Chapter 44 relates to offspring (2/2)

"Okay, I'll be there in a bit." Su Ruojin led Xiaobao to the backyard.

When Madam Lin saw Xiao Bao, she was also surprised. After learning about the situation, she felt a pang of heartache and thought of Su Ruojin, who had fainted in the snow.

"This child is pitiful. You go ahead and do your work. Leave him to me."

After thinking for a moment, Madam Lin took out a small wooden sword from the cabinet. It was a toy that Yuan Hong used to play with.

"Little Bao, do you want to stay with Grandma? Grandma will give you a little wooden sword."

“Little brother, I’ll show you how to play with swords.” Yuan Hong chimed in from the side.

Xiao Bao rolled his eyes, looked at the little wooden sword, released Su Ruojin, and walked towards Old Madam Lin.

Su Ruojin breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, Xiaobao was willing to accept Madam Lin; otherwise, she wouldn't know what to do if he kept clinging to her.

Running a clinic means she has to see patients. If she keeps Xiaobao with her all the time, and he's weak, it would be troublesome if he caught another disease from other patients.

After settling Xiaobao in, Su Ruojin went to the consultation room and began today's consultation.

On the first day of the new clinic, there were many onlookers but few people actually came for treatment. After seeing off the second patient with a cold, Du Yu and his wife came to say goodbye to Su Ruojin.

As the host, he stayed a little longer: "Dr. Su, we're leaving now. Please let me know if you need anything."

Perhaps due to her introverted nature, Madam Du was not fond of talking. With a smile on her face, she nodded slightly to Su Ruojin.

Just as Du Yu finished saying goodbye and was about to leave, Su Ruojin called out to him, "Mr. Du, please wait."

Du Yu turned to look at Su Ruojin with some confusion: "Dr. Su, is there anything else?"

Su Ruojin glanced at Madam Du: "Would you two be willing to come with me over there to have a chat? It's about having offspring."

Upon hearing the word "offspring," both Du Yu and his wife's expressions changed.

"Okay." Without saying another word, Du Yu led his wife into the room.

Su Ruojin gestured for Zhihua to close the door before slowly speaking: "Mr. Du, if I'm not mistaken, you two have been married for many years but have no children, right?"

Du Yu sighed, while Madam Du's eyes reddened slightly as she took out a handkerchief and wiped the corners of her eyes.

"Dr. Su, to be honest, my wife and I have been married for six years but have not been able to conceive. We have seen many doctors, and they all say that my wife is too weak to get pregnant. I am also planning to go back to my hometown for the New Year to adopt a child into my name."

Du Yu had previously considered asking Doctor Su to take another look, but considering that he had seen countless doctors over the years, including the renowned Dr. Cai, without any improvement, and also because Doctor Su was an unmarried young woman, which made things somewhat inconvenient, he gave up on the idea.

Now that Su Ruojin brought it up herself, Du Yu no longer hid it, and even felt a glimmer of hope.

Other doctors came to him seeking treatment and explaining their situation, but Dr. Su only glanced at his wife and knew they had no children. Perhaps she has real skills.

Du Yu and his wife had a very good relationship. However, his wife had never given birth to a child, and many people advised him to take a concubine, but he refused.

Unable to withstand the pressure, Madam Du took the initiative to find a respectable woman for her husband to take into his household. Unexpectedly, Du Yu simply gave her a sum of money and sent her back.

Hearing Dr. Su mention this matter now, Madam Du felt filled with guilt and silently wiped away her tears.

It was her own fault for being so useless, which caused Du Lang to have no descendants.

Madam Du even thought to herself that if she died, her husband could remarry and have more children, and wouldn't be a burden to her.

But she couldn't bear to part with him, couldn't bear to part with such a good man.

Su Ruojin didn't say much. First, she took Madam Du's pulse, and then she had Du Yu place his hand on the pulse pillow.

Although doctors don't knock on doors, Du Yu had helped her a lot, and Su Ruojin wanted to repay him for it.

Du Yu was taken aback: "Dr. Su, do I need to have my pulse taken too?"

Why would a grown man like him need to have his pulse taken if he can't have children?
