Chapter 254: The Cage of Love
Shen Yu gripped the reins tightly, raised his sword, gritted his teeth, and rushed directly towards the princess's guards who were blocking the way ahead.
"Meng Jin, if you stop me today and I lose her, I will make sure your Meng family has no descendants!"
The sounds of shouting and fighting immediately filled the entire dense forest.
Meng Jin shrank back and it took him a while to realize what Shen Yu meant.
What? Does this mean that your wife ran away and you don’t allow others to marry her?
This cunning soldier is really unreasonable!
Meng Jin was still sighing, but he was a little distracted. When he raised his eyes again, the tip of the sword with silver light was attacking his forehead.
Didn't you say he would have no descendants? Why did you come to him to kill him the moment you met him?
Meng Jin was so frightened that he lost all consciousness and even lost his dignity as a scholar. He screamed and fell to the ground.
The guards were also scared out of their wits. Princess Jiarou gave an order that if Lord Meng was injured, they would all be held responsible.
The guards around subconsciously gathered towards Meng Jin, determined to protect him. With this movement, a gap appeared in the human wall that was blocking him.
"rush!"
Shen Yu shouted loudly, turned the tip of his sword, and without any hesitation, he suddenly kicked the horse's belly and rushed out.
When everyone came to their senses, they realized that Shen Yu's previous momentum to kill Meng Jin was just a diversion.
Looking at Meng Jin again, he was squatting on the ground with his head in his hands, his shoulders trembling slightly, and he looked terrified.
Princess Jiarou's guards all looked sideways, thinking to themselves, if the princess saw the handsome and elegant Lord Meng in this state, would she still be devoted to him?

Chen Yu chased all the way to the ferry, but there was no sign of Wen Wan and her group there.
At the ferry, a child of seven or eight years old was happily eating a string of candied haws. Suddenly, he saw Shen Yu and his group. He hesitated for a moment and walked forward timidly.
"Uncle, are you the general?"
The little boy tilted his head and asked seriously.
Shen Yu said in a deep voice: "So what if I am, so what if I am not?"
The boy answered seriously, "If you were a general, I would have something to give you."
Shen Yu was startled, as if he had guessed something, "I am the general."
The little boy then wiped his mouth, rummaged in his arms for a while, and took out a folded piece of paper.
"This was given to me by a sister. She said if you see someone who looks like a general, give this to him."
Hearing this, Shen Yu grabbed the paper.
"If you understood me, you wouldn't use love as a cage to imprison me in a backyard. We'll each live our lives in peace. I hope you take care of yourself as we go on."
Love is a prison...
When the river breeze blew, Shen Yu's fingertips trembled, and his whole body seemed to be deflated. He didn't even have the strength to hold the letter paper tightly.
He watched the piece of paper float into the air with the wind, and after the wind passed, it swayed and fell onto the lake.
Xiang Tu stood behind Shen Yu, not knowing what was written in the letter, but looking at the general's expression, he could guess that it was Aunt Wan's suicide note.
Aunt Wan left after all.
With a splash, everyone saw the general jump into the river.
"General!"
Everyone roared in fear, but Shen Yu didn't even look back. He swam straight in the direction where the paper had floated away.
The water in the river was flowing fast, and the letter paper got wet and floated up and down.
Shen Yu finally managed to grab the letter paper, but it couldn't bear the force and broke into pieces.
The bits of paper were quickly washed away by the river. Shen Yu tried to grab them several times like crazy, but he couldn't catch them.
The people on the shore had never seen the general look so lonely, and they felt a little sorry for him. However, they shouted for a long time, but Shen Yu did not respond. He was like a numb body, just constantly grasping at the fragments that had disappeared.
After a long time, Shen Yu's movements became slower and slower, and he looked exhausted.
Xiang Tu shouted anxiously, "What are you still standing there for? Go and rescue the general!"
The guards of the general's mansion jumped into the water one after another, and it took a long time before they pulled the man out.
At the dock, Shen Yu, wrapped in a heavy cloak, sat with a dull look in his eyes.
His appearance frightened Xiang Tu so much that he was at a loss. However, no matter how he tried to persuade him, Shen Yu did not move or say a word.
"General, if you are reluctant to let Aunt Wan go, we will send someone to chase her immediately!"
"I'll pass the order down right away. Our people are spread all over the country, and Aunt Wan can't get away."
Xiang Tu was so anxious that he was spinning around. He gritted his teeth and didn't even bother to wait for Shen Yu to come back to his senses and give orders. He jumped on his horse and prepared to mobilize troops.
"Wait," Shen Yu's voice was not loud, but it was enough to make Xiang Tu pause.
Xiang Tu didn't understand what was going on and looked at him blankly.
Shen Yu only pulled the corners of his mouth, and his smile was uglier than crying.
He choked out, "Let her go."
Xiang Tu sat on the horse, not knowing whether to leave or stay.
Shen Yu looked past Xiang Tu and towards the direction of the river.
After all this trouble, the sky had darkened a lot, and the sunset glow hung at the end of the distant mountains.
He stared at the layers of sunset glow with burning eyes, and remembered the time when he and Wen Wan were lying on the hillside in the border town, watching the sunset glow fade away and waiting for the sky to be filled with stars.
"She's right. To her, the General's Mansion... is nothing more than a prison."
Shen Yu stood up tremblingly, retracted his gaze, and dared not look at the gorgeous sunset again.
He turned his back, his back looking a little hunched.
"Let's go back home."
The guard helped Shen Yu onto the horse. Shen Yu gripped the reins tightly and hesitated for a moment before ordering Xiang Tu, "Withdraw the troops ambushing Yu Qiting from the neighboring city."
Xiang Tu moved his lips, as if he wanted to say something.
Before leaving the Imperial Capital, Wen En was just Wen En. Once he left the Imperial Capital, he became Yu Qiting, the Prince of Mobei.
As the general of Duan Dynasty, Shen Yu had no intention of letting him leave easily.
They had been doing these things without telling Aunt Wan, and it cost a lot of manpower and material resources, so Xiang Tu was still a little unwilling to accept the fact that Shen Yu had withdrawn as soon as he said so.
Shen Yu saw through his little thoughts and asked sternly, "Why, do you have any objections?"
He bowed his head and said, "I dare not."
Shen Yu raised his hand and patted Xiang Tu's shoulder, his voice a little drifting in the cold wind.
"I owe her so much. Just consider this as...repaying her favor. Just this once..."
It’s also the last time.
From then on, he and she went their separate ways, and perhaps they would never have the chance to meet again in this life.

When it was getting dark, Shen Yu and his group finally returned to the general's mansion.
In front of the red gate, the steward was looking forward to it with a lantern in his hand. When he saw Shen Yu, he immediately went to greet him with joy.
"General, the prince is awake!"
The steward immediately reported the good news to Shen Yu, "The prince said that he has something very important to tell you!"
Hearing this, Shen Yu dismounted and strode into the yard.
