"Today is an even-numbered day. Will weapons be transported out tonight?" Su Ruojin asked after calculating the date.
Liu Ertie nodded hurriedly.
“I can temporarily cure your poison, but you need to find a way to get us mixed into the convoy tonight.”
Liu Ertie hesitated at first, but the intense pain in his body made his hesitation only last for a moment, and he quickly nodded like a pestle.
It hurt too much; he didn't want to endure the pain anymore.
Su Ruojin fed Liu Ertie a pill, and he instantly felt the pain in his body disappear and was able to speak again.
"Thank you very much."
"We'll come back tonight. Of course, you can also try to complain to us." After saying that, Su Ruojin turned and left.
"No, no," Liu Ertie said repeatedly. He was still poisoned and dared not do it to save his life.
As soon as Su Ruojin left, Liu Ertie quickly stood up, his face no longer showing any trace of the fear he had shown before.
He stared grimly in the direction where Su Ruojin and the others had disappeared, spat to the side, and then quickly left the blacksmith shop.
Liu Ertie arrived at a small courtyard and knocked rhythmically on the door.
After the door opened, Liu Ertie went straight into a room where a man was standing with his back to the door.
Liu Ertie knelt on one knee and bowed, "Sir, Zhao Ruojin and her men have found the blacksmith shop. They plan to have me take them tonight to hand over the weapons. They want to infiltrate the weapons transport team. She even poisoned me."
The man turned his head; he was bald, and his face was covered with countless scars—the kind of face that would frighten a child to tears.
"That good-for-nothing Tong Mingshan is utterly hopeless. Let our men prepare to kill them all tonight! Eat this, and the poison will be gone."
"Yes!" Liu Ertie stepped forward, took the pill from the man's hand, and swallowed it without saying a word.
After Liu Ertie left, the man released two carrier pigeons.
As night fell, Su Ruojin and Liu Jing arrived at the blacksmith shop on time. Liu Ertie saw the two of them and quietly came up to them, asking in a low voice, "Isn't there someone else?"
"He's not coming."
Liu Ertie didn't say anything more and led the two to the blacksmith's shop. "Wait here for a while, the car will be here soon."
Soon the truck arrived, and Liu Ertie directed his men to load the wooden crates onto the truck. These crates were already nailed in place; they varied in size and length, presumably containing various types of weapons.
Su Ruojin and Liu Jing are now workers in the store, so naturally they also have to help carry these boxes.
The number of boxes wasn't large, just ten carriages, and they were quickly filled.
Judge Huang stood by and watched from the beginning, while Su Ruojin and Liu Jing kept their heads down and hid behind others.
After the cart was loaded, another steward walked up to Magistrate Huang and handed him a booklet. Magistrate Huang glanced at it, took the pen, signed it, and then waved his hand, "Let's go."
The car slowly started moving and headed out of the city.
With Magistrate Huang escorting them, they naturally encountered no obstacles along the way.
The convoy gradually entered a grove of trees, and apart from the sound of horses' hooves and the occasional urging from the supervisors, no one spoke.
Huang Tongpan, who was riding ahead on horseback, suddenly pulled on the reins, and the horse stopped.
He slowly turned his head and stared straight at Su Ruojin and the other person, a sinister smile creeping onto his lips.
"Miss Zhao, let's stop here."
