Chapter 320: The Monk's Purpose
Two days passed quickly.
The weather in the mountains changes suddenly. Just after noon, the sky became a little gloomy.
It is finally time for the second-in-command to test the true abilities of the doctors.
All the doctors were gathered in the open space in front of the stable, and in front of each doctor was a horse that they had treated.
The second in command was holding a walnut in one hand and a long knife in the other.
When it came to killing people, these bandits really did what they said. Doctors who picked the wrong sick horses were directly killed by the second-in-command.
In just a moment, the second-in-command's blade was stained with blood.
At his feet was a bloody head, which he kicked away and moved on to the next one.
The doctor did choose the right impotent horse, but the treatment was not very effective. When the bandits brought a mare in estrus, the horse did not react at all.
Thus, another doctor died at the hands of the second-in-command.
When Wen Wan saw this scene, she subconsciously took a step back.
She looked at Winn worriedly.
In the past two days, they have used the prescriptions of Master Li and the old Taoist priest, but they are laymen after all, and they cannot guarantee that there will be no mistakes.
Wen En, however, looked calm and carefully protected her behind him. His hand, hidden in his sleeve, was already on the dagger.
"Are you the miracle doctor from Medicine King Valley?"
The Second in Command stopped in front of Winn.
Winn arrogantly didn't respond to him, but instead looked towards him with a sharp gaze.
The second-in-command's pupils shrank and he spat, "He's quite a man. I just don't know if he has any real ability."
As he spoke, he waved his hand, and a bandit came over with a mare.
Everyone focused their attention on the warhorse in front of them. They saw the warhorse raise its hooves, neigh, and move towards the mare.
The two bandits worked together to pull the horses away.
The second in command was immediately overjoyed, "Not bad! Not bad!"
He threw his head back and laughed, then walked towards Master Li and the old Taoist priest.
If Winn, a cheater, could pass, it is conceivable that these two real doctors would also pass easily.
The second in command threw the knife in his hand to the bandits beside him and ordered, "Take them to my yard."
This means that they can diagnose and treat his hidden illness.
The bandits received the order and immediately started to act. Some of them cleaned up the corpses, while others held knives and forced them to follow the second in command to the yard deep in the stronghold.
Wen Wan was walking in the middle of the team, when suddenly she stopped.
"Oh no."
She pursed her lips, turned to Wen En and said, "Did you see the monk from Fuyun Temple just now?"
Winn thought about it carefully, then shook his head.
Wen Wan's face darkened, and she frowned and asked, "If we take action now, what are our chances of getting out?"
When Winn heard her say this, he also realized something.
He thought for a moment and said, "It's a good idea for you to use He Qing's jade pendant to go to Fengcheng to mobilize troops for our use, but the journey is long after all. Calculating the walking speed, the earliest they can arrive is tonight."
"And I only brought a team of light cavalry to support us. So... if we act now, our chances of escaping are less than 20%."
With a 20% chance of success, it is indeed not a good time to take action.
Wen Wan was also aware of the current situation. "But we don't have time. I was mistaken. I really thought that the monk from Fuyun Temple was here to treat the Second Master."
"You mean... that monk came to the village for other purposes?" Wen En asked in shock.
Wen Wan was about to explain when the bandit in front saw the two men stop and immediately started shouting and brandishing his knife.
"What are you two doing? Hurry up!"
Without time to explain, Wen Wan hesitated for a moment, rolled her eyes, and quickly walked forward, shouting directly at the second-in-command who was walking in front:
"Second in command! Second in command! Something big has happened!"
The second in command was eating walnuts and turned around. He saw that the person calling him was an old woman with wrinkles on her face. He immediately showed an expression of annoyance.
"Why are you yelling and screaming? I'm sparing your life only for the sake of your master..."
Wen Wan interrupted him and shouted, "Second Boss! The first boss is in danger, send someone to rescue him!"
Such a puzzling sentence left the second in command a little confused.
He stared at Wen Wan suspiciously, "Are you crazy, old woman? My eldest brother is fine, why should he be saved? You dare to speak alarmist words in front of me, believe it or not, I will chop you to pieces!"
At this time, Wen Wan was not afraid at all.
She asked loudly, "Second Master, were the monks from Fuyun Temple called away by the First Master?"
Hearing this, a strange look flashed across the second in command's face, but he still didn't give in.
"So what? The monks from Fuyun Temple are already friends with my eldest brother..."
Before he could finish, Wen Wan continued to ask, "Is it a friendship, or a feud? Second Master, this is a different time. I heard the monk say he was going to find an opportunity to kill the First Master and silence him."
The ambiguous words were confusing to others, but the second in command, who was well aware of the conflict between Baihu Village and Fuyun Temple, immediately changed his expression.
Wen Wan added, "Second Master, there are priorities. It's better to believe something than not. If you go too late, maybe the first master will really be beyond saving."
Perhaps these words touched the second in command. He gritted his teeth, left a few bandits to guard them, and took the others in another direction.
As soon as they left, Wen Wan turned and walked towards Master Li.
She got straight to the point and leaned close to his ear and said, "Inform Shen Yu that the monks from Fuyun Temple want to kill people to silence them. If he still wants to find out the truth, he must spare the life of the eldest master."
When Master Li heard the word "Chen Yu", shock was written all over his face.
"You, you, what are you doing..."
Wen Wan: "Now is not the time to talk about this. Your general will explain it to you later. Now hurry up and find a solution!"
She had a serious expression and knew their background.
Master Li hesitated for a moment, gritted his teeth, and started yelling, holding his stomach.
He pretended to have a stomachache and wanted to go to the toilet, and stuffed a silver note into the bandit's pocket. Then, under the supervision of a bandit, he walked towards another path.
Everyone waited there.
Wen En gave a wink to his two subordinates, and they protected Wen Wan in the middle, fearing that any accidents might happen.
He asked quietly, "Sister, did that monk really come here to kill the boss?"
Wen Wan nodded gravely, "Think about it, why has White Tiger Village, which used to have no shortage of money or horses, suddenly become so broke in the past few months?"
"You mean... there's a conflict between the White Tiger Village and the big shot who supports them?" Wen En understood immediately.
Wen Wan responded, "Think about it, these bandits are insatiable. Since they've done such a great thing for that important person, how could they not ask for a huge sum?"
"These bandits are asking for too much, and that important figure isn't stupid. How can he let them control him?"
"The bigwigs stopped providing supplies, so the bandits took the risk and even dared to rob the Fengcheng defenders."
