Ruining my good deeds

Ruining my good deeds

In a blink of an eye, dusk fell. The boat was still moving slowly on the vast river, but the atmosphere on the boat was not peaceful.

After Fugui and his companions dealt with the corpse, they stood guard at the door, always on the lookout for any movement around them.

But the ship fell into dead silence. The lack of any movement was the most frightening thing, as if it was the calm before the storm.

Bai Miaoke and Lu Yu in the room acted as if nothing had happened. They sat opposite each other and played chess in front of the window.

Bai Miaoke watched helplessly as Lu Yu placed a black piece on the chessboard, swallowing up a large number of her own pieces.

She threw the chess piece in her hand in a disrespectful manner: "I don't want to play anymore. I told you I'm not good at chess."

She wanted to help deal with the assassins, but Lu Yu refused and insisted on keeping her to play chess.

"Lu Yu didn't insist on it anymore. He dropped the black chess piece in his hand, his eyes still on the chessboard, but he suddenly asked something irrelevant: "How good are you at swimming?"

"I'm fine, what's wrong?" Bai Miaoke was confused by his sudden question.

"That's good." He then took a white piece from the chess basket in front of her and placed it for her.

Bai Miaoke lowered her eyes to see where he had placed his pieces, and she discovered that her loose chess game had come alive again.

"Do you suspect that they have a backup plan?" Bai Miaoke vaguely guessed Lu Yu's intention and asked.

Lu Yu's expression remained calm and he did not answer her question. Instead, he avoided the topic again and said:

"If you run into trouble in Jiangnan, you can go to the Xu family in Gusu for help. Just say it's an appointment with an old friend."

"The matter of the Grand Master involves too many things. If it is really difficult to find out, then go back to the capital and continue to be the young master. Don't make things difficult for yourself."

Bai Miaoke interrupted him suspiciously: "Wait a minute, what do you want to say?"

Lu Yu was not annoyed by being interrupted. Instead, he raised the corners of his lips and looked directly into her watery eyes and said word by word: "I want to say that I am truly attracted to you, nothing else matters."

Bai Miaoke's puzzled expression faded away and she stood there in a daze.

She didn't know why Lu Yu suddenly expressed his feelings, but she clearly saw his clear and deep eyes filled with love under the moonlight.

I don't know whose heartbeat was out of rhythm, but it was particularly obvious in the silent night, breaking the barrier between the two people again and again.

"I..." Bai Miaoke had just uttered one syllable when a slender finger pressed against her lips, stopping her words.

"I'm not in a hurry. If possible, we still have a lot of time." Lu Yu felt his fingers touching the girl's warm lips and slowly withdrew his hand.

The hand was retracted into the sleeve, gently clenched into a fist, and twisted again and again, as if this could preserve that moment of tenderness.

Bai Miaoke's words were stuck in her throat, so she simply stopped talking and just quietly used her eyes to depict Lu Yu's picturesque eyebrows and eyes under the moonlight.

Suddenly she recalled the day when they first met, and she also looked at him under the cold moonlight. She found that even after several months, she still couldn't get enough of looking at this face.

She couldn't help but imagine that it wouldn't be bad if she could face this face every day.

As I thought about it, a smile unconsciously appeared on the corners of my lips.

The love between a man and a woman, meeting under the moon, was clearly a beautiful thing in the world, but it was broken by a sudden shout.

"Be careful!" Rong Qing's voice was accompanied by several sounds of breaking through the air. The door was knocked open, and a man in black holding a sword landed lightly in the house.

The sword turned and stabbed straight at Lu Yu by the window. Rong Qing followed closely behind, raised his sword and stepped forward, and the two men fought each other.

In the flash of swords and sabers, the two were evenly matched.

When the two were in a stalemate, two men in black broke through the guards' obstruction and rushed into the room.

Lu Yu still sat calmly by the window, but his hand hidden in his sleeve was tightly holding a black jade dagger.

This dagger was given to him by Bai Miaoke on the first day she got on board, saying it was a little gadget for him as his "husband" who would marry into the family. Unexpectedly, it would come in handy today.

The black jade handle was warm, but not half as hot as his palm. Seeing that Rong Qing and the others were gradually unable to take care of themselves, a man in black gradually approached.

Bai Miaoke stood up, pulled out the long whip from her waist, and smiled at Lu Yu: "Be careful, husband. I'll go deal with these guys who are ruining my business."

Lu Yu frowned in disapproval and reached out to stop her, but the woman who had been sitting quietly beside him playing chess just now rushed out like a gust of wind.

The word "be careful" got stuck in his throat, and for the first time he regretted not working hard at practicing martial arts.

The joining of Bai Miaoke suddenly reduced the pressure on Rong Qing and others. Her clothes fluttered and the long whip in her hand left an afterimage, causing the skin of several men in black to be torn and the sound of broken bones could be heard continuously.

Just as the men in black were about to be defeated, several hidden arrows were shot from outside, and several guards were unable to dodge and were hit in the arms.

Everyone looked around cautiously, but did not find the source of the hidden arrow.

"Be careful on the shore." Lu Yu reminded behind him.

Everyone realized that the boat was very close to the shore. There was a faint flash of cold light in the grass on the opposite bank, but they could not see how many people were on the other side.

Seeing this situation, even the well-trained Jinyiwei couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat.

With external support, the men in black seemed to be energized. The guards fought hard, but several of them fell directly to the ground.

"Everyone be careful, the arrow is poisonous!" Bai Miaoke noticed something from the reactions of several people.

She picked up a long sword from the ground, held the whip in one hand and the sword in the other, and swung the sword to shoot down the arrow that was shot at her again.

She stabbed a man in black with her backhand, and blood spurted out, splashing on the light apricot dress she was wearing that day, like a red plum.

Lu Yu watched the increasingly fierce fight with a frosty face, his sharp eyes fixed on Bai Miaoke who was fighting with the man in black.

Although she was still agile and decisive in her moves, as more and more guards were shot and fell, Bai Miaoke was surrounded by several men in black.

Her clothes were already stained with blood, and her eyes, which usually had a smile on their faces, were now filled with murderous intent. She had just raised her sword to block an attack when another killing move came from the side. She had no time to dodge, so she swung out her whip to wrap around the blade, and the long whip broke with a sound.

Bai Miaoke looked at the broken whip in her hand angrily. Rage burst out from her chest. She threw the remaining section of the whip straight into the man's chest, killing him with one blow.

This whip was given to her by her master when she first started learning martial arts. It has been with her for many years. She didn't expect it to be broken here. She was extremely angry and her moves became more and more ferocious.

But Bai Miaoke couldn't stand the repeated attacks from the men in black, and she had to be on guard against the hidden arrows at all times. She gradually became exhausted, and her movements slowed down, resulting in several wounds on her body.

Lu Yu saw it all, and was overwhelmed by the emotions of heartache, self-blame, and guilt. He took the initiative to walk out of the darkness, and his deep voice was like thunder in the dark night, "I'm here."

The black-clad man who was about to attack Bai Miaoke was indeed attracted and immediately walked towards the real target of tonight. The number of people she needed to deal with was immediately reduced by half. With enough time to catch her breath, she shouted loudly: "You are crazy!"

These men in black tonight are by no means good people, and those who shoot arrows from the back on the shore are also very insidious. The unprecedented scale of this assassination is obviously aimed at Lu Yu's life. If he is approached by those men in black, he will surely die.

Bai Miaoke didn't care about the man in black who was still fighting with her. She kicked down a man in black who was running towards Lu Yu, and used her light Kung Fu to gain leverage to fly towards Lu Yu quickly. She raised her sword to block the oncoming fatal blow for him. She probably used all her strength in this blow. Bai Miaoke felt her palm trembling and the sword in her hand almost slipped out of her hand.

After missing the first attack, several men in black followed closely behind him and attacked one after another, each of which was fatal. Bai Miaoke was stabbed in the shoulder without noticing it and cried out in pain. Lu Yu became more anxious and stretched out his hand to hold the man in his arms, but was pushed away by Bai Miaoke.

With a splash, he fell into the lake.

Bai Miaoke covered the wound on her shoulder and pretended to be injured and defeated. She quietly took out a bottle of medicine powder and sprinkled it out to divert the black-clad man's attention, and she took the opportunity to jump into the water.

As soon as she fell into the water, a pair of warm hands reached out to her. Bai Miaoke was startled, and just as she was about to take action, she saw Lu Yu's anxious face.

"Hold on to me." Lu Yu held her waist and dived into the water, disappearing on the lake in a blink of an eye.

Bai Miaoke felt the man's strong arms pushing her to swim in a certain direction. She was not bad at swimming, but the injuries on her shoulders made it difficult for her to support herself. So she simply relaxed and felt the tight outline of the body behind her.

One of them couldn't help it, and stretched out his uninjured hand and secretly placed it on Lu Yu's waist. He touched it through the wet cloth, and then left it there contentedly without moving.

It’s not that Lu Yu didn’t notice the movements of the person in his arms, but he really didn’t expect that she could still be so lustful and touch him all the time when she was about to die. He was speechless for a moment and simply ignored her movements.

After the two men swam for a distance, the men in black behind them gradually approached, and there were continuous sounds of breaking water. It was the people on the shore who discovered the two people in the water, and they shot several arrows at once.

Hearing the sound so close, Bai Miaoke instantly put away her lustful thoughts, took out the darts she had bought earlier and shot down a few flying arrows. Lu Yu also cooperated and took her to turn a corner and swim away from the shore, out of the range of the hidden arrows.

But the man in black behind them was still chasing them relentlessly. Lu Yu was swimming alone so his speed was slower. Seeing that the two were about to be caught up, Bai Miaoke turned to look at Lu Yu, wondering why he hadn't left her behind.

With his speed, he would have a chance to escape if he had left her behind, so why didn't he?

Before Bai Miaoke could think of an answer, she saw the man in black behind her approaching and stabbing her with a sharp blade right at her chest.

Bai Miaoke threw the broken whip and the sword she picked up on the boat. She could only use her arms to block, but before she could move, she felt a force pushing her away.

It was Lu Yu who stood in front of her. The sharp blade penetrated into the flesh on his chest, but he held it tightly with his hand.

Bai Miaoke's heart skipped a beat. She didn't care about the wound on her arm and directly raised her hand to strangle the man's neck. The man in black soon died, and as Bai Miaoke let go, the body slowly sank into the water.

The water surface returned to calm, and Bai Miaoke saw traces of blood escaping from between Lu Yu's fingers as he covered his chest, and then dissipated into the water.

"Hold on." Bai Miaoke, who had not taken the danger seriously, now looked very different and warned Lu Yu with a pale face.

"Nothing." Seeing her anxious expression, Lu Yu forced a comforting smile, but still held her tightly with his arms, fearing that there would be danger in the next second.

The two of them continued to swim forward, leaning against each other, with no idea of the direction or the destination.
