Chapter 324 Even Better Than He Expected (Bonus Chapter) (1/2)

After Su Ruojin left, Xing Yue was a little bored staying alone in the Su residence, so Madam Su asked Su Yiting to take her around the capital of the Great Chu.

Su Muyao left the mansion with Hongxiao and arrived at Lingluo Pavilion, the largest fabric shop in the capital.

Today is the second day of the Lunar New Year. Ordinary fabric shops are already closed for the holidays, but Lingluoge is open all year round except for two days off on Lunar New Year's Eve and Lunar New Year's Day.

As soon as Su Muyao entered, a waiter immediately came to greet her.

"Miss, are you choosing fabric? Are you picking it out for yourself or for the lady of the house? We just received a new batch of goods that would be perfect for you and the lady of the house. Would you like to take a look?"

Su Muyao originally wanted to buy some fabric to make clothes for her mother and two older sisters, so when she heard the waiter's introduction, she was willing to go and take a look.

The waiter led Su Muyao to a room inside.

This room is smaller than the one in front, and the fabrics on it are obviously much more expensive.

There were Shu brocade, brocade satin, jacquard silk, brocade satin, and many other kinds of fabrics, and there were many guests choosing them in the room.

As soon as Su Muyao entered the room, a young maidservant came forward to accompany her in selecting silks and explain the advantages of each type.

Su Muyao saw a piece of fabric, white with gold threads woven into the shape of silk and bamboo, elegant yet noble, just right for her sister.

Just as Su Muyao got her hands on the fabric and was about to examine it closely, a hand reached out from the side and snatched the fabric away.

"Waiter, I'll take this piece of cloth."

Su Muyao turned her head and saw a girl about her age, dressed in gorgeous clothes, clearly not a young lady from an ordinary family, holding the piece of brocade she had her eye on.

Hongxiao didn't care who the other person was. Her young mistress had clearly taken a liking to the cloth first and even had it in her hands, yet someone else had snatched it away. She said directly, "What's wrong with you? My young mistress clearly took a liking to this cloth first. Why are you trying to take it?"

The maid raised her head and said, "What do you mean your young lady took a liking to it first? Whoever gets it gets it."

Hongxiao wanted to argue, but Su Muyao stopped her, saying, "Forget it, just give it to her and ask the shopkeeper to bring another one."

Generally speaking, stores will keep a few extra bolts of the same type of fabric in stock.

Su Muyao said to the maid who was helping them pick out goods, "Give me another piece of this brocade."

The maid looked troubled. "Miss, we only have this one bolt of fabric in our shop right now. The rest are in the warehouse."

Is the warehouse far away?

"It's not far, it's right next door."

"Then go and get me one, I'll wait in the shop."

Su Muyao wasn't in a hurry to wait a little longer.

The maidservant hurriedly explained, "Miss, I'm so sorry, but there are just too many people in the shop today. We don't have enough staff, so we really can't spare anyone to go and get the goods."

"If you're not in a hurry, Miss, you can come back tomorrow, or we can deliver it to your residence after we're done with our work these next few days. If you're really in a rush, you can go directly to the warehouse to pick it up; that would be faster. This brocade sells quickly, and I'm afraid we'll run out of stock soon."

When Su Muyao came in, she did see that there were many customers in the store, which is common during the Chinese New Year.

"Never mind, I'll go get it." Su Muyao thought for a moment, but it wouldn't matter if she walked a little further.

"Okay, this way please, miss."

Su Muyao followed the maid to pay the bill, not noticing the girl who had snatched her fabric earlier, a triumphant smile flashing in her eyes.

After paying and receiving the receipt from the shop, Su Muyao led Hongxiao toward the storeroom.

As the two were passing through a small alley, they encountered three drunk men carrying wine jars.

Hongxiao shielded her young mistress and moved aside to make way for the drunkard.

Unexpectedly, the drunkard stopped as he passed the two men, his face flushed, his drunken eyes narrowed as he looked at them with a malicious smile.

"Hey, little girl, where are you headed during the New Year? Why don't you come with me? I'll make sure you have a great time."

After he finished speaking, one of the drunkards reached out to Su Muyao, but Hongxiao slapped his hand away.
