Chapter 29 Agreement

Chapter 29 Agreement

The match between Seigaku and Kaida University arrived as scheduled. It was a sunny day and the finals were crowded with people. There was a long queue of people waiting at the entrance to apply for entry permits.

"Little one, you're finally here," the sharp-eyed Kikumaru was the first to spot Echizen's figure. He ran over and hugged his neck, noticing his empty back. "Didn't Momoshiro and the others come with you?"

"Is that Senior Tao?" Echizen looked up. "He just happened to miss the bus."

"Based on the 40-minute train frequency, they should be on their way now," Gan stared at the notes in his hand. "Daishi, have you contacted them yet?"

"No, Momoshiro and Kaidou didn't answer the phone." Oishi looked at the match schedule on his hand, then at his watch, the worry in his eyes almost condensed into substance. "There's less than half an hour left before the game. If they can't arrive in time, we can only consider the substitute player to start the second doubles match."

"I'll go find them. There's a quick way to get to the venue." Kazama closed his notebook and looked at Yuan. "Chiba."

"Give."

Almost at the moment she finished speaking, Yuan had already stuffed the key into her hand. The cool texture came through her palm. Fengjian was stunned for a few seconds, raised her head and met Yuan's gaze. She patted her shoulder and said with a smile: "Go."

In the distance, boys in khaki team uniforms were standing or sitting at the entrance of a coffee shop. A boy with black curly hair rested one hand on his bent knee, staring at the group of people from Qingxue with clear, dark eyes. "Are you going to give up?"

"The second doubles players, Kaido and Momoshiro, haven't arrived yet. There's a high probability that the substitutes will go first." Liu held the notebook with a calm expression.

Sanada leaned against a tree with his arms folded across his chest, not saying a word. His gaze paused for a few seconds at the figure that hurriedly left the venue before retracting.

With only fifteen minutes left in the game, Kaido and Momoshiro were still out of contact.

"Kawamura, Arai, you will be the second doubles team later," Oishi said with a serious expression, "if they don't arrive in time."

"Me, me..." Arai was startled when his name was suddenly called, and swallowed subconsciously.

Kawamura clenched his hands, remained silent for a few seconds, and then stood up. "I'm going to go find them. I won't give up until I find them!"

After saying that, he ran out of the venue under the gaze of everyone.

Almost a minute after Kawamura left, Minamoto's surprised voice pierced the heavy atmosphere, "Kazama said she's found Momoshiro and Kaidou. She's already called Kawamura-senpai to tell him the route, and they'll be there soon!"

"call--"

The sound of the wind whistled by, like a sigh of relief.

"Now it depends on whether they can make it." He stared at his watch.

The other side.

"Kazama-san, shall we take you to the hospital first?" Taocheng scratched his head, beads of sweat the size of beans rolling down his forehead, dripping onto the ground and instantly evaporated by the heat rising from the ground.

"You go first," Fengjian shook her head. She spread the key in her palm in his hand. "I told Senior Aaron that you will take that road. He is on his way to pick you up. You should ride faster."

"But your foot..." Taocheng lowered his head and looked at her red and swollen ankle, his eyes hesitant to speak, "We can't leave you alone."

"Hiss." Haitang nodded silently.

"Listen Momoshiro, Kaidou, this has nothing to do with whether I'm left behind or not. I can definitely do it on my own," Kazama said, holding their shoulders. "But you have more important things to do. This is the agreement we made with President Tezuka, right?"

"I......"

Taocheng slowly clenched his hands hanging at his sides.

"No problem," Kazama said as he clashed his fists with them, the sound as crisp as the sound of a tennis ball hitting the ground, his smile as bright as the summer sun, "Go quickly, everyone is waiting for you."

"And... remember not to mention my injury to them," she raised her hand and made a shushing gesture, "this is also the agreement between you and me."

"Okay!" Taocheng clenched the tennis ball in his hand, "This is our agreement!"

"Kazama, we will definitely bring back victory!"

"I'm waiting--" Fengjian made a trumpet shape with his hands and shouted at them until the sky-blue team uniform disappeared at the end of the road and completely disappeared.

The strong sun in Tokyo almost melted people. She looked down at her left ankle which was almost swollen like an egg. The slightest movement caused her to feel piercing pain. She had no choice but to sit on the bench and sighed.

The cell phone had temporarily lost signal because he had just fallen down the stairs. Feng Jian was so bored that he had to lower his head and count the ants in the cracks of the stone slabs.

When the count reached fifteen, a short sound cut through the hot summer air.

"Huh?"

A dark shadow was cast at the feet, and white canvas shoes came into view. He followed the other person's ankles, which were tightly wrapped in black sweatpants, all the way up. Guan Yuechu twirled his fingertips around the inky hair, looking at her half-assessingly.

Fengjian felt that he was unlucky today. First, he sprained his ankle while riding a bike, and then he met someone he disliked.

"Aren't you Seigaku's recorder? The match between Seigaku and Rikkai University has already started, why are you still here?"

"I'm just taking a break after walking here," Kazama turned his face away, "My teammates won't lose even if I'm there."

"Really?" Guan Yuechu supported himself on his elbow with one hand, a smile on his lips, "It seems that you don't know anything about the competition."

Feng Jian frowned, "What do you mean?"

"You guys at Seigaku lost both doubles matches, and even the third singles match is in jeopardy—"

Both doubles matches were lost.

The third singles...is also in jeopardy.

The speeding traffic tore the last words into pieces. The deafening chirping of summer cicadas sounded like fireworks exploding in the ears, leaving only a short, low buzzing sound.

Fengjian subconsciously wanted to stand up, but the sharp pain from her ankle made her fall to the ground. Her knee was probably scraped and the pain of gravel was like a bug drilling into her skin. The hot air almost drowned her.

The cicadas were still chirping, and the sun had baked the ground like a red-hot iron plate. The heat climbed up her trouser legs, almost evaporating her consciousness.

She raised her leg and tried to stand up by hopping on one foot, but she found that her right foot seemed to be injured as well. She climbed onto a stool beside her, lowered her head and took a deep breath, and could only ask for help from the only living person in front of her.

"Guanyue-kun, could you please call me a taxi to the finals?"

"You..." Surprise flashed in his turquoise eyes. Guan Yuechu glanced at her ankle and said, "I suggest you go to the doctor first..."

"Trouble—"

Her words were suddenly interrupted by her. Fengjian raised her head and looked at Guanyue in front of her. The other person's emerald eyes still showed the shock from before. She pursed her cracked lips, her voice trembling slightly due to rapid breathing, but she was more determined than before: "Thank you for your help!"

Guan Yuechu looked at the girl in front of him who bowed to him and didn't say anything for a long time.
