Chapter 13 Granny Yang

"Greetings, Your Highness. This old servant is Granny Yang from the Empress's palace." Granny Yang bowed respectfully to Qu Qingxi.

"Oh, it's Granny Yang! Please rise quickly. Qingdai, offer Granny Yang a seat." Qu Qingxi was curious about what Granny Yang wanted to do here, but she still put on a good show.

"Granny Yang, the Prince has gone to court and hasn't returned yet. If there's anything urgent, please wait a bit. He should be back soon."

"Your Highness is too kind. This old servant is not here to see the Prince, but to see Your Highness," said Granny Yang with a kind smile.

"Then I wonder what business Yang Mama has with me?" Qu Qingxi still wore a gentle smile, but inwardly she became wary.

Why would anyone from the palace want to see her? It must be either the Emperor or the Empress. Qu Qingxi remembered that the Emperor and He Liufeng had a good relationship, so they shouldn't be making things difficult for her, right?

"Your Highness, please don't be nervous. This old servant has only come to inquire about Your Highness's health."

My body? What's wrong with my body?

Seeing that Qu Qingxi still looked puzzled, Granny Yang smiled and said, "Your Highness, you and the Prince have been married for more than a month, and there has been no good news. So the Empress sent this old servant to bring Your Highness some tonics and the like."

"Happy news? What happy news?" Qu Qingxi looked blank. Wasn't He Liufeng already married and getting better? What other happy news could there be?

Qingdai didn't understand the meaning of "happy occasion" at first, but when she caught a glimpse of the smile on Yang Mama's face, she suddenly had a flash of inspiration and understood what it meant.

Seeing that the princess still didn't understand, he quickly leaned close to Qu Qingxi's ear and said, "Princess, it's asking if the princess is pregnant with the young prince."

Upon hearing this, Qu Qingxi nearly spat out the tea she had just drunk. What the hell? Young Master?

They haven't consummated their marriage, so where did the little prince come from? If they had a little prince, wouldn't He Liufeng be cuckolded?

Besides, even if they consummated their marriage and didn't have children, could it be that He Liufeng's problem or that it was definitely hers?

Although she thought this way, Qu Qingxi still smiled shyly, "Granny, this..."

Just as Qu Qingxi was about to say that this matter should be left to fate, she saw He Liufeng stride in.

In the past, Qu Qingxi did not need to bow when she saw He Liufeng, but today, with Granny Yang present, Qu Qingxi stood up and gave He Liufeng a casual bow, so as not to let Granny Yang find fault with her again.

"This old servant greets Your Highness." When Yang Mama saw He Liufeng enter, she quickly stood up and bowed to him.

"No need for formalities, Granny Yang. May I ask what brings you here today?" When facing outsiders, He Liufeng was not as casual as he was in front of Qu Qingxi, but instead put on the airs of a prince.

"Your Highness, it's nothing serious. The Empress just asked me to bring some tonics for the Princess to help her recover." Granny Yang stopped sitting and stood there, her expression more cautious than before.

This Prince of Nanqing may appear gentle and polite on the surface, but he is actually ruthless. If anything happens, even the Emperor will have to give him some leeway. She is just a lowly nanny by the Empress's side. If she says the wrong thing, she could easily lose her life here, and then even the Empress will have no say in the matter.

"To nourish the princess? Is the princess feeling unwell?" He Liufeng turned to look at Qu Qingxi. How come he didn't know about this? Wasn't she perfectly fine last night? She climbed over the wall and onto the roof without even noticing.

Qu Qingxi didn't speak, but looked at Granny Yang. It was Granny Yang's turn to explain to him at this time.

Noticing He Liufeng's slightly unpleasant expression, Granny Yang quickly spoke up, "No, it's just that Her Majesty the Empress thinks the Princess Consort is a bit thin and should be properly nourished."

In front of He Liufeng, Granny Yang dared not say anything about the young master.

"I see. Then please thank the Empress for me." He Liufeng glanced at Qu Qingxi and noticed that she was indeed a bit thinner than the other girls. She should take good care of herself so that others wouldn't say that he was mistreating the Princess at home.

"Your Highness is too kind. Now that the tonics have been delivered, this old servant will take his men back to the palace to report."

After finishing her sentence, Granny Yang left with her entourage.

"Bring the tonics over here so I can take a look." He Liufeng looked at the items placed to the side.

Soon someone brought the items to He Liufeng, and He Liufeng opened the gift boxes one by one. Inside were indeed some excellent tonics.

"Qingdai, since this is your sister-in-law's thoughtfulness, you should have the kitchen prepare it for the Princess every day from now on."

After He Liufeng finished speaking, but Qingdai did not reply, he looked up at Qingdai again and saw that Qingdai kept her head down and dared not look him in the eye.

Why aren't you saying anything?

"Cough cough cough." Qingdai glanced at Qu Qingxi's face and just kept coughing. She only listened to the princess, and since the princess hadn't spoken yet, she didn't dare to agree casually. What if the princess didn't like it?

Ling Mu hadn't expected that Qing Dai would dare to refuse the prince's question. Did she have a death wish? Ling Mu stared at Qing Dai with wide eyes, then quickly moved closer to her and nudged her with his elbow. But after all that effort, Qing Dai still didn't reply.

"What's wrong? If you're sick, call a doctor to give you an acupuncture?" He Liufeng narrowed his eyes slightly and sneered. He could let bygones be bygones that day, but Qingdai actually dared to do this again today. She's really gotten a lot bolder.

Upon hearing He Liufeng's words, Qingdai immediately stopped coughing. Instead, she darted around, avoiding the prince's gaze, fearing that if the prince became displeased, he might throw her into that training camp for another year or two.

“Since Qingdai is someone the Prince assigned to me, she naturally has to listen to me.” Qu Qingxi turned to look at Qingdai, whose expression relaxed slightly.

"That's true, it was my oversight." He Liufeng apologized quite readily.

Hearing that the prince actually apologized to the princess, Qingdai's face lit up with joy, while Lingmu was filled with disbelief. When did the prince become so easy to talk to?

"Qingdai, take all these things downstairs first, I'll go and deal with them later."

"Yes, Your Highness." Qingdai quickly called to the maids outside and left with the tonics brought by Granny Yang.

Although the prince didn't say anything, she was still terrified. She almost couldn't resist listening to him, but thankfully the princess spoke up for her.

"Is Granny Yang really just here to deliver some tonics?" He Liufeng felt that it wasn't that simple. Although the Emperor and Empress usually treated him well, they had no choice but to let Qu Qingxi marry him to bring good luck.
