Chapter 77 (8,000 words) Xuan Yizhen turns evil,...
Seeing Xuan Yizhen so gentle and beautiful, Yin Xing was so distracted that he almost forgot what he was doing. He quickly raised his hand to show the ring in the box and said, "Yizhen, this ring has a very important meaning in my world. Look, there's a name engraved inside it."
After saying that, Yin Xing took out a ring and showed Xuan Yizheng the words engraved on the inside, feeling a little embarrassed.
Xuan Yizhen lowered his eyes to look at the silver ring before him. The outside was decorated with patterns and inlaid with jade. Inside, besides their names, there were also various symbols. He asked in confusion, "What is this?"
"Love is a symbol of love." Yin Xing explained with a hot face. He originally wanted to write in English, but considering that Xuan Yizheng didn't know it, he had to rule it out.
"Is that so? Then put it on now." Xuan Yizheng raised his hand curiously to put on the ring, but Yin Xing held his palm, and he was a little confused.
Yin Xing solemnly put the ring on Xuan Yizhen and said, "In our area, rings worn on different fingers have different meanings. The ring finger is the wedding ring, and married people often wear it."
Xuan Yizhen looked at the ring on his finger and asked thoughtfully, "But you and I have been married for three years, why haven't you prepared a wedding ring?"
After saying this, Yin Xing fell silent. He blinked and looked at Xuan Yizhen, saying embarrassedly, "Because I have to save money."
When they first got married, Yin Xing was penniless, and then he suffered losses year after year. It was really true that plans could not keep up with changes.
This ring can be said to be the sum of Yin Xing’s daily expenses for a year.
Xuan Yizhen looked at Yin Xing's flushed cheeks, raised his hand to pick up another ring, held her hand, and slowly put it on the same spot. He said softly, "If you have any wedding ceremonies, why not tell us about it and have it done sooner rather than later."
Although Xuan Yizheng still didn't believe that Yin Xing came from another world, and there was no such thing as wedding rings in Xizhou.
However, many people in Xizhou have witnessed Yin Xing grow up, and she is undoubtedly Yin Xing from the Xizhou Marquisate.
But Xuan Yizhen was willing to cooperate with Yin Xing's thoughts, just as she knew her illness and was still willing to cooperate with him to live a quiet life.
Yin Xing shook his head and replied, "There's nothing else that's different, so there's no need to spend money."
As he spoke, Yin Xing lowered his eyes and looked at the identical rings on his and Xuan Yizheng's fingers. The corners of his mouth couldn't help but rise, and he felt happy.
Seeing Yin Xing looking so cute and innocent, Xuan Yizheng's calm eyes and brows were also stained with a hint of smile. He moved closer to her upturned lips, greedily but restrainedly, and slowly moved forward, as if he wanted to devour her happiness.
"Well, wait a minute." Yin Xing noticed Xuan Yi's real interest, and thinking of his recent absurdity, he held her hand and retreated from the lingering kiss.
"What's wrong?" Xuan Yizheng looked at Yin Xing in confusion, his eyes wandering between her watery lips. His throat was dry and his voice was slightly hoarse.
Yin Xing didn't want to make Xuan Yizhen unhappy, but thinking that health was more important, he had to answer truthfully: "I've been feeling a little weak lately."
Xuan Yizhen let out a faint smile, the air was cold and quiet, and there was a pure and charming look in her misty eyes. She looked at Yin Xing's face and said slowly, "Then you can just lie down and not move."
Hearing the sound, Yin Xing almost collapsed. He looked at Xuan Yizheng with a red face, thinking that she was not old enough to be as fierce as a wolf or a tiger!
Just when Yin Xing was distracted and thinking, Xuan Yizheng gently pushed him down on the couch, feeling a little dazed.
The rustling sound stopped, and Xuan Yizheng leaned down to look at Yin Xing's clear round eyes, stroking her delicate cheeks with his fingertips, his eyes full of love and affection.
Yin Xing almost wanted to follow Xuan Yizhen's wishes, but considering his health, he still held her hand, resting his cheek on her palm, trying to stop the action, muttering in a cute way: "Yizhen, don't you think it will make you weak if you do it too frequently?"
"Don't worry, I'm not that useless."
“…”
These words carried an inexplicable destructive power, making Yin Xing feel that Xuan Yi was really saying that he was useless.
In the dead of night, the waterside pavilion hums softly, the evening breeze blows by, and a slender willow touches the water surface, swaying gracefully, creating circles of ripples, blurring the moonlight on the water surface, leaving only the ground covered with frost white, moist and delicate.
The next day, the rain stopped and the sky cleared up with bright sunshine. In the Dali Temple's general treasury hall, Yin Xing lay over the desk with sleepy eyelids drooping. He was convinced that he was indeed not very useful!
The branches outside the window are showing the new green of spring after being washed by rain, but the moisture of yesterday is long gone from the roof tiles and the heat is gradually evaporating.
The sun rises high in the sky, and things change slowly. Time passes and it is almost the Ghost Festival. The streets of the capital are full of vendors selling sacrificial items.
In the morning, there was also an atmosphere similar to that of burning paper money in the Dali Temple.
Yin Xing sniffed lightly and saw the clerks in the corner burning paper money. He asked in confusion, "What are they commemorating?"
"Master Xiao Yin, you don't know that the Dali Temple's morgue burns paper money to commemorate the wronged souls every year. This year, many coroners have died one after another, and only colleagues are holding memorial services." The clerk responded.
Seeing this, Yin Xing was a little surprised, but since the clerks had already gone to work, he didn't dare to ask about the specific cause of death of the missing coroners.
From a distance, Jiang Yun was seen in the corridor carrying a stack of paper money, accompanied by Liu Ci and a little girl. They seemed to be doing something.
Jiang Yun walked through the corridor and saw Yin Xing, so he gave the paper money to Liu Ci and asked them to leave the Dali Temple first.
"I heard that the Marquis of Xizhou and his wife died of illness. You have to take care of a lot of funeral affairs this year. Please accept my condolences." When Jiang Yun heard the news, he felt that the Marquis of Xizhou must have done too many immoral things, so they all died in a year, except for the unlucky Yin Xing.
"These were all handled by Princess Zhang Hua. I didn't expect such an accident to happen." Yin Xing smelled the lingering smell of paper money and felt a little uncomfortable.
Yin Xing originally thought he would have to go back to Xizhou for the funeral of the Marquis and his wife, but Xuan Yizheng said he would make arrangements, so he didn't take it too seriously.
Jiang Yun noticed that Yin Xing didn't look too sad, so he stopped talking and said, "Okay, Liu Ci and I have something to talk about, so I won't say much."
Yin Xing was a little puzzled when he saw Jiang Yun not laughing for once. He turned his head to watch her hurriedly leave the Dali Temple and then step towards the general warehouse.
There are several days before and after the Ghost Festival when people can pay homage to their ancestors, and the imperial court even has a holiday. I wonder who Jiang Yun and the others are so anxious to pay homage to.
Colleagues in the general warehouse hall talked about the details of their relatives' memorial services in twos and threes, and their words couldn't help but express the ruthlessness of time.
Yin Xing, who had been listening, thought of the people who died in Tianchuan and felt that he should prepare something to commemorate them.
So in the evening, Yin Xing left the Dali Temple early, which was rare, and went to the shop to buy paper money.
When I passed by the once prosperous Quelou, I found that it has changed a lot now.
Yin Xing thought of Yi Sanniang, and burned some paper money at the place where they had parted before getting on his horse.
As night slowly falls in the sky, the ashes of burning paper money can be faintly seen in the corners of the streets, and the smell of burning fills the evening breeze.
Yellow and white paper money fluttered in the wind on the street, and people were burning paper money on the roadside while sobbing quietly. There was no prosperity in sight, only endless sorrow and silence.
It seems that even though the plague in the capital was under very good control, it still took the lives of many people. Yin Xing held the reins tightly and did not stop, unable to bear to watch any longer.
When the sky was completely dark and the lights in the courtyard were on, Yin Xing took a bath and raised his hand to fold gold ingots and paper money, very seriously.
Xuan Yizhen came out of the inner room after taking a medicinal bath and saw a pile of paper money. He walked forward and sat down, saying softly, "If you want to offer sacrifices to the Marquis of Xizhou and his wife, why not let the maids do it?"
"It doesn't matter. I also want to pay tribute to the many people who lost their lives in Tianchuan." Yin Xing actually wanted to say that he would send it to the original owner, but he felt that the statement was too creepy, so he had to say it vaguely.
"Okay, have you been to Quelou today?" Xuan Yizheng raised his hand, picked up a piece of paper money and folded it, and asked casually.
Yin Xing nodded, not doubting that Xuan Yizhen knew where he was going, and answered truthfully, "Yes, I passed by Quelou when I was buying paper money, and I remembered Yi Sanniang who was murdered and had her face peeled off, so I burned some paper money to commemorate her."
Now Princess Xinyang and the others are still living a life of ease and comfort, which makes people feel depressed just thinking about it.
Xuan Yizhen placed the folded ingot aside and said slowly, "You and Yi Sanniang aren't really acquaintances or close friends, so why have you remembered her for so long?"
"I don't know how to explain the reason. I wasn't familiar with him, but I just met a living person, and he died in the blink of an eye. I feel bad." Yin Xing has experienced a lot of things now. He always feels that beneath the prosperity and bustle of the capital lies a cruel and ruthless reality. Human life is as worthless as grass, and this is never a joke.
"If I die in the future, will you feel bad?" Xuan Yizheng asked calmly, looking at Yin Xing who was too soft-hearted.
In fact, Xuan Yizheng wanted to say that everyone will die one day, but when he saw Yin Xing's depressed look, he changed his words.
"Of course, so I hope Yizhen lives a long life!" Yin Xing came back to his senses and looked at Xuan Yizhen with a calm expression. He felt that she seemed to be indifferent as if she had seen through life and death, which made him a little sad.
Now Du Ruo's whereabouts are unknown, and there is no more news about the illusion Gu in Xuan Yizheng's body. There is really no way to find a cure.
Xuan Yizhen met Yin Xing's concerned gaze, folded paper money with her fingertips, and whispered, "You're worried about too many people in your heart. I'm afraid you'll be too busy with the Ghost Festival to worry about me."
Yin Xing saw Xuan Yizhen's nonchalant words, but could clearly sense her unhappiness, and quickly said, "No, Yizhen is always the most important person. I promise to fold a lot of paper money and gold ingots for you, so you can spend them all!"
After he finished speaking, Xuan Yizhen's brows relaxed, and a faint smile flashed through his eyes, as clear as a mirror, like the scenery of lakes and mountains. He jokingly said, "Didn't you just say that you hope I live a hundred years? You should burn these paper money and gold ingots for others."
If Xuan Yizhen knew that time was running out, he would definitely not let Yin Xing live alone.
So why would she need to burn paper money and gold ingots for herself?
Thinking of this, Xuan Yizheng smiled more gently and tenderly, his eyes overflowing with love, like a dense spider web, or like layers of entangled cocoons, binding Yin Xing little by little, like possession, or like retaining, and refusing to refuse.
"Hehe, that's true. It's better not to mention unlucky words." Yin Xing realized that his words were unlucky and didn't mention them again.
In a quiet place, the two sat facing each other, folding paper money ingots. Yin Xing saw that Xuan Yizhen's face showed no displeasure and was calm and peaceful, so he changed the subject and asked, "I heard that the coroners from the Dali Temple who were taken away by the emperor's eunuchs were all killed. Did you know that, Yizhen?"
Although Jiang Yun always mentioned Xuan Yizhen as knowing everything and being omnipotent, he even always suspected that Xuan Yizhen was the mastermind behind the scenes.
But Yin Xing always felt that Jiang Yun was too suspicious, because Xuan Yizheng had never been competitive. Apart from tending to flowers, reading, and playing the piano, she seldom interacted with others. How could she possibly get involved in the disputes in the capital?
Even though there were rumors in the capital a while ago that Xuan Yizheng ordered the Wanqi family to exterminate the Du family of Wuzhou, Yin Xing felt that it was more like the work of Ji Nuguan and others.
After all, Xuan Yizheng once said that these old people were loyal to the Wanqi family rather than her, so it would be easy for them to take the initiative to get involved in disputes.
Xuan Yizhen replied calmly, "Yes, it is said that the coroners from the Dali Temple were crushed to dust, leaving only a few bones."
"How could this happen?" Yin Xing didn't know the more specific details, so he was quite surprised.
"The emperor has always been cautious in his work, so it is naturally not easy for him to discover the reason. However, when you returned to the villa, you not only had to fold paper money and ingots out of kindness, but also had to worry about the work of the Dali Temple. Isn't this too cold to me?" Xuan Yizheng raised his eyes and looked at Yin Xing with a slightly resentful expression, and said in a low voice.
Yin Xing's heartbeat quickened at Xuan Yizhen's cold and abstinent look. He quickly collected his thoughts and replied apologetically, "Yizhen is right. I wonder what Yizhen is busy with in the other courtyard today?"
It was probably because Xuan Yizheng was too beautiful, so it was hard for people to control themselves after she teased them a little.
Xuan Yizhen replied teasingly with a faint expression: "What else can I be busy with? I'm just using the jade doll to kill some time."
Hearing the voice, Yin Xing looked at the jade doll placed not far away with a hot face. The doll had curved eyebrows, a simple face, flowing black hair, and a well-behaved demeanor.
Xuan Yizheng would change Yuou's clothes and accessories every day, which showed that he took good care of her.
However, because the jade doll looks too much like himself and causes the uncanny valley effect, Yin Xing does not often take the initiative to touch it.
"Yizhen, is it not good to keep the jade doll here all the time?"
"So where do you want to put it?"
Yin Xing met Xuan Yizhen's frank gaze and tactfully replied, "For example, a wardrobe, or another room."
In short, Yin Xing doesn't like Yuou watching him and Xuan Yizheng get along. He always feels that it is like a third party, which is weird.
Xuan Yizhen looked at Yin Xing's changing expression and replied meaningfully, "Okay, go carry it to the closet and don't damage it."
"Okay." Yin Xing put down the paper money and stood up happily, stepping towards the jade doll with many red ribbons hanging down. It had curved eyebrows and a bright smile, looking a little silly. In his heart, he complained that his image in Xuan Yizheng's heart was so stupid.
Just when Yin Xing was trying to do two things at once, the jade doll's joints made a clicking sound, and it lowered its head as if nodding in response, and suddenly fell silent.
When Yin Xing picked up the jade doll with both hands, he realized that it was not light. He suddenly understood why Xuan Yizheng could hold him so skillfully.
Fortunately, the wardrobe was very large, and Yin Xing put the jade doll inside without much effort. He looked at the crimson ribbon in its hair, which was exactly his favorite color. Xuan Yizheng cared about it very much.
Thinking of this, Yin Xing felt a little sad for some reason. He raised his hand to close the cabinet door, feeling lucky that out of sight, out of mind.
At least Xuan Yizheng would listen to his instructions and lock the jade doll in the closet, instead of being fickle and doting on one jade doll over the other.
The candlelight outside was dim, darkness encroached, and the jade doll in the closet lay motionless, shrouded in dust.
Early the next morning, Yin Xing left the villa. Xuan Yizheng slowly turned his head to look at the wardrobe, walked forward slowly, reached out to open the door, and light poured in, illuminating a white jade doll.
"It seems that even idiots get jealous sometimes." Xuan Yizheng chuckled with her beautiful eyes lowered, her thin lips curled up, and she raised her hand to support the jade doll's body and carefully carried it out. Countless red ribbons hung from its body, as conspicuous as blood, winding and changing.
Outside the pavilion, sunlight cast dappled light across the pond. As Yin Xing rode through the street, he couldn't help but sneeze a few times, wondering if someone was saying something bad about him behind his back.
Walking along the long street, Yin Xing watched the vendors selling items for sacrifice. The Ghost Festival was not a one-day event, but several days.
Therefore, ashes from burning paper money can be seen everywhere on the streets of the capital, and even most children wear talisman masks.
"Authentic black dog and rooster blood, exorcise demons and monsters, cure all diseases instantly!"
"One hundred ghosts parade at night, the talisman paper will keep your home safe!"
"The Bagua Mirror is a magical tool for exorcising evil spirits. It can identify demons and monsters!"
The shouting continued, and Yin Xing was dazzled by the various talismans and magic weapons. He remembered the suspicion caused by the crazy horse in the past, but he didn't expect that the chaos would be even worse now.
Is it because the plague caused so many casualties that this year's Zhongyuan Festival fits the atmosphere of the Ghost Festival so well?!
When Yin Xing arrived at the Dali Temple as usual, he found that officials and clerks were all wearing talismans and other items, some even had copper coin talisman strings, with many varieties, but they were not cheap at first glance.
Chief Curry's colleagues were even more talented, each showing off their unique abilities. The hanging Bagua mirror alone reflected several rays of light, and Yin Xing even suspected that he had entered the wrong door.
"First, the Wuzhou Du family used witchcraft to create a plague. Then there was the ominous sign of fire flowing from the sky. Then, the Second Prince was possessed and went mad, attacking people. I think it's all related to ghosts and gods. We have to be on guard."
"It's said that in the mass grave outside the capital, someone had half of his body bitten off by an evil spirit. It was a horrific sight."
Yin Xing felt as if he had entered a ghost story. The promised prosperous dynasty shouldn't be so short.
In the afternoon, the sun was shining brightly in the sky, and the general warehouse seemed empty and deserted. Jiang Yun climbed in through the window and was almost hit in the face by the hanging Bagua mirror. He sat down in embarrassment.
Yin Xing poured the tea over and looked at Jiang Yun, asking curiously, "Why didn't you buy some talismans or something?"
Jiang Yun took the teacup without hesitation, resumed his playful expression, and said, "I am a righteous man, ghosts should be afraid of me!"
"Is the capital city in turmoil lately?"
"No, apart from the gossip about the Ghost Festival, there's nothing serious going on."
Yin Xing looked at Jiang Yun in confusion and said, "But why did I hear that someone had half of his body bitten off by an evil ghost?"
Hearing this, Jiang Yun burst into laughter. After a while, he stopped joking and said, "That man was killed by a wild dog. Where did you hear these rumors?"
Upon hearing this, Yin Xing didn't expect that his colleagues in the general treasury would spread rumors, and he felt a little embarrassed.
"Nothing, just hearsay." Yin Xing turned to practice footwork, which he had become more and more proficient in recently.
Because of Tianchuan’s experience of fleeing, Yin Xing now wishes he could learn all kinds of martial arts.
Unfortunately, Jiang Yun said that his physical condition was too weak and he had no hope of winning a fight, so he could only practice self-defense and escape skills.
Jiang Yun watched Yin Xing practice his footwork, distracted by thoughts about the coroner. He sipped his tea intermittently and said, "But the death of the Dali Temple coroner was very strange."
Yin Xing paused waving his arms, then tilted his head to look at Jiang Yun. Curious about Xuan Yizhen's words, he asked, "The bodies of the coroners have been burned to ashes. What clues can we still find?"
"No, but it is consistent with the way the person sent by the Wanqi family to ask for Princess Zhanghua's hand in marriage and the way your two younger brothers died." Jiang Yun didn't understand what the emperor was hiding and why he had to be so cautious.
"If you say so, are they all being harmed by the Emperor's orders?"
"That's unclear. Anyway, the coroners said the cause of death was plague, and the emperor's eunuchs personally buried him with great honors and gave him rewards."
Yin Xing suddenly lost the desire to practice his footwork, as he remembered that the emperor had sent palace guards to escort him into the palace because Marquis Xizhou was involved in the rebellion of the Xiahou family.
Now that the war is over, the Marquis of Xizhou has immediately fallen ill and passed away. This is too much of a coincidence, and even seems like a revenge after the event.
Seeing Yin Xing lost in thought, Jiang Yun asked, "What are you thinking about?"
"It's nothing, I just feel that the situation is confusing now. Although I can't see the situation clearly, I feel like we are walking on the edge of danger, and people are in panic." Yin Xing felt that the emperor couldn't help but plan something bad.
"Don't think too much about your courage. Even the best masters can't kill people invisibly. There will always be a moment to draw the sword." Jiang Yun comforted Yin Xing, but he couldn't figure out what the emperor wanted.
As he finished speaking, there was a sudden cry from outside the window and a loud noise from inside the Dali Temple.
Jiang Yun immediately put down his teacup, picked up his sword and jumped out of the window. Yin Xing also felt something was wrong. He wanted to jump out of the window but was not very skilled, so he had to go through the main door.
When Yin Xing walked through the corridor, he saw several constables holding a petty official with a red face and a ferocious look with several long sticks.
The scene was a bit chaotic because the petty official struggled to break free from the restraints, as if he was crazy, reckless, like a wild beast.
Jiang Yun took a long rope, dropped it from the roof, and tied the clerk up neatly, tying him to the beam.
The crowd then stopped making any noise, many of them grumbling and talking among themselves.
"Isn't he possessed by an evil spirit?"
"He was fine this morning, but now he's suddenly gone crazy. It's really puzzling."
"I think I'll send it to be exorcised."
Yin Xing listened to the clerk's roar, his eyes falling on the wound on the back of his hand. A horrifying thought occurred to him, and he asked, "Has he come into contact with someone who's been bitten by a mad dog?"
Rabies is 100% fatal once it breaks out.
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone retreated. Jiang Yun turned his head to look at the clerk who had broken free from the rope, and was shocked!
At dusk, the Dali Temple was brightly lit and filled with solemn silence.
The attendant official Ruan Teng was even more nervous. Liu Ci came out of the morgue, looked at Jiang Yun and others, and said, "It looks like rabies. If there are any injured people who have been attacked, they need to be guarded and observed immediately."
After he finished speaking, everyone avoided Jiang Yun. Jiang Yun showed his arm injury with a relaxed look and said, "Okay, whatever you arrange."
Yin Xing looked at Liu Ci's gloomy expression and admired Jiang Yun's courage very much.
As night fell, Yin Xing returned to the waterside pavilion of the villa, still a little frightened.
Amidst the mist and the dim candlelight, Yin Xing bathed in the medicinal soup and anxiously asked, "Yizhen, how can rabies be prevented and treated?"
If it were modern times, Yin Xing would of course immediately recommend Jiang Yun to get vaccinated.
However, the medical methods used in ancient times were probably tantamount to waiting for death.
Xuan Yizhen scattered the herbs into the hot water, fiddling with the water droplets with his fingertips. He lowered his eyes to meet Yin Xing's worried gaze. A little irritated, his expression remained gentle. He spoke slowly, "There are some records in medical books. One is to apply mad dog brain marrow to fight poison with poison, and the other is to gouge out the flesh and use an iron to treat the wound to remove any saliva residue, but these are not absolutely effective."
Yin Xing frowned, recalling the horrific scene from before. He held Xuan Yizhen's hand in his palm and placed it against his cheek, muttering anxiously, "But that mad dog must be running around everywhere. Where can we find it?"
What’s even more terrifying is that the capital is so big that if a mad dog were to roam around and hurt people, it would definitely cause chaos.
Xuan Yizhen touched Yin Xing's warm skin with his fingertips, gently cupped her face, forced her eyes to meet, pursed his thin lips, and said dully, "I'm very unhappy that you're so worried about Jiang Yun."
After she finished speaking, Yin Xing had never expected Xuan Yizhen to change the subject so suddenly. He looked up at her eyes which were dark due to the backlight, and had to suppress his shame, leaned forward, and kissed her tightly pursed lips.
The sound of water splashing was heard, and Xuan Yizheng looked at Yin Xing in a daze. His dark eyes reflected her wetness, as if she was soaked in hot springs and soaked all over her limbs.
When Yin Xing sank back into the water, her cheeks flushed red. She held Xuan Yizhen's hand in her palm and said flatteringly, "Yizhen, don't be unhappy. I won't mention my worries, okay?"
Xuan Yizhen let Yin Xing hold his palm, lowered his eyes to look into her wet eyes, like a mountain elk, innocent, touched the wedding ring on her finger with his fingertips, and said: "Okay, now you are very good at dealing with me."
"Hehe, Yizhen is praising me, right?"
"I guess so."
Not long after, Yin Xing came out of the shower and had a meal with Xuan Yizheng.
Suddenly, Yin Xing discovered that the jade doll that he had moved into the closet was placed back in its original place, and was changed into a new set of clothes. He almost suspected that he was dazzled!
The Ghost Festival, can’t be so weird?
Yin Xing looked at Xuan Yizhen who was eating leisurely and said hesitantly, "Yizhen, shouldn't the jade doll be in the closet?"
Xuan Yizhen looked into Yin Xing's clear eyes and teased, "Yeah, maybe it felt too stuffy in the closet, so it wanted to come out for some fresh air."
“…” Yin Xing drank the ginseng chicken soup in silence, thinking that Xuan Yizhen must be joking.
The words fell in silence, the night wind ruffled the gauze curtains, Yin Xing looked at the jade doll sitting properly, and always felt that its smile was eerie.
Not long after, the two finished their meal. Xuan Yizheng went to take a bath, and Yin Xing folded paper money ingots, but he always felt that the jade doll was peeping at him.
In the silence, the candlelight flickers, the light and shadow change, and the scene becomes blurred.
Suddenly, he heard a clicking sound next to his ear, and Yin Xing couldn't help but shudder, feeling creepy!
Then Yin Xing looked at the jade doll curiously. She tilted her head with an innocent look, as if she was looking at him specifically!
The night wind blew, and the paper money and gold ingots on the table flew everywhere. Yin Xing took a deep breath, stood up and picked up the paper money, as if he didn't care.
Yin Xing carefully came to the side of the jade doll, sorted out a pile of paper money and gold ingots with his fingertips, and looked at the red ribbons hanging on the ground. Each one corresponded to a different joint and the workmanship was very fine.
Just as Yin Xing was convincing himself that this was a jade doll, his neck was suddenly grabbed fiercely and he was thrown to the ground, caught off guard.
The jade doll that always has curved eyebrows and a smile on its face, opens its eyes as empty as the abyss, and is simply a demon from hell!
What was even more despairing was that Yin Xing found that he could not speak to Xuan Yizheng because the jade doll was forcibly eating his flesh and blood.
Yin Xing was terrified and tried to kick the jade doll away using his hands and feet. As a result, half of his left arm was broken. It took him a lot of effort to finally escape from the clutches of the devil.
Then Yin Xing wanted to go to the inner room to find Xuan Yizheng, but he was suddenly restrained by familiar hands. The ring between the slender jade-white fingertips was extremely familiar.
Yin Xing looked at the smiling Xuan Yizhen in disbelief, but she saw her gently and considerately persuade him, "Xing'er, be good. Let the jade doll eat you. This way, it can become a better Xing'er and stay by my side forever, instead of worrying about anyone around."
Despair and sadness overwhelmed everything, causing Yin Xing to even ignore the pain of having his flesh and blood eaten by the jade doll. He looked straight at Xuan Yizhen, who seemed to be wearing a gentle and smiling mask, and was almost flawless. Only then did he realize that she was crazier than he had imagined.
Perhaps I shouldn't try to get along with Xuan Yizheng with an ordinary person's mentality. Yin Xing felt as if he was losing weight and falling.
In the darkness, light filled his eyes, and Yin Xing cried out in horror: "Ah!"
Then he saw the brightly lit water pavilion and Xuan Yizhen in a plain inner garment. Yin Xing realized that he was lying on a low couch with his hands and feet intact. It was just dawn.
"Why did you have a nightmare?" Xuan Yizheng raised his hand to wipe the cold sweat from Yin Xing's forehead, quite puzzled.
"I don't know why I dreamed that the jade doll was biting me." Yin Xing was so tired that he didn't have the strength to get up. He turned his head to look at the jade doll not far away, which still looked well-behaved.
Xuan Yizhen's lacquer eyes reflected a smile as he looked at the pitiful Yin Xing in his arms, pretending to think: "Maybe you are jealous that Yuou has gained my attention and replaced your position. You are a little petty."
Yin Xing stared at Xuan Yizhen with eyes wide open, unable to refute. He stammered, "No, I think maybe I was just scared yesterday."
"If you're really not worried that this well-behaved and obedient jade doll will steal my attention, then why don't you move it into the closet in the future?"
"Wait, I'm still a little worried."
Xuan Yizhen nodded considerately and replied, "Okay, it seems like what you think about during the day will appear in your dreams at night."
Yin Xing silently watched Xuan Yizhen teaching earnestly, and thought it would be better not to let her know the second half of the dream.
Otherwise, Xuan Yizheng probably wouldn't have the heart to tease himself.
If it is true that you dream at night what you think about during the day, then the dream about Xuan Yizhen turning evil because he despised me for not being obedient enough is probably not entirely groundless.
After all, Xuan Yizheng doesn't like to care too much about other people, and he has been expressing his unhappiness more and more directly recently.
Speaking of which, Xuan Yizheng is the petty one!
Of course Yin Xing would never say it.
Just as Yin Xing was calming himself down, he suddenly felt a chill in front of him. He was so slow to notice Xuan Yizheng's actions that he was startled!
"Yizhen, isn't it inappropriate to do this so early in the morning?" Yin Xing said, his face flushed as he covered his loose clothes in embarrassment.
"You're sweating, don't you want to wash and change clothes?" Xuan Yizheng held the belt between his fingertips, very gentle and considerate.
Yin Xing then realized that he had misunderstood Xuan Yizhen, and blushed, "I don't like being stared at by Yuou. I'd better go inside to change and wash up."
Xuan Yizhen glanced at the jade doll, then stood up from the bed with Yin Xing. His gaze drifted to the tips of her red ears, and he chuckled softly, "It's just a dead object, why do you care?"
"I don't know either, but I just feel it's very strange." Yin Xing walked behind the screen and took off his clothes.
Xuan Yizheng looked at the slender figure in front of him, with thin joints, smooth lines, fair skin, and legs as thin as bamboo shoots swaying in spring, with even thinner ankles. His eyes moved around silently, yet extremely anxiously.
Yin Xing simply washed and changed his clothes, then turned around and looked at Xuan Yizhen standing not far away. She was tall and graceful, and asked in confusion, "Yizhen, aren't you going to wash up?"
"No rush." Xuan Yizheng raised his hand and pinched a few strands of wet hair on Yin Xing's cheek, tucked them behind her ears, and looked at them carefully.
"Is there something on my face?" Yin Xing was confused by Xuan Yizheng's gaze. He raised his hand to wipe it, bringing out the falling water droplets.
Xuan Yizhen picked up the embroidered handkerchief and wiped the water droplets off Yin Xing's cheek. "No, I just remembered that you mentioned that your left arm was broken in your dream. It might be because you caught a cold at night."
In fact, Xuan Yizheng felt that Yin Xing didn't need to worry that Yuou would replace her.
After all, there can be millions of copies of the jade doll, but there is only one Yin Star.
However, Xuan Yizheng felt that it was quite good to be able to make the innocent Yin Xing show jealousy.
It's better than Yin Xing caring about irrelevant people, which will only make Xuan Yizheng feel irritated and angry, and want to destroy everything.
Yin Xing didn't know Xuan Yizhen's violent thoughts. He raised his arm and soothed him, "Don't worry, it's just a dream. There shouldn't be any symptoms."
"But you've been saying you're weak lately. If your arm isn't feeling well, it'll be a hindrance when we get close. That jade figurine isn't as precious as you."
"Well, if it's just my left hand, it shouldn't be a problem."
Yin Xing was still caught off guard by Xuan Yizhen's straightforwardness, but when he heard her mention Yuou, he subconsciously looked at Yuou's hand and secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, the jade doll was not finely crafted, but was carved as a whole, otherwise Yin Xing would have suspected that Xuan Yizhen was having an affair with the jade doll behind his back.
Alas, other people are just like humans, why are Xuan Yizheng and I so different?
