Because of their childhood friendship, Tokugi Yasuhito naturally became the most trusted person of the former emperor, who entrusted him with the military power of Yamato.
Twelve years ago, the former emperor suddenly fell ill and died, leaving behind only one son, the current emperor, Takamori Hidetoshi.
At that time, Xiujun was only seven years old and still very young, so Deyi Kangren took over the administration of the court, making him equivalent to the regent of the Great Chu.
Over the years, Tokugi Yasuhito gradually sidelined the young emperor and became the de facto ruler of Yamato.
This Tokugi Yasuhito was a ruthless man. After he came to power, he massacred the Yamato court and killed all the families of those who opposed him.
When the smallpox epidemic broke out in Yamato, Tokugi Yasuhito ordered that if a village had even one case of smallpox, or a village suspected of having smallpox, it should be burned and the entire village massacred, with the motto "better to kill a thousand innocent people than let one guilty person go free."
It wasn't until Musashi brought back the Queen's method of inoculation that the chickenpox epidemic crisis in Yamato was resolved.
Deyi Kangren, however, claimed that he had received divine inspiration in a dream and attributed all the credit to himself.
In the past few years, during the Dahe snow disaster, people were struggling to make ends meet. He then levied an additional 30% tax, forcing people to sell their children, and countless people starved or froze to death.
Some people, unable to endure their plight any longer, rose up in rebellion. Deyi Kangren dispatched troops to suppress them, just as during the smallpox epidemic. Once a single rebel appeared in a village, the entire village was massacred.
They spared no one, regardless of age, gender, or physical condition, and forcibly suppressed them. Now, the people of Yamato dare not easily discuss morality, righteousness, health, or benevolence.
Although Tokugi Yasuhito had countless concubines in his harem, only his concubine Tsukimi Nami gave birth to a son, Tokugi Yusei, who was only fifteen years old.
The young emperor, Long Shengxiu, is nineteen years old this year. He has been physically weak since childhood and has not yet gotten married.
Rumors circulated that the young emperor was too weak to have sexual relations, which was why he was unable to marry.
Su Ruojin was stunned. The emperor was an only son and was unable to have sex. If this were true, it would mean the end of the emperor's lineage.
This would undoubtedly be a fatal blow to Yamato, and could even shake the foundation of the Yamato Emperor's rule.
Su Ruojin suddenly thought of the Emperor's summons today. If the Emperor was truly impotent and wanted to see her, the Great Chu Divine Physician, then there seemed to be another explanation.
However, all of this is just speculation.
"What about Deyi Xinwu?" Su Ruojin asked.
"Although Tokugi Shingo is Tokugi Yasuhito's uncle, Tokugi Yasuhito lost both his parents at a young age and was raised by Tokugi Shingo. The two are more like father and son."
For Deyi Kangren, Deyi Xinwu was both a father and a teacher.
"In terms of ruthlessness, Tokugi Shingo is no different from Tokugi Yasuhito, and Tokugi Shingo's shadow is behind many of Tokugi Yasuhito's tyrannical acts," Shen Yu said.
Isn't this just a classic case of a powerful minister seizing power from the late emperor's young son and taking control of the court?
Throughout the thousands of years of history of the Great Chu, such incidents were commonplace and not surprising.
"Second brother, what about you over here?" Su Ruojin asked.
Su Ziyang replied, "Dahe does indeed have some medicinal herbs that Da Chu does not have. I had someone bring back a copy of each one, and I also made a copy of the efficacy of these herbs."
After saying that, Su Ziyang took out a small booklet and handed it to Su Ruojin.
Su Ruojin opened it and saw that the booklet had pictures of some herbs and notes on the effects of each herb, which were indeed not available in the Great Chu.
"The back of the booklet contains poisons that Japan has. I don't know anything about medicine, nor do I know how different they are from those of Da Chu, so I had them all copied down for you to see," Su Ziyang added.
Su Ruojin flipped to the back of the booklet, where there were many names of poisons she had never heard of, along with notes on their preparation methods, effects, and so on.
She glanced at them and found that many of these poisons had similar effects to those of the Great Chu, except that the medicinal materials used were different and the refining methods were much more complicated than those of the Great Chu poisons.
None of the poisons had the same symptoms as the poison that De Yikangren suffered from.
It was quite an achievement for Su Ziyang to collect all this time in such a short period of time.
"Second brother, Prince Shen, you've worked hard."
Su Ziyang waved his hand, "What's the big deal? By the way, let me tell you, I saw something strange today. These Japanese are really weird."
"What's so strange?" Shen Yu asked, intrigued.
