It wasn't until noon that Xu Nuo slowly woke up. He had finally slept soundly, as if he had returned to the days of his lover in previous worlds. The moment he opened his eyes, he saw Wang Hai standing before the couch. Seeing that he was awake, Wang Hai finally unwrinkled his face, which had been wrinkled like a chrysanthemum.
"Your Majesty, you are finally awake. Are you feeling better?"
Xu Nuo nodded, still a little weak, "Grandpa, have you been guarding here all the time? Go and rest."
Wang Hai shook his head and came forward to wipe the sweat off his face.
"The Regent has been guarding Your Majesty all night. This old servant is not tired."
Xu Nuo was a little surprised to hear Xiao Jinyan's name, but didn't say much.
Seeing that he looked calm, Wang Hai couldn't help but nag a few more words.
"Your Majesty, please do not get angry again. Take care of your health."
Xu Nuo nodded, but he was still angry at Xiao Jinyan. "Don't worry, Grandpa. I won't be sad because of him anymore."
As Xiao Jinyan walked outside the hall, he heard the conversation inside. He felt a void in his heart, and a cold wind was blowing in. He paused, but walked in anyway.
Xu Nuo looked over when he heard the sound, and saw Xiao Jinyan's face, turning his head away. Xiao Jinyan thought he was like the kitten next door when he was a child, who would deliberately turn his head away from people when he was angry with them. It was so cute.
"Your humble servant pays respect to Your Majesty."
Xu Nuo ignored him and closed his eyes, pretending to sleep. Xiao Jinyan was not annoyed, but stood aside and watched him patiently.
"What's the matter, uncle? If not, please leave. I'm tired." Xu Nuo finally lost his patience and spoke.
"Your Majesty, the dragon looks better."
Xu Nuo remained silent and ignored him.
"Your Majesty, General Lin has defeated the barbarians at the border and will arrive in the capital soon."
Xu Nuo knew he was just making small talk and didn't bother to give him any perfunctory response. "Just get ready, Lord Regent."
This time he didn't even want to call him the emperor's uncle.
"Nono, Nono, here comes the plot point from the original book! General Lin's son, Lin Qi, is the protagonist's right-hand man in the original novel. You're trying to win him over to serve you, but of course you'll be slapped in the face in the end~"
"I see," Xu Nuo replied with little interest.
"I have heard of General Lin's good reputation for a long time. When the army returns to Beijing, let General Lin come to see me." Xu Nuo tilted his head and said to Wang Hai.
Xiao Jinyan said this without any hesitation. In the original novel, the young emperor's intention to completely break up with the male protagonist was obvious, but now Xiao Jinyan just frowned slightly.
"Lin Qi is a reckless person, and he doesn't take things lightly. I'm afraid he might offend Your Majesty."
"Hasn't the Imperial Uncle offended me?" Xu Nuo interrupted him, and Xiao Jinyan was speechless for a moment.
"Pass the order down." Xu Nuo looked at Wang Hai.
Wang Hai bowed respectfully and accepted the order.
"Your Majesty...I beg Your Majesty to forgive me for all my past mistakes."
Xu Nuo was silent for a while, "Uncle, please go back."
Xiao Jinyan lowered his eyes and looked at him, concealing the emotions in his eyes, but the clenched fists hanging at his sides revealed the owner's state of mind.
When Xiao Jinyan was about to step out of Funing Palace, he heard the voice behind him again, "If there is nothing else, there is no need for the emperor's uncle to come."
Xiao Jinyan was startled as he stepped forward, and walked out pretending not to hear anything. However, his back looked a little flustered as he walked out the door.
"Nono, are you really going to draw a line between you and the male protagonist...?" 666 asked tentatively.
Xu Nuo snorted bitterly, "Let's see how he performs."
Over the next three days, Xu Nuo's health improved day by day, and he was finally able to walk around freely. However, Wang Hai was always worried and followed him around, groaning, fearing that he would relapse.
Xiao Jinyan really hasn't appeared in the past few days. Xu Nuo pretends not to care, but he dreams about his past with his lover every night.
Xiao Jinyan practically lived in the Imperial Study for the past three days, meticulously reading every memorial, no matter if it was important or just a trivial complaint, filling his days with it. Whenever he was quiet, he couldn't help but think of the little emperor curled up in his arms that night, and the soft touch of their lips against each other.
As a minister, his coveting of the monarch was a heinous crime; from a moral and ethical perspective, the young emperor called him uncle, and he should not have any other thoughts about his nephew.
Xiao Jinyan put down the memorial in his hand, exhaled a breath, and pinched his eyebrows tiredly.
"Your Highness." A black figure suddenly appeared in front of Xiao Jinyan.
"explain."
"General Lin seems to have known in advance that the emperor would summon him, and he left the main force and arrived in the capital first."
"Stop Lin Qi and don't let him offend His Majesty."
Ying paused, "The young general has just arrived at Funing Palace."
Xiao Jinyan stood up with a gloomy expression and said, "Let's go to Funing Palace."
Along the way, Xiao Jinyan was surrounded by an aura of impending storm. Ying Yi thought that he was angry that the little emperor was going to make trouble again and take away the military power. Little did he know that his master was simply afraid that the little emperor would be bewitched by Lin Qi.
The boy’s clear voice that day seemed to still be ringing in my ears.
"I've heard of General Lin's good reputation for a long time..." The young man didn't even bother to glance at him, but he couldn't wait to meet Lin Qi?
They soon arrived at Funing Palace. As Xiao Jinyan entered the gate, he saw the young emperor clinging to Lin Qi, the two sitting together at a stone table beneath a tree in the courtyard. Xu Nuo's eyes sparkled as he listened intently to Lin Qi, while Lin Qi gesticulated, his ears reddened as he spoke, seemingly enjoying the young emperor's admiration.
Xiao Jinyan's nails were almost digging into his palms. The harmonious scene between the emperor and his ministers in front of him seemed particularly dazzling to him.
"Your Majesty, I pay my respects to you." Xiao Jinyan began to salute.
Xu Nuo glanced at him, then quickly returned his gaze to Lin Qi.
