Chapter 5 The Truth About Dreams

Everything that was unclear in my dream suddenly became clear, little by little.

The woman's face was so beautiful. She was crying, and her voice was so mournful, so disappointed, so desperate.

Her eyes were vacant, and blood was gushing out.

Her face was ripped off, making her look like a ghost.

Her bones were shattered, and she was paralyzed like a rag doll.

Her soul eventually dissipated, leaving behind only the anguish of the netherworld.

Ice, fire, and water all rushed towards her, towards her mangled, horrifying, bloody body...

She was burning, she was hating, she was struggling, and finally she died.

Yuwen Shu, though I, Yun Yishang, am dead, my soul will not perish. One day, I will make you wish you were dead.

The cries of blood echoed throughout the underworld, shaking people's hearts and minds; everything seemed to reappear as if it were yesterday.

"flutter--"

Xie Lingqin finally couldn't bear it any longer and spat out a mouthful of blood, which fell directly onto the icy surface and spread out into a terrifying and bloody datura flower.

“Lingqin…”

"Xiao Qin..."

"Miss……"

At almost the same moment, Nanhuang, Xu Yiran, and Tridacna all regained their senses and rushed towards Xie Lingqin.

“Yun Yishang, she…she was my mother, she died here…she…”

Xie Lingqin wept uncontrollably, her face pale. "Her eyes were gouged out, her skin torn off, her soul destroyed, and her bones shattered..."

"No, no, that won't happen."

The Southern Emperor held Xie Lingqin's shoulder; he didn't believe it.

"She is Yun Yishang, she is so powerful, she wouldn't, she wouldn't..."

"Yes, because she comes from the Cloud Clan. If we don't want her revenge, we must destroy her soul, tear off her skin, and ensure that she can never be reborn."

Tridacna's eyes were bloodshot. She looked at Xie Lingqin, squatted down, and gripped her hand tightly, almost squeezing it. "Miss, what did you see? How did she die? She's really here, isn't she? She died here, didn't she..."

Xie Lingqin remained silent, the immense shock leaving her somewhat unable to process what was happening.

That kind of death, that kind of cruel treatment.

It was her mother who was forced into this situation.

She couldn't believe it, she dared not believe it.

"After all these years, I have finally waited for this day."

Suddenly, from the other side of the channel, a figure emerged, his voice mournful and filled with inexplicable wailing.

It was a black robe.

He looked at the giant clam, then at the Southern Emperor. "That's right, she died here. For so many years, I've searched for her, I've traveled all over the world looking for her soul, but I never imagined that she had already vanished. Until I found you, Xie Lingqin."

The man in the black robe stared at her intently. "You are her daughter. I know you are the key to unlocking everything. Now that you are here, the spiritual energy she placed within you has been activated. You witnessed the horrific scene before her death, which means you can now open this cold wall."

"I……"

Xie Lingqin looked at the cold wall beside her.

"Yes, you haven't tried it yet, have you? This cold wall is indestructible. Not only you, but I can't destroy it either. And Yuwen Shu has tried it hundreds and thousands of times. So, I know that she must have placed a restriction on this cold wall before she died, and only you can open this restriction."

"So that's why you insisted that I bring Zongzheng Shao's remains to the Imperial Palace?"

"Yes, because when I said this to you, I wasn't sure if she was here, so I could only tell you to give it a try."

Xie Lingqin looked at the black robe, then suddenly stood up and walked towards the wall.

"Don't be anxious. You just activated the energy she left in your body, and now your internal energy is in disarray. Moving around rashly would only lead to your death. Sit down and rest."

The woman in black robes walked over. Her tone towards Xie Lingqin was always the same: kind, yet stern and distant.

"Who exactly are you?"

The Southern Emperor looked at the black-robed man, his eyes filled with wariness. "You took the initiative to find me back then, saying you wanted to help me, but now, who exactly are you?"

"who I am?"

The man in the black robe smiled bitterly and sadly. He slowly peeled away the black robe covering his head and face, and then removed the black mask.

A face with skin as smooth as jade and distinct features appeared before everyone's eyes.

It's almost impossible to tell his age, or the marks that time has etched on his face. The only thing that stands out is a hideous scar that runs from his jawline up his nose to the corner of his eye, which looks quite old.

He walked over step by step and met the Southern Emperor's gaze.

"You man, do you know how much I want to kill you?"

"what you up to?"

Beside her, the shocked Nan Fenghuang immediately shielded Nan Huang, but Nan Huang instead shielded her behind him. Her gaze was fixed on the black-robed man, filled with self-reproach and guilt, yet she was unyielding. "The lost memories are my fault, but I love her."

"Ha, you love her..."

The man in the black robe sneered, glancing sideways at Xie Lingqin sitting on the ground. "Want to hear a story?"

Silence fell.

Silence is consent.

"Your mother and I are both from the Yun Clan," the man in black said, pausing for a moment. "Have you heard of the Yun Clan?"

Xie Lingqin shook her head, "I have never known such a thing existed in the world."

"No, there were such things before you were born. But after your mother died, the Northern Emperor gradually erased the already insignificant words and phrases. He thought that this way, no one would know his sins anymore, no one would know..."

The veins on his black robe bulged, and the hideous scars on his face seemed to mock and ridicule him. "He thought no one knew, but he didn't know that among the people who came out of the Yun Clan back then, there was also me. In this world, without her companionship, I am so lonely."

"The Yun Clan is an ancient divine clan, passed down for thousands of years. It is not in Beirong, Nanqi, Xixia, or even among the barbarians. It is an unknown place. Only the newest clan leader of the Yun Clan who can decipher the true secret formula can open that mysterious door and go to any place. However, thousands of years have passed, and no one has been able to open it. But she, Yun Yishang, opened it. At that time, she was in her prime, believing that she could not only warm the Yun Clan but also influence a much wider area..."
