It’s not that Xu Nuo doesn’t want to be closer to his lover, but he is probably deeply influenced by the world consciousness. Compared to the moody Lang Heng, two capybaras who only know how to eat grass, sleep and bathe are more attractive in his eyes.
Xu Nuo's work today was easy, only half the morning, with another keeper's shift in the afternoon. Xu Nuo petted the capybara one last time, then got up, went to the lounge, changed his clothes, and prepared to go home.
"66, should I speed up the process? I've been neglecting Little Wolf these past few days..."
666 was probably just amusing himself by playing the role of a puppy again, and replied perfunctorily, "Anyway, the male lead will like you no matter what, so it's up to you."
Xu Nuo laughed, "Does world consciousness also affect the system? You've become much more stable now."
The man and the other were chatting idly in their minds, and no one noticed the approaching danger.
It was not until Xu Nuo turned into a shorter path that he suddenly realized someone was following him.
"Nono! Be careful!" 666 warned loudly.
Xu Nuo dodged to the other side, but a massive gray wolf appeared out of nowhere. He felt himself suddenly enveloped in a strange mist, and before he could even call for help, he lost consciousness.
When Xu Nuo woke up again, he felt weak all over, his hands and feet tied and leaning against a big tree. Xu Nuo quietly opened his eyes and looked around. Although he was sweating and his hands and feet were shaking uncontrollably, he forced himself to calm down.
He was probably taken to some deep mountain forest, surrounded by ancient trees of varying heights, each of which would require two adults to hug. The sunlight was divided by the lush leaves, leaving only a few tiny beams of light hitting the ground, and the air was filled with the unique smell of plants and soil.
Xu Nuo swallowed his saliva. There was no one around, and even the chirping of birds was seldom heard. The real purpose of the gray wolf that kidnapped him was probably Lang Heng. The gray wolf also had a certain level of cultivation. His only two life-saving straws now were 666 and Lang Heng, who didn't know whether he had disappeared or not.
"66, are you there?" Xu Nuo called desperately in his mind.
"I... I'm here..." 666's mechanical voice trembled, sounding even more frightened than he was. "I'll definitely not come to the fantasy world next time. There's such a huge wolf demon."
Xu Nuo probably knew that 666 was of little use, but he still asked unwillingly, "Didn't you say before that I could buy items from your store after completing the mission? And that you could even transfer me back to the system space?"
666 felt guilty. "Our system says this to win over the host and bind them. Nono, you have to complete all the world quests to get a chance to shop. And the system space... after you return to the system space, the outside world will temporarily stop. When you come out, you will still be kidnapped here..."
Xu Nuo took a few deep breaths, and his anger dispelled some of his fear.
"Awake?" a hoarse voice sounded.
The gray wolf from a while ago reappeared, gazing at Xu Nuo with a sinister expression. The wolf was enormous, with a horrific scar over its right eye that looked like it had been burned. Even if Xu Nuo could stand before it, he would probably be nothing more than a harmless rabbit.
The gray wolf walked a little closer, approaching Xu Nuo and sniffing his scent, "Did Lang Heng leave any scent on you? Aren't you his female beast?"
At such a close distance, Xu Nuo could clearly see every hair on the gray wolf, and the unpleasant smell of blood from the animal also penetrated into his nostrils.
"Well... you got the wrong guy. I just saw him yesterday." Xu Nuo turned his head to defend himself, but in his heart he couldn't stop begging Lang Heng to come and rescue him quickly or for the gray wolf to be kind enough to let him go.
"Tsk," the gray wolf looked very dissatisfied, "Then I might as well eat you."
After saying this, his sharp, white canine teeth were exposed, and there seemed to be shiny saliva hanging from the corners of his mouth.
"No...don't." Xu Nuo's body was stiff and his face was pale. He wanted to escape, but the ropes around him tightened around him. He didn't know if it was tears or sweat that rolled down his cheeks. He could only desperately call out his lover's name, "Lang Heng..."
With a "bang", the gray wolf that was just a few inches away was flipped over.
"Get out, stay away from him." A black wolf appeared, knocked the gray wolf away, protected Xu Nuo behind him, but the words spoken were from Lang Heng's voice.
Gray Wolf climbed up again, grinning grimly, "Lang Heng, so you really were seriously injured in the thunder tribulation. Tsk tsk, your strength is not as strong as before."
Lang Heng did not answer. He swung his claws and released a burst of energy. The rope on Xu Nuo's body broke with a sound. Then he pounced forward like a black lightning, with his sharp claws and fangs pointing directly at the gray wolf's vital point.
The gray wolf also showed its claws and rushed forward, and the two giant wolves wrestled back and forth with each other.
A voice suddenly appeared in Xu Nuo's mind, "Leave here and find a safe place to hide."
666 explained, "Lang Heng is sending you a message, hurry up, Nuonuo!"
No matter how worried Xu Nuo was about Lang Heng, he knew that this was not a melodramatic plot in a movie or TV show. If he, a powerless human, stayed where he was, it would only make it easier for the gray wolf to restrain Lang Heng and affect Lang Heng's performance.
"Are you still distracted, Lang Heng?" The gray wolf seemed to seize the opportunity and gave Lang Heng a fierce blow.
Xu Nuo covered his red wrist and looked back at Lang Heng while holding back his tears. Dust and smoke were flying around the two wolves, making it difficult to see clearly. He could only stagger away.
Seeing Xu Nuo leave, Lang Heng breathed a sigh of relief and raised his claws to attack fiercely. The injuries he suffered in the thunder tribulation had not yet healed. Although he had risen a level, his physical condition was no longer as good as it was at its peak.
Gray Wolf was once part of Lang Heng's pack, achieving considerable accomplishments in cultivation, even at one point being second only to Lang Heng. However, a wolf pack can only have one leader. Gray Wolf, along with a group of wild wolves from outside, rebelled against the pack and attacked Lang Heng. After being defeated, he narrowly escaped death and disappeared. Only recently did Gray Wolf accidentally learn that Lang Heng had been severely injured after a thunder tribulation, leaving him much weaker than before. He then overheard a conversation among his pack members about Lang Heng's closeness to a human in the human world, and this sparked a renewed desire to fight Lang Heng to the bitter end.
