Chapter 31 Foot Injury

Chapter 31 Foot Injury

It was a sunny midsummer day, but it was not easy for someone.

"I told you not to show off," Sister Ling said as she applied green plaster to her ankle, increasing the strength of her hands, causing the person sitting on the edge of the bed to cry out in pain.

"Sister Ling, can you be gentle..." Before she could finish her words, Sister Ling glared back at her. She raised the plaster in her hand and said, "Now you feel the pain. You're such a grown-up, but you don't know how to manage your own body." She said viciously, but her movements were gentle. "I think you didn't fall on your foot, but on your head, right?"

Fengjian didn't dare to say anything, for fear that if he said something back, Sister Ling's complaints would pour out like beans, which would be really unbearable.

"Alright," Sister Ling put away the medicine bottle and muttered before leaving, "Don't touch the hot pot crayfish and eels for the next few days. Just drink the porridge until your foot is completely healed."

"No way—"

Feng Jian's wailing was drowned out by the door.

She collapsed on the bed with the window open. The damp sea breeze made the wind chimes on the windowsill tinkle. Outside on the street, the chirping of cicadas mixed with the sounds of children playing drifted away.

After the Kanto Tournament finals, there was a two-month long summer vacation. However, on such a nice day, she could only stay at home. Not only could she not ask Chiba to go out and play together, she couldn't even eat her favorite things. It could be described as a disaster.

The summer breeze always makes people sleepy. She laughed and was about to lie down to rest when she heard a commotion downstairs. Sister Ling's voice was loud enough for her to hear clearly, "April, your friend is here to see you."

There was a knock on the door. Fengjian thought it was Yuan, after all, she said she would come to see him today. He lazily called out "Come in" and continued to lie on the bed.

The person outside the door was silent for a few seconds, and then the door slowly opened.

But when he saw two tall figures standing outside the door, Fengjian stood up quickly, and because the movement was too large, he fell directly onto the tatami beside the bed.

"Wow—" She hissed in pain as she frantically tried to support herself on the floor. She looked up, meeting the boys' gazes. Her ears tingled with pain, and the last words, "I'm going to fall to my death," got stuck in her throat.

Sanada lowered the brim of his hat and said in a strong voice, "You are really too lax!"

A few seconds later, Kazama sat upright in his seat, facing Kirihara who also stood straight. The two looked at each other and tacitly looked away. Next to him was Sanada who had a stern face and was meticulous.

"Genichirō, I guess you and April haven't seen each other for a long time," Sister Ling said with a smile as she walked in with some fruit, invisibly dispelling the strange atmosphere in the room. "I remember when you were little, you and Jingshi often came to our house to play."

"Excuse me, Aunt Reiko." Sanada placed his hands on his thighs and bowed slightly.

"Don't be so polite, just treat it as your own home. After all, April has caused you a lot of trouble in the past, right?" Sister Ling smiled and waved her hands, looking very good-tempered, and communicated with Sanada in a friendly manner.

Fengjian sat beside her, sipping his drink and watching this side silently, while secretly slandering Sister Ling for her completely different attitude towards her and others.

Qi Yuanze opened his mouth slightly because of his deputy minister's familiarity.

"Is this Genichirō's apprentice? He's so cute."

Kirihara sat up awkwardly and bowed in a hoarse voice, "Hello!"

"Hello, hello. You're really cute. Not at all like our April who always goes against me."

“…”

A mouthful of tea sprayed directly from the sky, hitting Kirihara in the face. The air was stagnant for a few seconds, and the whole street of Yokohama could hear Sister Ling's roar:

"April—that's so rude!"

At the end of the street, several young men in white short-sleeved shirts suddenly stopped. One of them scratched the back of his head and said, "I think I heard Kazama's name just now."

Yuan continued, "That's Sister Ling's voice, right?"

A moment later.

"Genichirō, you guys take your time chatting and reminiscing about the past." Sister Ling closed the door with a smile before leaving, leaving behind Kirihara, who had not yet recovered from Sister Ling's loud voice, and the other two who looked at each other in silence.

"Um..." Kazama sighed and broke the silence, "Sanada-kun, did you guys just happen to pass by here?"

"No, Vice Minister Sanada is..." Kirihara rushed to say, but was quickly interrupted, "Kirihara, go back and practice more."

Kirihara suddenly became silent and shut up with a bitter face.

"The doctor said Yukimura's surgery was successful. He needs to be observed for a while, but he'll be back on the team soon," Sanada's voice was as meticulous as he was, dull as the thud of a bat. "I was on my way to the hospital today to visit Captain Fudomine, who was injured by Kirihara earlier, and I happened to be passing by here."

Feng Jian was slightly stunned. He didn't tell anyone that he had been to the hospital. He just nodded and said, "That's good."

"How's Fuji's eyes?" asked Sanada.

"I went to see a doctor after the game, and he said I would be fine after a few days of rest."

Sanada's tense expression faltered slightly, like a loose tile. "We're sorry for injuring Fuji."

"I see."

After all, no one can predict what will happen on the field. She was at the scene at the time and naturally saw Kirihara's uncontrolled red eyes. Fortunately, no bigger accident occurred.

The atmosphere was stagnant for a moment. Feng Jian stared at the teacup in his palm in a daze. "Um, Sanada, Sister Ling is very happy to see you. Do you want to have lunch today..."

The voice was interrupted by the door being pushed open suddenly, "April, are you surprised or not? Everyone came to see you together... Oh..."

Yuan's cheerful ending came to an abrupt end when he saw the two people sitting in the house, like a concerto that suddenly ended at a concert.

Momoshiro scratched the back of his head, his eyes flicking between Sanada and Kirihara, his tone filled with a hint of youthful dissatisfaction: "Why are you here..."

Before he could finish his words, Oishi quietly tugged at the corner of his clothes, and he shut up in disappointment. However, he still couldn't help but raised his chin towards the two people from Rikkai University.

"We..." Kirihara was about to speak when he was stopped by Sanada. The boy stood up and ignored the unfriendly eyes of the Seigaku people at the door. He looked at Kazama and said, "Take good care of yourself."

Kazama grabbed his crutches and stood up, nodding at him, "I'll go to the hospital to visit Yukimura when my foot is healed."

A barely perceptible smile crossed Sanada's calm face, and he nodded slightly in response.

The two left Kazama Restaurant under the strange looks of everyone in Seigaku.

"Kazama, do you know Sanada from Rikkai University?" Momoshiro asked in wonder, looking through the window in the corridor and saw two figures walking away.

"Yeah, meow. When I was in the hospital before, I found out that Kazama seemed to know Yukimura and Sanada from Rikkai University." Kikumaru put his elbow on Oishi.

"Could it be because Kazama studied at Rikkai University before?" Oishi guessed.

"The probability that Kazama will attend Rikkai University is 86%."

"Senior Gan is right. I went to Rikkai University for elementary school, but moved when I was in junior high school and came to Seigaku." Fengjian pushed the fruit platter on the table in front of them, "Let's eat some fruit first," and shouted downstairs, "Sister Ling, we want to drink sour plum juice!" At the same time, he strongly recommended to them that the sour plum juice made by Sister Ling is the standard dish in the store in summer.

"Although," Momoshiro scratched his head, "I feel like Kazama is trying to change the subject. If you're transferring because of moving, wouldn't Rikkai University be closer?"

Yuan glimpsed Sister Ling coming over with plum juice, and quickly picked up the top cup and shoved it to Taocheng. The ice cubes clanged in the cup, "Taocheng, try this! Sister Ling's plum juice is made with basil, and it tastes ten times better than the ones in convenience stores."

She nudged Kazama with her elbow and gave him a look that said, "Don't say anything." "April must be here because of the Seigaku tennis courts, right?"

"Well, that's right."

“The fruit platter is here!”

Sister Ling's powerful voice swept away the heat in the room. The ice cubes tapped lightly on the wall of the cup, like the hum of a wooden organ. Outside the window, the summer was scorching and the sky was high and the clouds were vast.
