Chapter 51: The Story of a Little Person
The food had just been placed on the table. There was a plate of black braised pork in the middle, and the smell of burning was floating in the air.
Wen Wan cleared her throat awkwardly, "I accidentally burnt a little bit of the food..."
Winn's expression was calm, and he didn't seem to care about such details.
He moved the burnt braised pork in front of himself and said, "I'll just eat this. I like it a little burnt."
"Uh..." Wen Wan pursed her lips and sighed, "A child who is too sensible will be pitied by no one. At a time like this, you should complain if you need to, and don't be polite to me. You can also scold me, saying that I can't do such a simple thing, and call me a pig-headed person."
Winn was stunned. "I'm not a child."
"Is this the point?" Wen Wan rolled her eyes at him in dissatisfaction.
Winn: "I'm not a child."
He repeated it again, and it was obvious that this issue was what he cared about most compared to a burnt dish.
Wen Wan couldn't persuade him, "Okay, you're not a child, you're a proud young man, okay?"
Wen En said nothing, but frowned, still looking somewhat dissatisfied.
He moved his lips, "I'm a man..."
Wen Wan didn't waste any more time talking to him. She picked up her bowl and chopsticks and interrupted him in a low voice: "Don't talk while eating, and don't talk while sleeping. Eat!"
Man, those two words, Winn didn’t have the chance to finish saying.
The two of them had not taken a few bites when they heard the sound of hurried horse hooves outside the yard.
Shen Yu rode back from the camp at full speed, dismounted swiftly, walked straight into the yard, and quickly came to the main house.
"Add another pair of chopsticks, I haven't eaten yet either."
He was not polite and pulled out the chair next to Wen Wan and sat down.
Wen Wan stared at him with wide eyes, wanting to say something back at him, but her gaze fell on a stain of crimson on his sleeve, and she hesitated for a moment before saying nothing more.
Forget it, the border town garrison also put in a lot of effort to capture that group of bandits.
She got up and went to the kitchen to get the dishes.
Shen Yu took the bowl and chopsticks and saw the plate of burnt braised pork.
He picked up a piece of black stuff in shock and said in astonishment: "Did you poison the food?"
Wen Wan's mouth twitched, and she was about to explode when Wen En next to her suddenly raised his chopsticks.
He snatched the piece of black braised pork from Shen Yu's chopsticks and put it into his mouth in front of him.
"I didn't make this for you. My sister made this for me."
Winn's tone was icy, "As long as it tastes good to me."
Shen Yu: “…”
Telling lies with open eyes is also a skill.
When he said that, Wen Wan felt a little embarrassed.
Shen Yu sneered and looked at Wen En provocatively, "Then I have to thank my sister for not killing me. If I eat this dish, I will be half dead if not dead."
When Wen En heard this, his face darkened and he said coldly, "Don't bother an outsider like you."
In this tense atmosphere, Wen Wan couldn't eat anymore.
She held her forehead weakly, "That's enough, you two. If you want to eat, eat. If you don't want to eat, get out! I didn't cook a table full of food just to please you!"
Seeing her angry, the two men who were arguing with each other reluctantly stopped.
All three of them were very dissatisfied with the meal.
After dinner, Winn cleared the dishes and went to the kitchen to wash them.
Shen Yu winked at Wen Wan, and the two of them found a secluded place in the yard to talk.
"Agui has indeed killed many people."
As soon as Shen Yu opened his mouth, he made a bold move, directly confirming Wen Wan's guess.
But his attitude didn't seem to be very hostile, which made Wen Wan feel confused.
Wen Wan: "Then why do you dare to keep him by your side?"
Shen Yu said in a deep voice: "Killing someone depends on who you kill. Let me tell you a story."
Wenwan nodded.
Chen Yu: "Agui was once just an escort, spending most of the year traveling with the caravan. He was the only son in his family, and his parents were old, waiting for him to have children for the family."
"He and a girl from the same village were childhood sweethearts. The two families had already made peace, and they were just waiting for the next spring, when he would come back from escorting the escorts and earn money, so he could come and propose marriage."
"One night, the Mobei people broke into the village, killed all the men, and abducted the girl..."
Having said this, he suddenly stopped and looked at Wen Wan meaningfully.
"Do you remember what I told you about the fate of women abducted by the Mobei people?"
Wen Wan thought for a moment and felt a chill down her spine.
Back then at the Mountain God Temple, Shen Yu originally wanted to finish her off because he didn’t want her to fall into the hands of the Mobei people.
Later, when she entered the border town, she heard from those who survived the Mobei people that the Mobei people called the abducted women "two-legged sheep."
What a terrible name!
Sheep are domesticated animals. Treating women as domesticated animals and eating them is simply inhumane.
Even though Shen Yu was a veteran general who had come from the battlefield and was accustomed to the blood and gore on the battlefield, he almost felt nauseous whenever he mentioned the fact that the people of Mobei ate two-legged sheep.
"When Agui returned from escorting the convoy, he found a large iron pot in the village. Inside the pot was a leg that had been boiled until it was almost white. On the neck of the leg was the girl's butterfly birthmark."
Hearing this, Wen Wan took a breath, then covered her mouth with her hands and her eyes turned red.
She didn't dare to imagine how devastated a man who left his hometown to earn money to support his family would be when he returned home to find his parents tragically killed and his lover become food for the enemy.
Shen Yu sighed, "Agui rode alone for a hundred miles before he caught up with the group of Mobei people."
Wen Wan choked up, "He went alone?"
"Yeah." Chen Yu responded, "He charged into the Mobei army alone, determined to die. Killing one wouldn't be a loss, killing two would be a profit, and killing three would mean he would have no regrets in his life!"
Wen Wan really didn't expect that Agui, who had thin arms and legs, would have such an experience.
Shen Yu continued, "It was fortunate that he was not killed. When our border town garrison arrived, we were able to save his life from the Mobei people's swords."
After he finished speaking, he raised his eyes, met Wen Wan's gaze, and asked solemnly:
"So, now that you know he killed a lot of people, are you scared?"
Are you scared?
Would a flesh-and-blood man who disregards life and death be scary?
Wen Wan shook her head.
Shen Yu raised the corner of his lips, raised his hand and touched her head, and said with a smile: "Are you relieved now? I think you won't burn the food again this time?"
He actually guessed that she burned the food because she was distracted?
Wen Wan slapped his claws away and said fiercely, "That was purely an accident. Next time I will make a full banquet to open your eyes."
Shen Yu smiled gently, "Okay, then I'll wait."
Wen Wan: "..." It seems like he cheated her out of a meal?
She thought of another question.
"By the way, how could such a powerful man like Gui be willing to be your servant? Isn't that a waste of his talent?"
