Xiao Yanchu is back?
Su Ruojin was somewhat incredulous, as she hadn't received any prior notice.
"Where is the Prince?"
"We'll arrive in the capital in half an hour," Huanzhi said.
Previously, it was the prince's personal guard who returned to the manor to report that the princess was not at home, so Huanzhi rushed to the general's manor.
"Xiao Jin, hurry, hurry back to the manor," Madam Su urged.
It's so good that the prince is back, with the New Year just around the corner.
If he doesn't come back soon, Nian'er might not even recognize him as her father.
Without hesitation, Su Ruojin picked up Nian'er and rushed back to the Prince's Mansion.
She had just stepped off the carriage when she heard the sound of horses' hooves behind her.
Su Ruojin turned around and saw two horses galloping towards the Prince's Mansion.
The person on horseback wore a suit of silver armor that gleamed coldly in the sunlight. His long hair flew wildly in the wind, tangled with his cloak, making him look somewhat disheveled.
The person was backlit, and Su Ruojin squinted. Although she couldn't see the person's face clearly, she knew it was Xiao Yanchu.
The other party seemed to have seen her too, and suddenly squeezed his horse's flanks, urging it to accelerate.
As the horse drew closer, Su Ruojin gradually recognized the person approaching. Then, her nose tingled, and tears streamed down her face.
Not for any other reason than that if Su Ruojin and he hadn't already been connected on a spiritual level, he might not have recognized the person in front of him at first glance.
Xiao Yanchu had a stubble beard, dark circles under his eyes, and chapped lips beneath his high nose bridge, making him look extremely haggard.
Only those eyes lit up instantly when they met Su Ruojin's gaze, filled with deep affection and longing, like the most dazzling stars in the night sky.
When Su Ruojin met those eyes, she forgot everything around her, only knowing that her Yan Chu had returned.
After many months, her Yan Chu is back!
Holding her wet nurse in her arms, Nian'er seemed to see her mother crying and reached out her chubby little hands to Su Ruojin, "Mother~~"
Su Ruojin quickly hugged Nian'er, and Nian'er raised her little hand to touch Su Ruojin's face, as if she wanted to wipe away her tears, calling out "Mother".
Su Ruojin raised her hand to wipe away the tears that had fallen, looked at Nian'er with a smile on her face, and said softly, "Nian'er, your father is back."
Nian'er seemed to understand, yet also seemed not to understand, blowing bubbles as she continued to touch Su Ruojin's face with her little hands.
The horse stopped in front of the Prince's mansion, and the man on horseback jumped down and walked quickly to Su Ruojin.
Her eyes were filled with undisguised excitement, and her voice was hoarse as she said, "Ah Jin, I'm back."
Su Ruojin's eyes reddened again. She seemed to have a thousand words to say, but for a moment she didn't know what to say. In the end, she uttered just one word, "Okay."
Nian'er, nestled in Su Ruojin's arms, stirred, her big eyes wide with curiosity as she looked at the man before her.
Su Ruojin then realized what was happening and smiled at Nian'er, saying, "Nian'er, this is your father. Quickly call him father."
In theory, the child should call him "Father," but for a small baby, practicing single syllables is easier than calling out two syllables.
Just like Su Ruojin taught Nian'er to call her "mother" instead of "concubine".
Xiao Yanchu looked at his daughter, who had grown up a lot, and his eyes were a little red.
He reached out to hug his daughter, but Nian'er seemed a little scared and snuggled back into Su Ruojin's arms.
Xiao Yanchu's outstretched hand missed its mark.
Su Ruojin comforted him, "The child doesn't know you yet, but he'll get used to you. Let's go back to the manor first."
When he left the palace, Nian'er was less than three months old and knew nothing.
To Nian'er now, Xiao Yanchu is no different from a complete stranger.
"Okay." Xiao Yanchu wanted to put his arm around Su Ruojin and go into the mansion together, but when he saw his armor covered in dust, he reluctantly withdrew his hand. He didn't want to dirty Ajin's dress.
Su Ruojin saw Xiao Yanchu's little action, a faint smile appeared on her lips, she held Nian'er in one arm and reached out to hold Xiao Yanchu's hand with the other.
Xiao Yanchu was taken aback for a moment, then smiled, held Ah Jin's hand tightly, and walked into the mansion together.
