Chapter 514 Ma Family Village (2/2)

Upon arriving at Majia Village, Su Ruojin came to the western corner of the village, where there was a house that looked like it had been uninhabited for a long time. The door was dilapidated and the house was surrounded by weeds.

Just as Su Ruojin was about to push open the door and go in to take a look, she was stopped by an old man carrying firewood who was passing by.

"Young lady, don't go in. This place is very eerie. A family of four died here before."

Su Ruojin stopped and looked at the old man. "Grandpa, what's so strange about it?"

"Sigh, a family used to live in this house, but all four of them died, and the house was left empty. Nobody dared to live there. A few homeless people came and stayed overnight, but they all died the next day. When they died, their eyes were wide open, as if they had been frightened."

Since then, villagers have often heard a woman crying coming from inside the house. Everyone says there's something unclean in the house, and no one goes near it. You must never go in. The old man's face was filled with fear as he spoke to Su Ruojin from a distance, not daring to approach the house.

"Grandpa, are these people native to Majia Village?"

"No, they probably moved here about five years ago. They said their hometown was hit by a disaster and they fled here. They chose this piece of land to build a house, but they never expected that their family would suffer such a misfortune. It's really a tragedy. Young lady, listen to my advice, don't go into this house."

The old man meant well, and Su Ruojin obediently took a few steps back, saying, "Thank you, sir, I won't go in."

Seeing that the little girl was quite obedient, the old man picked up his firewood and left with satisfaction.

After the old man left, Su Ruojin didn't actually go inside. Instead, she went around to the side of the house and saw a bare tree stump, indicating that the tree had obviously been cut down.

Su Ruojin squatted down and carefully examined the tree stump. The tree wasn't very thick, but it was about the size of an adult man's palm when put together, so it wasn't very old.

Yanluo had no idea what her mistress was looking at.

"Miss, is there anything strange about this tree?"

"It's nothing, I was just looking." Su Ruojin didn't say anything.

Yanluo found it strange that her young mistress would come all this way to see a tree stump that was clearly dead.

After examining the tree stump, Su Ruojin returned to the dilapidated house, gently pushed open the door, and was about to go in when Yanluo called out to her.

"Miss, that old man just said this room is unclean. Should we go in?" Yanluo looked a little scared. The old man had just said that several people had died in this room.

"If you're scared, just wait for me outside." Su Ruojin walked straight inside.

Yanluo looked around, gritted her teeth, and followed him inside.

The house had obviously been abandoned for a long time. Various weeds had grown in the yard, and some old tables, chairs and benches had been damaged by wind and rain and were lying crookedly in the yard.

There is also an abandoned well in the yard.

Su Ruojin walked to the well, lifted the cover, and looked into the well.

There was still water in the well, and some withered leaves were floating on top, so it seemed that no one had touched it for a long time.

Su Ruojin pushed open the door to the inner room, and a cloud of dust rushed in. She quickly took out a handkerchief to cover her mouth and nose.

Yanlu coughed as she was choked by the ash, covered her nose, and waved her hands to clear away the dust coming at her. "Miss, this house must have been abandoned for a long time."

"Hmm." Su Ruojin looked around and touched the thick layer of dust on the table in the room.

There were some old and tattered quilts on the floor inside the house, which were probably left behind by the homeless man the old man had mentioned earlier.

"Meow—!!" Suddenly a stray cat darted out with a loud meow, startling Yan Luo, who quickly moved closer to Su Ruojin.

"Miss, I feel a chill in this room." The thought of someone dying in the room made Yanlu feel uneasy.

Su Ruojin walked around the house, then went to the other two rooms to take a closer look. She returned to the courtyard, looked back at the whole house, and seemed to be deep in thought.

After watching for a while, she said, "Yanluo, let's go."

Hearing that her mistress was leaving, Yanluo breathed a sigh of relief.

She followed her young mistress around for a while, not knowing what her mistress wanted to see, and couldn't help but ask, "Miss, what are you looking for?"

Yanluo really couldn't understand what the young lady could see in this dilapidated house in Majia Village where someone had died.
