Tianning Temple is located at the foot of the mountain, and at night you can hear the sounds of night birds coming from the mountains.
Early winter has arrived, and the moon in the sky has become much brighter.
Using the moonlight, the three of them evaded the Taoist priests patrolling the temple and quietly approached the houses.
As the three of them got closer to the house, they all frowned.
They easily arrived here during the day when no one was guarding it, so why did it become "lively" at night?
About ten Taoist priests, carrying torches, patrolled around the house.
It's just a few dilapidated houses, yet so many people are guarding it. No one would believe there's nothing strange about this place.
"Jin-meimei, could Yingzi be here?" Zhao Jingning asked softly.
During the day, they searched the entire Taoist temple, and everything else seemed normal; there were no clues related to the child.
This is now the only possibility.
Su Ruojin stared at the patrolling men. "I don't know. We need to find a way to get in and take a look."
"With so many people, how are we supposed to get in?"
Zhao Jingning mentally calculated that with ten Taoist priests taking turns patrolling, there was no gap in between. How was she supposed to get in?
Su Ruojin led the two of them back silently.
"Jin-mei, are we not going?" Zhao Jingning asked.
"Let's go somewhere else." Su Ruojin went around to a place a little further away from the house and picked up some stones and branches.
Amidst the puzzled looks of Zhao Jingning and Yan Luo, Su Ruojin arranged the stones and branches in a certain pattern and sprinkled medicinal powder in some places.
Su Ruojin didn't have time to explain anything to the two of them. She instructed Yanluo, "Yanluo, you stay here and hide well. After my cousin and I get over there, make some noise to attract people over."
"good."
Su Ruojin and Zhao Jingning returned to the vicinity of the house, and soon after, they heard a woman scream.
"Who goes there!"
"Quick, let's go check it out!"
"Don't just stand there, go and see what's going on. If anything happens, you'll be in big trouble."
"yes!"
A group of Taoist priests ran towards the direction of the sound with torches, leaving only one person behind on this side of the house.
Su Ruojin gestured for Zhao Jingning to stay where she was. She checked the wind direction, crept up to the windward side, and opened the bottle cap.
A short while later, Zhao Jingning saw the Taoist priest collapse to the ground with a thud.
Su Ruojin and Zhao Jingning helped the Taoist priest to a relatively secluded place, and Su Ruojin fed him a pill.
"Let's go, he won't wake up for at least an hour."
The two quickly entered the third room. Su Ruojin came to the bedside, squatted down to observe, and found that the area under the bed was even cleaner than she had expected.
She climbed down, reached in and touched a ring.
Below is a tunnel!
Su Ruojin observed her surroundings and found no signs of movement around the bed's legs, indicating that moving the bed was not necessary to enter or exit the tunnel.
She gestured for Zhao Jingning to join her in searching the bed and the room.
A moment later, Zhao Jingning waved vigorously at Su Ruojin.
Su Ruojin hurried over, and Zhao Jingning pointed to a footstool.
Su Ruojin felt a bump on the footrest. She waved for Zhao Jingning to stand aside, then pressed down hard.
The bed board opened in the middle, revealing an entrance to an underground passage. Pulling open the ring revealed layers of steps.
The two lit a tinderbox and walked down the steps hand in hand.
