Chapter 3 World 1: Can I treat you to a meal?

Two days had passed since the last declaration of war against Long Qi, and 666 hadn't issued any new missions. Xu Nuo was content with his free time, attending school for one class each day, then spending time shopping with his mother and playing games at home. Xu Nuo's decadent lifestyle was quickly put to rest by 666.

"Nono! Even though the mission hasn't been triggered yet, you still have to take action. Don't forget that our main mission is to let the male protagonist achieve the ending of finding love!" 666 has been muttering to himself since morning.

Xu Nuo wasn't annoyed by his wake-up call. He struggled to get out of his blanket, sleepily rubbing his eyes, which hadn't yet fully opened. "66, you're so dedicated... ha..." He yawned before he finished, wanting to lie back down. 666 quickly transformed into a puppy and bit his sleeve, preventing Xu Nuo from falling back asleep.

Xu Nuo was much more sober now. He smiled embarrassedly at 666, took a deep breath while holding the puppy, and slowly climbed down from the bed.

666 leaned in his arms and hummed, as if he had completely adapted to his puppy identity.

Xu Nuo washed up, dressed, and prepared to leave for school. Knowing yourself and your enemy ensures victory in every battle. Xu Nuo planned to secretly observe Long Qi for a few days before deciding what type of beautiful woman to match him with. After all, Long Qi didn't seem to be interested in the innocent Lin Yaya, and he had a straight-laced, indifferent personality.

Xu Nuo is a freshman in the Fine Arts Department, while the male protagonist, Long Qi, is a junior in the Finance Department. Xu Nuo secretly buys the Finance Department's class schedule from someone on campus online, and sneaks into the Finance Department classroom wearing a baseball cap and a mask, thinking he's being discreet. In reality, Xu Nuo is immediately noticed by most people.

The "beauty girl" among the freshmen in the art department is instantly recognizable even by just her eyes. Xu Nuo, unaware of her own celebrity status, would be mortified if she knew she, a boy, had been crowned the beauty. So, Agent Xu Nuo, carrying her small backpack, inched her way to an empty seat behind the male protagonist and took her place.

Long Qi had noticed Xu Nuo the moment he entered the classroom. Seeing that Xu Nuo was clearly coming for him, Long Qi sat still, waiting for the kitten to come over. Unexpectedly, Xu Nuo sat behind him, even though there was an empty seat next to him. From the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of the boy next to Xu Nuo, whose face had turned red the moment Xu Nuo sat down. Long Qi, who had been calm for a while, felt a rare flicker of displeasure.

Xu Nuo had wanted to observe the male lead, but she fell asleep in the Finance teacher's lecture, nodding her head. Long Qi couldn't help but smile. As get out of class was about to end, 666 issued a new task: "Task 2: The cannon fodder young master openly bullies the male lead."

Xu Nuo patted his face to dispel the sleepiness, and in his little head, he tried hard to think of how to complete the task without making an enemy of the male protagonist. His eyes swept over the water glass on the male protagonist's table, and Xu Nuo had an idea.

The hero in the original novel was struggling to start a business during his college years and was living in poverty. While other classmates were drinking milk tea and beverages, the hero always only had a worn-out water cup. Later, he was pranked by a cannon fodder whose name was not even mentioned in the book. The cannon fodder broke the lid of the hero's water cup and filled it with hot water, trying to scald the hero and make a fool of himself in public. Then the cannon fodder came out to mock the hero's poor and low-quality water cup.

Unfortunately, the cannon fodder in the book was naturally no match for the hero’s halo, and most of the hot water spilled fell on the cannon fodder.

Xu Nuo recalled the original storyline and decided to complete the cannon fodder's plot points first. He absolutely only broke the hero's water cup; he absolutely wouldn't let him get hurt! Xu Nuo secretly encouraged himself, but also felt sorry for the hero, who, at an age when everyone was competing with each other, could only live a unique and frugal life, and was bullied by cannon fodder. How pitiful! Xu Nuo gritted his teeth, holding back the tears that threatened to flow from his overflowing empathy, and walked towards the hero with clear purpose.

After approaching the male protagonist, she staggered and pretended to accidentally knock over the cup. The system task completion prompt sounded, indicating that Xu Nuo had completed the task. However, Xu Nuo wanted to cry, but she couldn't cry. Why was there boiling water in the cup? Was I the smart aleck in the book?

The hot water splashed onto the back of Xu Nuo's hand, and the originally white and tender back of his hand instantly turned red. Xu Nuo was afraid of pain, and this time he really couldn't keep his body steady. He screamed in pain and was about to fall to the ground.

A pair of strong hands pulled Xu Nuo up from the brink of collapse, and he fell into a broad, warm embrace. Xu Nuo sniffed, and even though his hands hurt, he still had to be polite and thank the person.

Xu Nuo raised his head and looked at the owner in his arms, and Long Qi's deep and handsome face appeared in his field of vision. "The mission is also messed up," Xu Nuo thought, and the tears that were about to burst out could no longer be held back and rolled down.

"Thank you...thank you." Xu Nuo frowned and choked out a word of thank you.

Long Qi frowned as he looked at the red back of his hand, then picked him up and walked towards the infirmary.

Xu Nuo was just over 170cm tall and looked like a child in the arms of the tall Long Qi. Xu Nuo didn't know where Long Qi was taking him, but seeing the male protagonist's gloomy expression, he spoke in a trembling voice, "I'm sorry... I broke your water cup. I'll give you a new one. Please don't be angry, okay?"

Long Qi lowered his head and looked at him helplessly, "I'm not angry, I'll be at the infirmary soon... Don't be afraid." Looking at Xu Nuo who was like a frightened kitten, Long Qi finally tried to coax him, "Don't be afraid." Others might find it creepy. Long Qi, who has always been aloof and sinister, doesn't seem like the one who can comfort others. But stupid Xu Nuo just felt relieved. It seems that the male protagonist didn't hold a grudge against him.

Xu Nuo, who had let go of his worries and was no longer afraid, didn't realize anything was wrong. He held up his burned hand and changed to a more comfortable position in Long Qi's arms, groaning as if he had suffered a great injustice.
