Having learned their lesson from the human-faced snake incident, Su Ruojin and Xiao Yanchu dared not easily enter the cave.
Given the existence of a human-faced snake that can mimic a baby's cry, it's not surprising to see another monster that can speak simple human language.
"Help...help..." Then the voices came again, and they were closer and clearer.
"Jingshan!" Xiao Yanchu recognized Mu Jingshan's voice and quickly entered the cave with Su Ruojin.
The cave was dark and cold. Su Ruojin took out a tinderbox and lit it, only then realizing that the cave was very large.
It's so large that there's even a pool inside, with stalactites standing above it, and water droplets falling into the pool.
Su Ruojin held up the tinderbox and spun the light around the cave before she could see what appeared to be a person lying by the pool.
Xiao Yanchu had excellent eyesight and, by the dim light of the fire, recognized Mu Jingshan at a glance. He rushed over and picked him up.
Mu Jingshan, lying in Xiao Yanchu's arms, was dressed in tattered blue clothes, his hair was disheveled, his face was pale, and his lips were purplish and chapped.
His head, hands, and feet were covered in silver needles; he was in a semi-conscious state, his whole body burning hot, and he seemed to be unconsciously murmuring, "Help...help..."
"Ah Jin, come quick and see what's wrong with Jingshan?"
Su Ruojin stepped forward and quickly took Mu Jingshan's pulse.
"What's wrong with him?" Xiao Yanchu asked anxiously, seeing that Mu Jingshan didn't seem to be able to hold on much longer.
"He's been poisoned."
"What kind of poison?"
Su Ruojin shook her head: "I don't know, I've never seen this kind of poison before. Pull up his trouser leg and take a look."
Xiao Yanchu did as instructed, and when Mu Jingshan's pants were pulled up, he could see the shape of his calves.
Not only Xiao Yanchu, but even Su Ruojin, who had seen many patients' wounds, was stunned.
Mu Jingshan's calves were swollen all over, covered with blisters of all sizes, and these blisters were actually multicolored, including red, yellow, white and blue.
Some of the blisters have already broken, and the pus and blood that have come out are of various colors.
This made Mu Jingshan's calves look very strange.
What's even stranger is that ordinary wounds, if left to fester for a long time, will develop a foul odor.
Mu Jingshan's calves didn't smell bad; instead, they had a unique fragrance.
Perhaps it was because the strange fragrance attracted ants and other small insects, but a dense circle of ants and other small insects surrounded Mu Jingshan.
But they were all corpses.
Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that some ants were crawling onto Mu Jingshan's legs, but after a short while, they all fell to the ground and died.
He was clearly poisoned by the pus flowing from the blisters on Mu Jingshan's calves.
Su Ruojin had never heard of this poison before, let alone seen it.
She asked Xiao Yanchu to move Mu Jingshan to the other side, then took out insect repellent and sprayed it around Mu Jingshan to prevent any more mosquitoes from getting close.
She removed the needles from Mu Jingshan's body, re-administered the acupuncture, and gave him some pills to take.
Although she cannot cure the poison, she can suppress its effects.
Fortunately, Mu Jingshan was a doctor himself. The moment he realized he had been poisoned, he used silver needles to stop the poison from spreading to his heart, thus saving his life.
He probably knew he wouldn't last much longer, so after sounding the whistle, he found this place with water and waited for someone to rescue him.
Mu Jingshan brought some food with him when he went into the mountains, and the presence of water was what allowed him to survive for so long.
