Chapter 23: Childhood Influence
Even though Sister Ling insisted on being discharged from the hospital every day, Feng Jian would never let her leave without her wounds healed, no matter how hard he tried.
"You girl, instead of going home to take good care of yourself, you insist on spending money on hospitalization. Do you think the money comes from the wind?"
"People make money to spend it and make their lives more comfortable, right? Otherwise, why not just turn it into a money-printing machine?" Feng Jian handed over the peeled apple, "Do you want to eat it?"
Ling Jie temporarily stopped fighting, took the apple and took a bite, but she still didn't forget to criticize her, "I'm old and can't argue with you cultured people, but anyway, spending money without restraint is wrong."
"Okay, okay, you're absolutely right..."
"When is your friend coming?" Sister Ling suddenly told her that a friend was coming to visit her.
"They said they're on the way," Fengjian unfolded his phone, "about five minutes..."
Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by a commotion coming from the corridor outside the door.
She opened the door and looked out, almost bumping into the oncoming boy. The boy with jet-black curly hair staggered out of the ward opposite, but was actually driven out by the people inside.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry…”
He had his back to her, but all he got in response was a word like "hooligan" and the ward door slammed shut.
"Hmmmm... Which room is Mr. Yukimura-san in?"
As he passed by her, she heard him mutter
A few minutes later.
"Thank you, Kazama-san, for showing me the way," the kelp-haired boy scratched the back of his head, muttering to himself, "I just passed by an arcade and couldn't resist, so I went in to play a game. I didn't expect to miss the appointment with my seniors..." He paused, almost ruffling his hair into a mess, "That's too bad, I'm sure I'll be scolded to death later..."
"You're welcome. I happen to have something to bring with me," Kazama said, glancing at the tennis bag on his back. "By the way, Kirihara-kun, you're a member of the Rikkai University tennis club."
"Of course I am the ace player of Rikkai University. The position of Rikkai University president will definitely be mine in the future."
"Ha..." Fengjian smiled without saying anything.
When he thought that the future president of Rikkai University was a person with poor direction, Kazama began to worry about the future of the tennis club for Yukimura.
"Here we are, this is it, 306."
Just as Fengjian put his hand on the door handle, the door was opened from the inside and the serious face of a boy in a hat appeared in front of him.
Their eyes met, and both people inside and outside the door were stunned.
At this moment, only one thought flashed through Kazama's mind: if time could go back, she would definitely not call Kirihara.
"Who is coming?"
"Isn't this the second-year ace player Akaya, Puri~"
"Liu, you guessed right. This guy must have lost his way."
“It’s really too lax!”
Kirihara, who was hiding behind Kazama, shuddered, and despite everyone's gloating gazes, he obediently walked up to Sanada and lowered his head.
"Vice-Minister Sanada..."
Sanada's face remained stern, his expression unchanged. His voice was as low and crisp as a tennis ball dropping to the ground. "Kirihara, run back to school right now and do an extra 100 laps of drill."
Kirihara ran away wailing: "You must be kidding——"
While everyone's attention was focused on Kirihara, Kazama crouched down and prepared to slip away.
"Hey, Kazama, why are you here?"
"Wind...Between"
The two voices fell almost at the same time.
Kazama stiffened her neck and turned back. Yukimura was leaning against the door, his blue coat draped over his shoulders, his fingertips curling the hem. A smile spread to the corners of his eyes, and he suddenly winked at her—a small gesture he only made when he was a kid. Sanada, standing next to him, frowned and looked at her with a questioning look.
“Actually, I’m just a road…”
Before he could finish the word "passing by", Yukimura added, "How is Aunt Reiko?"
Feng Jian's forehead twitched slightly. He was certain that he had said that on purpose. He forced himself to laugh and said, "Thank you for your concern. I'm awake now. Well, in that case, I won't bother you anymore... That's it, goodbye..."
She was about to turn around when Sanada's steady voice interrupted her, "Please wait a moment."
"You are... Kazama." Sanada stared at her, surprise and doubt flashed in his eyes, and finally turned into astonishment. He was recognized at a glance.
"That's right, Genichirō, that's Kazama who played Snow White with us when we were little." Yukimura echoed, with an expression of someone who was enjoying watching the fun.
"No way, she's actually acting as Snow White with Sanada and the captain." The boy with short bright red hair looked at her in surprise, and the bubble on his lips popped.
"The three of them grew up together. Could this be the legendary childhood friendship?"
A strange look moved between the three of them, looking at his two ministers, and then at the girl opposite who had a stiff smile and a face that looked like she wanted to cry but had no tears.
"Hi...Sanada, long time no see." Kazama waved his paw, suddenly remembering the scene when Sanada took the blame for him when he was a child. He glanced up, afraid that the other party would come to settle the score with him.
Sanada crossed his arms over his chest, a straight face, "You're so lax that you tried to sneak away when you ran into an old classmate!"
Fengjian curled his lips, knowing you would say that.
Yukimura caught a glimpse of a blue shirt passing by on the street, and raised his eyebrows slightly, "Looks like something exciting is about to happen."
Just as he finished speaking, another clear voice interrupted, "Kazama, so you are here!"
She turned and saw sky-blue team uniforms at the end of the corridor. As soon as she met Momoshiro's gaze, he quickly approached, followed by a large group of Seigaku students. The Rikkai public, who had been lazily standing in front of her, suddenly stood upright, and a tense atmosphere spread silently.
"Hello, you are from Rikkai University. You are not the ones who take advantage of your numbers to bully our Seigaku tennis team." Momoshiro stepped forward, and his tall figure blocked Kazama completely.
Not only Taocheng, everyone else looked like they were united in their hatred of the enemy.
As his eyes passed over Echizen, Kazama suddenly remembered what Chiba had said, "After Echizen's match with Sanada, his racket was practically broken. He was in a slump for several days."
"Hey," Echizen raised his hand and pushed his hat back. His olive green cat eyes swept over Sanada, and the tennis ball on the racket bounced. "Would you like to play another game with me?"
Sanada's eyes were calm to the point of being terrifying. "You are no match for me right now. No matter how many times we fight, the result will be the same."
"Well, this couldn't be the powerful freshman that Seigaku is rumored to be."
Yukimura smiled and said, "I heard that Seigaku has been fostering 'inter-school friendships' lately, but I wonder if their skills have improved at the same rate."
"Don't be so arrogant, you guy."
"If you're worried about losing face in the official match, you might as well play a match with us beforehand."
"Wait a moment--"
Seeing that the battle was about to get out of control, Kazama swooped in between the two sides, grabbed the thermal box and stuffed it into Yukimura's hand, "Yukimura, this is what Sister Ling asked me to bring you. We'll talk next time, Sanada."
As he turned around, Kazama pulled Momoshiro and Echizen behind him, and pushed everyone from Seigaku away from the scene, leaving everyone from Rikkai standing there, still confused.
"Next time we meet, I will definitely defeat you all!"
"If you don't leave Echizen, your hat will be crushed by the momentum of Rikkai University!"
"Kazama-senpai, you're going too far..."
Gan and Liu, who were mixed in the crowd, muttered to themselves, "We can collect some good data again."
Gan: "The probability of Kazama falling in love with someone else is 85.52%."
Yanagi: "The probability that Seiichi and Sanada will play the prince and princess in Snow White is 95.6%."
