Su Ruojin looked up and saw that Xiao Yanchu had moved.
A light flashed in her eyes, and she rushed over to pick up Xiao Yanchu: "Xiao Yanchu, you're awake?"
Xiao Yanchu slowly opened his eyes: "Ah... Jin..."
Seeing Xiao Yanchu's dry, chapped lips, Su Ruojin gently put him down, found a stone bowl in the stone chamber, filled it with some spring water, and fed it to him.
After drinking water, Xiao Yanchu regained some strength: "I...I'm not dead?"
Su Ruojin's eyes reddened, and she sniffed, her nose stinging: "You're not dead, you're not dead, it was Mao Mao who saved you!"
Xiao Yanchu turned his head and saw "Round Ball" lying to the side, and "Round Ball" was also looking at him.
Xiao Yanchu saw a smug look in its eyes. He slightly curled the corner of his mouth and softly said, "Thank you."
"Woof woof~" Mao Mao barked softly twice in response, then pulled Xiao Yanchu's clothes over its belly, closed its eyes, and continued to sleep.
Turning his head, Xiao Yanchu raised his hand and wiped away Su Ruojin's tears: "Silly girl, why are you crying? I'm fine now."
"I'm just happy. Let me help you up so I can take a look." Su Ruojin was afraid that Xiao Yanchu might still have residual venom from the human-faced snake, which could easily cause paralysis throughout his body.
With Su Ruojin's help, Xiao Yanchu sat up. As soon as he moved, the fluffy little blanket disappeared.
Mao Mao half-opened her eyes, glanced at the scene, smacked her lips in apparent dissatisfaction, turned over, and continued sleeping.
Su Ruojin found it amusing and tore another piece from her skirt to cover Mao Mao.
Fortunately, the ancients' clothes had large skirts and many layers, otherwise she wouldn't know where she would have found so much fabric to wrap and make quilts.
Xiao Yanchu could raise his hands and move his feet without any problem, but he was still a little weak and couldn't stand up.
Su Ruojin finally felt relieved.
Suddenly, a loud croaking of frogs came from outside, as if all the volcanic rock toads outside were calling out together.
It seems like something happened.
Su Ruojin helped Xiao Yanchu lean against the wall: "I'll go take a look."
Xiao Yanchu nodded: "Be careful."
Stepping out of the secret chamber, Su Ruojin saw hundreds of volcanic rock toads gathered in a circle on the stone platform, raising their heads and chirping towards the center of the platform.
From a distance, Su Ruojin couldn't see what the rock toads were doing. She carefully moved closer to the stone platform, afraid of disturbing them.
She couldn't afford to mess with hundreds of poisonous rock toads.
Fortunately, these guys seemed to be distracted by something, and none of them noticed Su Ruojin's approach.
Only when Su Ruojin got closer could she see clearly that among the hundreds of rock toads was a rock toad lying on its back, which looked dead.
Is this a funeral procession?
Then the croaking of the frogs stopped in unison, and the only sound in the cave was the churning of lava. Just by listening to the sound, you would never guess that there were hundreds of rock toads inside.
Then, four rock toads were seen carrying the dead rock toad by its four limbs and moving it toward the edge of the stone platform.
The rock toads that had been surrounding them consciously made way, clearing a path for them.
Finally, they put the dead rock toad into the lava, and the croaking of frogs rang out again.
The rock toad's call was sharper than that of a regular frog, and now it was even louder than before. Su Ruojin, who was standing close by, felt a sharp pain in her ears and quickly raised her hand to cover them.
The rock toad, thrown into the lava, bounced up and down with the lava's rolling motion, but it was not melted by the lava.
Su Ruojin's eyes suddenly lit up.
Live rock toads are hard to catch, but freshly dead ones are okay.
As she approached the lava, several rock toads looked over, seemingly unaware of any malice Su Ruojin might harbor, and ignored her.
Su Ruojin looked at the rock toad floating in the lava and knew she had to hurry and scoop it up, otherwise it would sink and there would be no way to catch it.
