The sun finally came out this afternoon.
Wu Er, who had been hiding in the house and studying under a quilt, was really bored.
He looked at the good weather outside, took the book, opened the door, and went to the small courtyard at the back.
After the snow, the sky cleared and the ice and snow melted.
Although the weather was still very cold, the scenery and the fresh air made Wu Er feel refreshed.
He couldn't help but recite the poem: "When I opened the door in the morning, the mountain was covered with snow. The snow had cleared and the clouds were light, and the sun was cold. The water from the eaves had not yet dripped the frost on the plum blossoms, a kind of pure loneliness" (Note 1).
Wu Er stopped walking, his throat got stuck, and the three words "not ordinary" disappeared on the tip of his tongue.
He bowed quickly: "Brother."
In the sunniest spot in the courtyard, Wu Weian, who was wearing so many clothes that he had no idea how many they were stuffing into himself, was sitting on a chair basking in the sun.
Surrounded by the warm sun, with my eyes slightly closed, I feel so comfortable.
Hearing this, he hummed and said nothing more.
On the left, the lady in the kitchen was chopping wood with an axe, glaring at the man basking in the sun as she chopped. The sound of the axe continued one after another, and she chopped the wood as easily as cutting tofu.
When chopping wood, wood chips often fly everywhere. A ghost figure shuttles through it and sweeps away the debris.
Wu Er: “…”
Just, I'm used to it.
Wu Er sniffed, wiped his uncontrollable snot with a handkerchief, pretended to read a few pages of a book, and then left quietly.
Before he could turn two pages, the round-faced butler appeared in the courtyard: "Sir, the third daughter of the Ji family is on her way to the mansion and will be here soon."
As soon as he finished speaking, he disappeared.
Wu Weian opened his eyes and stood up.
Because he was wearing too many clothes, he seemed to have difficulty walking. Like a slender penguin, he dragged his chair slowly back to his room.
On her hand, the crescent-shaped scar between her ring finger and little finger had disappeared without a trace, as if it had never existed.
When he moved, the others moved too.
When Ji Yunxi followed Wu Er into the backyard, she only saw a young servant with acne next to her. He was wearing a gray cloth and sweeping the snow with dull eyes.
-
In Wu Weian's simple and unpretentious room.
Ji Yunxi was wearing a cloak and holding a stove, and she took in the layout of the room in just a few glances.
Wu Er followed at the side, feeling rather powerless. "Miss San, could we talk somewhere else? This is my brother's bedroom, and I'm afraid if you stay too long it will damage your reputation."
"It doesn't matter. I never care about these things." Ji Yunxi retracted her gaze, glanced at the man who was cowering in the corner, and said to Wu Er, "There are some things I just want to say to your brother. Please go out."
Wu Er: "I'm afraid this is inappropriate..."
Wanxiang and Baofu caused a lot of trouble when they came in.
They first put soft and comfortable cushions on the hard wooden chairs, and then carefully wiped the table top that seemed old and gray but could not be cleaned no matter how hard they tried. So they simply covered it with a tablecloth with exotic colors sent from the Western Regions.
Then, he took out the warm scented tea from the things he brought with him and poured two cups carefully.
He also took out several stacks of delicate and soft pastries.
After doing all this, Wanxiang walked over, seemingly politely, but without saying anything, she grabbed Wu Er, and left the room with Baofu, closing the door.
Only Ji Yunxi and Wu Weian were left in the room.
The man huddled in the corner laughed, "The third lady is so angry."
Ji Yunxi sat steadily at the table, and the luxury she wore made the room look more expensive.
She glanced at him and said bluntly: "You are indeed shabby."
Wu Wei'an sat down opposite her and sighed, "Life is tough, and making money is not easy."
Ji Yunxi raised an eyebrow, picked up the fine glass cup, took a sip, and asked leisurely, "Really? I think the money is easy to make."
Wu Weian: “…”
Without sunlight in the house, it started to get cold again. No matter how many clothes I put on, it was useless.
He subconsciously rubbed his frozen fingertips.
Ji Yunxi glanced at him and found that the scar on his hand had disappeared. She was stunned for a moment, then she figured it out and smiled slightly, "Young Master is indeed cautious in his actions."
Wu Wei'an has always been easygoing. He picked up the tea and drank it all in one gulp: "I'm also scared. If a few more third girls show up, I'm afraid it will be difficult to cope."
Ji Yunxi watched him go get the cakes again, and without responding, she began to act in a Versailles manner: "To be honest, I don't have anything except money. But what does it matter if I have a lot of money? It doesn't seem to mean much. Master Wu, what do you think?"
Wu Weian, who was eating snacks and drinking tea, suddenly felt that the food was tasteless. For the first time, he felt the malice of rich people.
He put down his teacup and said earnestly, "Third Miss, you know my family is poor. Since you have a lot of money, why don't you lend me some? I will definitely return it in the future."
Ji Yunxi stroked the lines on the stove in her hand and refused mercilessly: "I never lend money to others."
Wu Wei'an's expression faded a little: "That's a pity."
Ji Yunxi looked at his slightly red fingertips and smiled: "But I like giving money."
Wu Wei'an: “?”
Ji Yunxi leaned sideways and took out a heater and a stack of banknotes from the basket at the foot of the table.
The heater and banknotes were placed on the table, and she pushed them over with a gentle push.
"I see your hands are cold." She stared at him without blinking, "So you'd better keep this heater safe. If you lose it again, it will be gone."
"Miss, your timely help will be remembered by me." Wu Weian's plain face was full of sincerity. He reached out, and his fingertips touched the warm and exquisite stove and the cold but hot banknotes. His heart suddenly warmed up. "Miss, if you need anything in the future, you can come to me. I will help you in any way I can."
Ji Yunxi suddenly pressed down hard on the heater and the banknotes.
Wu Weian raised his eyebrows.
Don’t let go of one, don’t loosen the other.
The situation was at a stalemate for a while.
