie Lingqin, tell me, what are you planning?"
You wish!
"If you want to find fault, you can always find a reason. I have nothing to say."
Explaining to someone who is deliberately trying to pick a fight with you is just making things harder for yourself; there's no need for that.
It's just admitting defeat, as long as it's not real defeat.
As expected, An Shangyi was somewhat frustrated and felt like he was punching cotton. He snorted and after a long while, he finally managed to utter, "You're smart to know what's good for you."
After saying that, he pulled Liu Yunzhou forward.
As he passed by, he also stepped on Xie Lingqin's foot. If Zihe hadn't reacted quickly, that foot would probably be ruined today.
An Shangyi stopped abruptly, glared at Zihe, and then arrogantly looked at Xie Lingqin. "Heh, you're quite clever."
After saying that, he turned and left.
Liu Yunzhou gave Xie Lingqin an apologetic and complicated look before following her.
"Sigh..." An Shangning sighed helplessly as An Shangyi walked away. "Every time I see your brother, he causes trouble, and stepping on you is a must. And you, Sister Lingqin, don't you know how to avoid him?"
"Luckily I didn't dodge, otherwise, it wouldn't have been as simple as just pushing or stepping on me." Xie Lingqin patted the dust off her clothes, seemingly unconcerned.
In comparison, An Shangyi is just a child in her eyes.
Seeing that Xie Lingqin was not angry, An Shangning smiled slightly and said, "Sister Lingqin, you have changed a bit. If it were before, you would probably have tears in your eyes, afraid that someone would see you and embarrass yourself."
Xie Lingqin remained calm and said with a self-deprecating tone, "If you've ever been divorced and laughed at by so many people, you'd better be smarter."
Upon hearing this, An Shangning pondered for a moment and nodded emphatically, "That's true. Fortunately, this brother knows his limits and knows that you are a woman, so he would never really use force. He's just feeling resentful and wants to vent his anger on you."
Zihe watched from the side, seemingly oblivious to everything else.
She had actually seen everything Xie Lingqin did. What was there to dust off? She hadn't even touched the ground. Only the Fourth Miss and the Second Young Master were so easily fooled.
