Chapter 9: The Innocent Little Captain
Wen Wan didn't expect that after hearing what was just a joke, Shen Yu's face instantly turned red to his ears.
Wen Wan: “…”
No way, in the ancient times when people got married and had children at the age of sixteen, how could such a handsome military brother be left alone?
This reaction is like that of a child, it's unscientific.
How about trying again?
She came up with a plan, reached out and touched his cheek, teasing him:
“So cute…”
Shen Yu: “?”
Before Shen Yu could react, Wen Wan quickly retracted her claws.
Shen Yu realized belatedly that he was being teased by this girl, and his face turned from red to black in an instant.
"A merchant's concubine, truly shameless!"
Shen Yu cursed angrily, stood up and walked away.
Wen Wan blinked and stared at his back until the figure disappeared, then she happily withdrew her gaze.
"It has to be said, men who say one thing and do another are quite amusing."
"Oh, you dare to call me shameless? I haven't done anything truly shameless yet!"
The more Wen Wan thought about it, the more dissatisfied she became. She grabbed the teapot, filled it halfway with water, and made up her mind.
"You bastard, if you curse me again next time, I'll make you fall in love with me and make you into a bed!"

In the past few days, Kaneki clearly felt that something was wrong with the general's condition.
Although the general did not state the reason explicitly, Jinmu guessed that it must be related to Miss Xiaowan.
After his soldiers were drilled by the general for another two hours, Jinmu finally couldn't help but find Shen Yu.
Shen Yu stood above the training ground, his clothes on his back soaked with sweat.
He untied the cotton cloth wrapped around his wrist and saw Kaneki who was about to say something but hesitated.
"What's up?"
Jin Mu nodded. "Shogun Wu is marrying my young lady tonight and hosting a banquet in the courtyard for his close colleagues. The invitation was sent the day before yesterday. You've been busy these past two days, so I haven't had time to show it to you yet."
The governor of Wu married young ladies every year. Shen Yu had never been to such banquets before. He just sent someone to deliver a gift to his house as a courtesy.
So even though Kaneki came up with this "legitimate" reason, he was actually unsure in his heart.
He was prepared for the general to ask him to handle it according to the usual practice.
Who would have thought that Shen Yu lowered his eyes and thought for a moment, then actually ordered: "Have someone prepare a backup of the gifts, and tonight... you will go with me."
Kaneki was stunned and almost thought he had heard it wrong.
Shen Yu wiped the sweat from his forehead and ordered the soldiers who were training on the field to rest.
The people who had been trained to the point of being half dead finally got a chance to catch their breath and looked at Kaneki with gratitude.
Unfortunately, Jinmu really didn't have time to pay attention to these details. He was still wondering why the general suddenly agreed to attend the banquet hosted by Governor Wu today?
The carriage stopped in front of the prefectural government's residence, and Kaneki couldn't help but ask.
"General, are you really going?"
Shen Yu was wearing a dark brocade robe, low-key yet still with the heroic air of a military commander. He chuckled, "Of course I'm going."
Kaneki followed him, holding a gift box. "General, why is that? Didn't you say that such drinking and sex occasions can easily make our generals lose their fighting spirit?"
Shen Yu did not stop walking, feeling angry and embarrassed as if his weakness had been exposed.
"It's okay to relax once in a while."
Jinmu still didn't understand, "But you also said that you should be strict with yourself..."
Shen Yu suddenly stopped and glanced back at Jin Mu coldly, "I also said that the first rule a soldier must follow is to obey orders! Are you questioning the orders of this general?"
"I dare not!" Jinmu shrank his neck and stopped asking questions.

The moon was above the willows. Wen Wan, who had eaten and drunk her fill, moved a lounge chair to the yard and watched the moon while telling stories to a few half-grown children.
Ever since Wen Wan told them an episode of Journey to the West a few days ago, they have been pestering her to tell stories every night after dinner.
So the story of Sun Wukong fighting monsters became a regular entertainment activity every day.
"This White Bone Demon was originally a scary skeleton, but to seduce Monk Tang, she transformed into a delicate young lady..."
Wenwan swayed leisurely in the recliner, her gaze gently falling on a group of children with wide eyes and indignant expressions on their faces.
Seeing that the atmosphere of enmity between Tang Seng and his disciple Wukong had been almost created, Wen Wan was preparing for a plot reversal.
Unexpectedly, a young man ran in hurriedly.
The boy's name is Chen Zhou. He is the oldest of the group of children and just turned twelve this year.
Chen Zhou was a poor child. He told me that both his parents died at the hands of the Mobei people. He was lucky because he was sold as a slave at a young age and was able to survive.
The soldiers from the border town destroyed a Mobei stronghold a year ago and rescued him from the cage.
Like him, the other children were orphans without parents.
Wen Wan felt pity for them, so she became more gentle and doting towards them.
Chen Zhou had a delighted smile on his face, "Sister Xiaowan, come with me."
"What?" Wen Wan was stunned.
Chen Zhou: "You'll know when you come."
Wen Wan raised her hand and touched his head, "You little brat, you're being quite mysterious."
She got up from the recliner and followed Shen Zhou out into the yard.
At the gate, Jinmu was driving the carriage. When he saw Wen Wan appear, he jumped down and bowed with his fists.
"Miss Xiaowan, the captain asked me to pick you up for a reunion."
Get together?
A gleam of light flashed in Wen Wan's eyes. This statement was quite interesting.
Chen Zhou seemed very happy. He tugged at Wen Wan's sleeve and pulled her aside.
He lowered his voice and admonished like a little adult: "A woman's husband is her heaven. Sister Xiaowan, you should be more obedient to Brother Xiaowei. Men like obedient and docile women."
Wen Wan: “…”
Why does it feel so awkward to be told how to please others by a twelve-year-old?
After Chen Zhou gave her instructions, he ran to Jinmu again and put on a simple smile on his face.
"Brother Jinmu, Sister Xiaowan is young and naive, so please take good care of her while she's out there. If it's convenient, please speak well of her in front of Brother Xiaowei. When I join the army and get my salary, I'll definitely honor you!"
Kaneki: “…”
If he hadn't arranged for this child to live in this courtyard, he would have really thought that this was Miss Xiaowan's biological brother!
The general kept a low profile and never told these children his true identity, so these children also thought that Shen Yu was just a small captain.
None of this matters.
What Jinmu was curious about was that their general would visit these children every month, but he had never seen them treat the general so wholeheartedly.
What's more, Chen Zhou is the calmest and most composed among these children.
How come Zhao Xiaowan has only been here for a few days and Chen Zhou is already asking for a favor from him for her?
