Chapter 160 World Twelve: Expedition

Xu Nuo finally failed to hold the gold chain.

The complicated chain slipped from the boy's fingertips like a handful of fine sand.

He Ye seemed a little strange like this, and Xu Nuo wanted to escape for no reason.

"I'm sleepy," Xu Nuo said with his eyes lowered, and quickly lay back on the couch, pretending to be an ostrich.

He didn't want to answer now, and He Ye didn't want to force him to make a decision.

"Have a good rest, baby."

Footsteps began to sound from near to far, followed by the sound of a door closing with a click. Xu Nuo sniffed under the covers, pounded the bed in anger, and poked his head out from under the covers.

As soon as he stuck his head out, his eyes met He Ye's. For some reason, the man returned to his bed, or maybe he didn't leave at all.

"What are you doing!" The boy thought he glared at him fiercely, but he didn't know that in his eyes it looked like flirting.

"I..." He Ye swallowed silently, his Adam's apple clearly rolling up and down, "The door wasn't closed tightly just now, and there was a draft."

Xu Nuo felt embarrassed, ashamed and annoyed. His emotions were particularly fragile during his illness, and the tears that had just subsided came back again.

"Go away!" the poor boy said, his nose and eyes red as a little rabbit. "Go away!"

"Don't... stop crying. Hit me, kick me, okay?"

He Ye didn't dare to step forward rashly. He could only stretch out his arms, hold the handkerchief and wipe the tears from his face. "Don't cry, don't cry. Your eyes must be hurting from crying."

This time he didn't resist, but stretched out a sockless foot to kick He Ye, landing squarely on the man's chest.

I don’t know if it was because he was too weak or because he couldn’t bear to let go of himself, but He Ye didn’t feel much pain. Instead, he felt a slight itch.

The hot big hand covered the chest of the feet that had not yet been retracted. The feet were as white and tender as the milk soup that night. However, even though there was a heating system in the palace, he had been staying in the quilt, so it was still frighteningly cold.

"Why is it so cold? Let me warm the baby up."

Xu Nuo hurriedly pulled his foot back, his face flushed red, "Don't touch it! It's dirty!"

"It's not dirty!" He Ye righteously warmed his feet with the warmth of his palms. Xu Nuo didn't know if it was a psychological effect, but he really felt that his body was warmer, and a warm current filled his whole body.

"If you don't leave, I'll call Mother," the young man looked away embarrassedly, imitating the fox's bullying. "Mother is already annoyed with you!"

This hit He Ye's soft spot. The Empress Dowager had never given him a good look during the two days when Xu Nuo was in a coma. She wished she could treat him like a plague god and never let him step into the palace, let alone touch her precious son.

"I don't care if the Empress Dowager doesn't like me." He Ye made sure the foot in his hand was warm before tucking it back into the quilt. "Where's Nuonuo?"

"I haven't forgiven you yet," Xu Nuo rolled over in the quilt, not looking at him, with a pout on his face. "Go away!"

He Ye smiled bitterly. He couldn't stay here all the time. First, his brother-in-law and mother-in-law were annoying him. Second, he couldn't get a good rest since he had made a promise here.

"Okay, come back tomorrow, baby, wait for me."

He made her look like she was red, and Xu Nuo was just glad that he couldn't see her red face now, it was too embarrassing.

"66, what's the heartbeat value?"

"100!" 666 replied happily, "It was full when Nuonuo fell asleep!"

Xu Nuo regained some dignity, rubbed himself contentedly on the bed, and fell into a sweet dream.

In the dream, he became a child, and the young queen mother, wearing the queen's phoenix robe, was gently wiping his mouth.

"Follow me closely, don't fall."

"I know," the little Xu Nuo in the dream responded sweetly, ran up to the little Xu Min, held his hand, and skipped out of the palace.

"Nono, today your royal brother will take you to play with He Ye."

"good!"

Xu Nuo was like a bystander, watching what would have happened if it weren't for those people's conspiracy. He grew up with He Ye and had never been separated from his brother and mother.

The boy's cheeks in his sleep were flushed, looking like peach petals that had just fallen.

"Um... He Ye," the boy seemed to have had a good dream, grinning and mumbling.

The Queen Mother, who had just stepped into the side hall, happened to see this scene. She sat down beside his couch helplessly and brushed away the loose hair that was stuck to his forehead due to sweat. "Little fool."

Xu Nuo's illness came on quickly this time, and he passed away quickly under the care of the imperial physician and his mother. He wanted to get out of bed the next day.

"No," the Queen Mother stopped him disapprovingly, "Nono is just right, be more careful."

Xu Nuo didn't want to make his mother worry, so he answered softly and retreated back into the quilt.

"Good boy." Perhaps because he had missed out on his entire childhood, the Queen Mother always liked to talk to him like a child. "I'll go make you some sweet soup to take away the bitterness."

"Mother, please take a rest," Xu Nuo took one of her hands and rubbed it.

"Your Majesty, you are not tired," the Queen Mother smiled and pressed the corner of her eye, "Your Majesty, your sweet soup is the best. Wait."

Xu Nuo looked at her retreating figure and curled his lips slightly. Is this what it feels like to be loved by family? It's so good.

The room didn't remain quiet for long before another voice was heard.

"Nono, I'm here."

He Ye climbed in from the window of the side hall, his previous decadence and abnormality completely gone.

"Who asked you to come?"

He was secretly excited in his heart, but he refused to show a good look on his face.

"I brought a gift for my baby." He Ye looked at him and smiled warmly. If you ignore his tall and strong figure, he looks like a scholar. "Look."

It was stars, paper stars of many colors placed in a brocade box. Occasionally, some of them had traces of ink on them, probably because they had also imitated his writing.

"You saw it..." Xu Nuo tilted his head, revealing his pink ears.

"Yeah," He Ye admitted frankly, his voice a little lonely at the end, "I saw it too late."

Xu Nuo snatched the small box. He didn't know how he learned to do it, but he folded it much better than himself.

"It's delivered. You can go now."

He Ye found his awkward look funny and couldn't help but touch his furry head with his paw. "I can't come the day after tomorrow. I have to go back to the barracks."

He paused stroking the paper star, his fingertips turning pale as they pressed against the wooden box. "Why?"

"Southern Kingdom," He Ye's eyes turned cold, "I will go and pacify the Southern Kingdom."

Since it is a war, it was decided by the emperor, his ministers and the whole country, and it cannot be changed. Xu Nuo felt a pang of pain in his heart.

"How long will it take you to be back?"

"Before the Chinese New Year, I will definitely come back to spend the New Year with my baby."

Xu Nuo turned his face away, trying hard to hold back his tears, "I don't want you to come back bloody."

This is caring about me, you little weirdo. He Ye's expression suddenly softened.

"No, they don't have that ability."

"I have to come back well and continue to make amends to my baby."

Xu Nuo sniffed, and a disobedient tear fell and wet a paper star.

"I'm glad you know."
