I am pleased with you

I am pleased with you

I thought you should have understood my feelings long ago.

These words echoed in Bai Miaoke's mind for a long time, and it took her a while to react.

Seeing Lu Yu's rare expression of nervousness, Bai Miaoke no longer felt shy.

She had never thought that the powerful official in front of her was so cute. She suppressed her smile and asked seriously, "What are you thinking?"

"I like you." Lu Yu blurted out.

He has never been an indecisive person. Now that he has made up his mind, it is no longer difficult for him to express his feelings.

After hearing his answer, Bai Miaoke felt her heart beating faster.

Before I could savor it carefully, I couldn't help but put on a sweet smile.

Apart from anything else, she felt that Lu Yu was a very good-looking man from the first moment she saw him, and it would be a great idea to kidnap him to be a son-in-law of the Bai family. Only after she knew that he was the prime minister did she give up the idea.

Later, the two of them had more contact, and she more or less became aware of Lu Yu's thoughts. Otherwise, he would not have left a handkerchief for him after everyone left in Yecheng. She had thought that if they returned to Beijing, they might be able to renew their past relationship.

Unexpectedly, he came to her door on his own initiative, chasing her all the way here and taking so much effort to keep her for a day.

Imagining the situation of Lu Yu becoming the son-in-law of the Bai family, Bai Miaoke couldn't help but want to laugh, but she met his serious eyes.

She calmly shifted her gaze away, and when she looked down, she saw the calluses on his knuckles caused by the reins.

She remembered that these hands were as slender and flawless as jade a few days ago, but in just a few days they had become visibly rougher. Bai Miaoke gradually restrained her smile, and felt both sour and sweet in her heart. This feeling was very new to her.

After a moment's silence she raised her head again.

He smiled and blinked at Lu Yu, then slowly said, "I am very happy to receive your kindness, sir."

Lu Yu felt like her heart was about to jump out of her chest. She was so nervous that she waited for this ambiguous answer. She didn't understand its meaning, so she could only pretend to be calm and asked, "What do you think of me, Miss Bai?"

Bai Miaoke looked at his flawless and handsome face, and could see that he had lost some weight in recent days, which made him look even cooler. She swallowed silently, thinking that she should be more reserved and not scare him away.

So he said after careful consideration: "It's OK."

This ambiguous answer made Lu Yu a little confused, but he regained some confidence and decided to continue to test her attitude: "Lu is also going to Jiangnan, Miss Bai, are you willing to go with me?"

Now that the man had caught up to her, Bai Miaoke naturally didn't have the strength to refuse anymore. She nodded and agreed, completely forgetting that she had left without saying goodbye a few days ago.

Lu Yu didn't expect her to agree so easily, and couldn't help asking: "Then why did you leave last time?"

Bai Miaoke was still immersed in the beautiful dream of the prime minister becoming her son-in-law. After he reminded her, she remembered this and said softly, "I am not your subordinate. I don't want to listen to you completely. If there is any disagreement..."

As someone who was used to being in a high position with great power, Lu Yu was used to being in charge of the overall situation, but she never thought that she would leave because of this.

He understood what she had not said yet, and thought that she was still the willful young lady, so he should just go along with her.

So he nodded and agreed: "Okay, it's up to you."

After all, it took a lot of effort to get close to the butterfly. Lu Yu didn't want to scare her away again, so he reminded himself to be more patient.

After hearing his words, Bai Miaoke smiled with satisfaction and stared at him with sparkling eyes.

I thought, if he could listen to me, he would be a perfect husband.

So both of them felt that their future was bright.

When the two men finished their conversation and came out of the room, Zhong Ren, who was waiting outside in fear, saw a high-spirited prime minister and a smiling... scholar.

That’s right, Bai Miaoke is still dressed like a scholar.

After she went out, she smiled at everyone and said, "Please find a doctor. The person inside is injured." There was no guilt in her tone for hurting anyone, as if she was a kind-hearted person who was brave enough to do something righteous.

How come someone else was injured? Everyone looked at each other in confusion.

Bai Miaoke left nonchalantly, fanning herself with a folding fan. She was a little excited and needed to find a place to expend some energy.

So he took Chunxing to the street.

Although Changzhou is a small town, the streets are very lively. Bai Miaoke and Chun Xing had dinner at a wonton stall, and shared with her the conversation he had just had with Lu Yu.

"The Prime Minister really likes the young lady!" Chun Xing exclaimed in surprise.

Bai Miaoke quickly covered her mouth, "Keep your voice down! There are so many people around."

After finishing the job, she pretentiously combed her hair and waved the folding fan in her hand, and changed her address, "I am your big brother, so charming, it is normal for him to like me."

This made Chun Xing laugh and agree: "Of course, I have never seen anyone more powerful than my brother."

Bai Miaoke nodded, took a bite of wonton, and suddenly thought of something, and asked vaguely: "Do you think he is attracted by my kung fu?"

"No way... Prime Minister, didn't Mr. Lu tell you the reason?" Chun Xing almost let the cat out of the bag again.

"No, I'll ask when I have a chance." Bai Miaoke replied.

"How did the lady answer him?" Chun Xing was curious.

"I thought it was okay. For a pedantic intellectual like him, I'm afraid he wouldn't be able to accept it if it was too fast." Bai Miaoke felt that she was very clever.

Chun Xing nodded, and then thought of a new question: "Then if we go the same way as them, won't we have to slow down again?"

"No, he said he would listen to me, so let him ride a horse too." Bai Miaoke said indifferently.

They finished their wontons while chatting and laughing, then bought a few strings of candied haws on the street and walked towards the inn while eating.

When she reached the door, she saw Fugui standing there looking around. As soon as he saw her, he trotted forward and said, "Mr. Bai, my young master is waiting for you upstairs."

Bai Miaoke nodded: "I'll go up to find him."

With a string of candied haws in each hand, he went to Lu Yu's room on the second floor.

When she entered the room, she found him standing in front of the table, not knowing what to do. Bai Miaoke walked over and handed him a string of candied haws.

Lu Yu doesn't like sweet food and hasn't eaten this kind of snack for many years, but she still reached out to take it, but just held it in her hand without moving.

"I went to the street specially to buy it for you." Bai Miaoke said without hesitation.

Hearing this, Lu Yu looked at the half-eaten string of candied haws in her hand, raised his own string and bit off a hawthorn, the sweet and sour taste blooming in his mouth, he smiled and said, "Thank you."

Seeing him eating, Bai Miaoke asked, "Do you like it?"

Lu Yu answered against his will: "I like it."

Bai Miaoke smiled slyly, "Then eat more, don't let me down."

The candied haws she bought this time were too sour and she really couldn't eat them. So she wanted to see Lu Yu's sour expression.

But the man calmly bit off another hawthorn, ate it without changing his expression, and didn't even frown.

Bai Miaoke was puzzled: Isn’t the skewer he is eating sour?

So she curiously took the string from his hand and bit off one before he could react.

Lu Yu's words "That's what I ate" were stuck in his throat, and he touched his ears awkwardly.

"So sour! How can you eat this?" Bai Miaoke's delicate little face wrinkled, and such an exaggerated action made her even more adorable.

Lu Yu looked at her rosy mouth with a hawthorn in it, unable to spit it out or swallow it, and laughed out loud.

He picked up an empty teacup on the table and put it to her lips, saying, "Spit it out."

Without saying a word, Bai Miaoke spat out the hawthorn that was so sour that it made her cry, and drank a cup of tea before she felt better.

"Are you kidding me?" Bai Miaoke began to settle the score, completely forgetting her original bad intention of teasing him.

"I didn't mean it, I just don't want to let you down," Lu Yu explained helplessly.

Bai Miaoke snorted lightly to indicate that she would not bother with him, and then she remembered the important matter.

"By the way, what do you want to talk to me about?" Bai Miaoke asked.

"Discuss tomorrow's route with you." Lu Yu looked down.

Bai Miaoke then noticed that there was a map on the table with some circles and dots on it.

"There are two roads to choose from. Which one do you want to take?" Lu Yu pointed at the two roads on the map.

Bai Miaoke looked in the direction where his finger pointed. One road was obviously a remote path, and the other was quite winding, but it looked like it could reach Liancheng before dark.

"How about this one?" Bai Miaoke stretched out her index finger and pointed at his hand that was pointing at the second road.

Feeling the warmth on the back of his hand, Lu Yu's breathing stagnated. He forced his eyes to focus on the map and replied, "But, we have to take the water route to Liancheng."

Bai Miaoke nodded, and couldn't help but touch the back of Lu Yu's hand where the veins were visibly bulging, then she withdrew her hand as if nothing had happened.

Not noticing that Lu Yu's ears were quietly turning red again, Bai Miaoke smiled happily, "Okay, I haven't walked on the water yet."

Lu Yu nodded: "We will set off at 11:00 tomorrow. Have a good rest."

Bai Miaoke had already walked to the door. She was really tired from chasing people, fighting and shopping today. She took one last look at the handsome man and prepared to go back to have a good sleep.

But after hearing this, Bai Miaoke took back the foot that had just stepped out of the door. She turned around and asked in shock, "Mao Zheng is leaving?"

Lu Yu nodded, "What's wrong?"

"It's too early!" Bai Miaoke looked embarrassed.

"Then..." Lu Yu was very hesitant. In his opinion, it was already very late at dawn. After all, he often got up at dawn to study or handle official business.

"It will be about an hour later." Bai Miaoke said as a matter of course.

Lu Yu frowned, estimating the time it would take to get there. Just as he was about to retort, Bai Miaoke quickly added, "There's still time, and you can do whatever I say."

After these words were spoken, Prime Minister Lu had no way to refute them and could only nod in compromise, but he was also worried that he would drive the person away again.

Bai Miaoke then waved her hand and left.

The room suddenly became quiet. Lu Yu was still standing in front of the table, his eyes fixed on the string of candied haws that Bai Miaoke brought him.

There were already two missing candied haws on the candied haws, but he put on a smile, picked up the remaining candied haws and continued to eat slowly despite the sour taste.

So when Fugui entered the room, he was surprised to find that his son was eating a string of candied haws that looked to be worth only two cents, and there was only one left.

After Lu Yu finished the last candied haws, he drank a sip of tea to relieve his numb tongue, and said to Fugui, who was still stunned, "We will set off at noon tomorrow."

Fugui was even more surprised. Not to mention that time was tight for the journey, even in the capital it was rare for the master to be so late.

"She can't get up." Perhaps because he was in a good mood, Lu Yu rarely explained a little more.

"By the way, sir, Miss Bai just asked for two thousand taels of silver... to redeem someone." Fugui remembered that he came here to report important matters.

Lu Yu: Why does this scene look so familiar?
