Chapter 4 Dementia (1/2)

The waiter's eyes lit up when he saw the man, and he hurriedly went to greet him: "Dr. Cai, you've arrived! This way, please!"

Cai Fanzhou gave a vague "hmm" and never looked directly at the waiter.

The waiter didn't care at all. This was Doctor Cai! In Yanyang, who didn't know Doctor Cai? Being able to meet him was already a great honor.

There are rumors that Dr. Cai is the legendary Sage of Medicine, and some people have even asked him directly if he is indeed the Sage of Medicine.

Cai Fanzhou replied, "A doctor should be concerned with saving the world; why should he care about some empty fame?"

Once these words were spoken, although Cai Fanzhou did not personally admit that he was the Sage of Medicine, people praised his noble character and unwillingness to be burdened by empty fame. Instead, people believed even more that he was the Sage of Medicine.

He performed the benevolent deeds of a medical sage, saving people from suffering, yet he did not wish for others to know of it; he was truly a saint.

Dr. Cai's reputation soared, and even some high-ranking officials and nobles traveled long distances to seek his medical help.

The girl following behind Cai Fanzhou was slightly taken aback when she saw Su Ruojin standing to the side. What was she doing here?

Cai Fanzhou noticed that Lin Wanqing was acting strangely and asked, "Qing'er, what's wrong?"

Lin Wanqing snapped out of her daze, put on a polite smile, and gently shook her head: "Master, it's nothing."

"Yes, when you come in with me to see the Regent, you must behave well and not be impolite."

"Yes, Master," Lin Wanqing replied obediently, bowing her head.

Regent Xiao Yanchu, the God of War of the Great Chu Kingdom, commanded the three armies of the Great Chu Kingdom and assisted in managing state affairs at the young age of twenty-one.

Legend has it that the regent is handsome and charismatic, like a god descended to earth. He has never married and doesn't even have a concubine in his household. He only has the child of his deceased elder brother, Prince Yu, who has suffered from a strange illness since childhood. This consultation meeting is to treat this child's illness.

If I can catch the Regent's eye, what does a small prefecture matter?

Thinking of this, Lin Wanqing's eyes flickered, a slight blush rose to her face, and her heart began to beat a little fast.

Su Ruojin looked at the scene before her, scoffed, and left.

She had taken the initiative to treat the young prince, so why bother making a fool of herself when others didn't welcome her?

Su Ruojin treats patients based on her mood. She doesn't charge the poor a penny, but she won't treat powerful and wealthy families she doesn't like, even if they offer her a fortune.

Having rushed over early in the morning without eating anything, Su Ruojin was now feeling a bit hungry and went into the Moon Gazing Tower.

Many people went to Juxianlou to watch the excitement today, making Wangyuelou seem rather deserted.

The waiter saw a customer enter and hurried over to greet her: "Oh, miss, are you alone? Would you like to sit in the main hall or a private room?"

"One person, a private room, just a roast duck and a bowl of chicken porridge." I'm alone, so I can't eat too much.

"Young lady, you have excellent taste! Roast duck is our restaurant's signature dish. This way, please." The waiter led Su Ruojin to the private room upstairs, calling out, "One person per room."

The dishes were served quickly, and I must say that Wangyuelou's roast duck truly lives up to its reputation as a specialty of Yanyang. The skin was roasted to a golden brown and crispy perfection, glistening with a light sheen of oil.

The roast duck was clearly fresh out of the oven, steaming hot. Tearing off a piece of duck meat, the skin separated from the meat, the outer skin was crispy and the inside was tender. Paired with Wangyuelou's secret sweet sauce, the freshness of the duck meat and the sweetness of the sauce complemented each other perfectly. It was oily but not greasy, leaving a lingering aftertaste.

Su Ruojin took a bite of duck meat, her eyes drifting intentionally or unintentionally towards the curtain in the private room.

The curtain twitched slightly, and looking at the pair of small feet beneath it, Su Ruojin smiled lightly: "If you don't come out soon, I'm going to eat all this duck meat."

After these words were spoken, the curtain remained completely still.

Su Ruojin got up, walked gently to the curtain, and pulled it open.

The person behind the curtain seemed surprised to be discovered, staring at Su Ruojin with wide, round eyes in terror.

Before me was a boy of about four years old, pale-faced, dressed in luxurious clothes, clearly of noble birth.
