Chapter Sixty-One: Aunt Liu and Her Daughter

"Exactly, Boss Zhou didn't steal money from our phones. We wanted to buy it, so how can we blame him?"

"Exactly! Are some people not enjoying their food? They're really like the type who eat from a bowl and then curse its cook—how despicable!"

"I'm a level 30 veteran fan! Tomorrow's 20% off is mine! Nobody can take it!"

"Looking forward to Mr. Zhou's new products, see you tomorrow!"

"Boss Zhou is awesome! Those trolls, get lost!"

...

Rational fans and true longtime fans instantly erupted in excitement.

Zhou Yang's response did not disappoint them; on the contrary, it strengthened their resolve to follow him.

That openness, that confidence, that delicious food, and those real benefits instantly shattered the negative public opinion that Liu Peng had carefully cultivated!

Seeing the tide turn in the group chat in an instant, with his ID filled with mockery and insults, Liu Peng was so angry he almost smashed his phone.

Damn it, why isn't this kid playing by the rules!

He knew the situation was hopeless, and staying any longer would only bring him further humiliation.

"Hmph! Let's go! This is a garbage group, a complete mess! We're not staying here!"

Liu Peng left his last message in the group chat.

Then he tagged several accounts that he had previously incited the most, and they took the lead in clicking "Leave the group chat".

Scattered by him, a dozen or so people, either influenced by him or who had just cursed Zhou Yang and felt they couldn't stay any longer, left the group.

The number of group members has visibly decreased.

In response, Zhou Yang merely glanced at the message "XXX has left the group chat" displayed on Xu Yao's phone screen.

A barely perceptible smile played on his lips as he casually remarked, "It's good to clean up some trash."

Looking at Zhou Yang's nonchalant attitude, Xu Yao's panic and grievances gradually subsided, replaced by a strange sense of peace and admiration.

Zhou Yang, you're amazing...

Just as the two were preparing to clean up the mess, a series of urgent and forceful knocks sounded on the door.

"Thump thump thump! Thump thump thump!"

One voice after another, tinged with impatience.

Zhou Yang frowned.

Who is this? Aunt Liu?

He walked over somewhat irritably and suddenly flung open the door.

Sure enough, the landlady, Aunt Liu, was standing outside the door.

Her face, which was already somewhat harsh, was now filled with displeasure.

Standing beside her was a young woman in her early twenties, Liu Lili, the daughter of the "sports car friend" that Aunt Liu had tried so hard to sell to her last time.

Liu Lili wore a pink dress and her makeup was not very elaborate, trying to show some sweetness.

But in Zhou Yang's opinion, compared to the pure and charming Xu Yao, or the bright and cheerful Wang Miao, it was better to choose someone else.

Liu Lili's appearance was far inferior, and she even had an undeniable air of vulgarity about her.

What are you doing?

Zhou Yang blocked the doorway, his tone unfriendly.

He had no liking for this landlord who was eager to use his daughter to marry into a wealthy family.

Aunt Liu suppressed her anger at him for not opening the door for so long, pointed at Liu Lili next to her, and spoke in a self-righteous tone.

"Xiao Zhou, look, my daughter Lili came back today. I asked you to help introduce her to your rich friend last time."

"If you can get your friend to like my Lili, I'll waive your rent for the next three months! How about that? Pretty generous, right?"

Zhou Yang frowned as he listened, feeling a wave of nausea.

Using his daughter as a bargaining chip, and he says it so self-righteously?

This is truly mind-blowing.

He didn't even bother with a superfluous expression, coldly uttering two words: "No time."

After saying that, before Aunt Liu could say anything more, he slammed the door shut with a loud bang!

The movements were swift and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.

"Hey! You—!"

Aunt Liu was so angry at the loud noise and Zhou Yang's attitude that she trembled all over and almost couldn't catch her breath.

She pointed at the closed door and yelled, "Hey, you ungrateful brat! What a piece of trash! You don't know what's good for you!"

"Let me tell you, Zhou Yang, don't think you're so great just because you have a few stinking coins. Once my daughter marries into a wealthy family and becomes a rich lady, you won't even have time to beg and beg to curry favor with her!"

Sharp, scathing curses echoed in the hallway, harsh and unpleasant to hear.

Zhou Yang, however, seemed not to have heard at all. He shrugged at Xu Yao, who was also somewhat dumbfounded, and made a speechless expression.

"Noise pollution? Just move it away, and we can continue."

He ignored the noise outside the door and quickly sealed the last few boxes with tape.

Once everything was ready, he checked his watch; it was almost time.

He picked up the set of keys to the rented apartment, took a deep breath, and opened the door.

Aunt Liu was probably tired of scolding, and was panting heavily in the stairwell with her hands on her hips. When she saw Zhou Yang come out, she wanted to argue a few more words.

Zhou Yang didn't give her a chance, and directly handed the key to her in a calm and indifferent tone.

"Aunt Liu, I'm not renting the room anymore. Here's the key back. Could you please settle the remaining rent and deposit? I'll move out now."

Aunt Liu's harsh face instantly seemed to have found an outlet.

A glint of triumphant satisfaction flashed in Tianyan's eyes, as if he had seized a huge handle on Zhou Yang!

With her shrill voice and hands on her hips, she looked exactly like a shrew yelling in a market.

"You want to move out? Fine, get out, and don't even think about taking your rent and deposit back!"

"You want your money back after you terminate your lease early? No way!"

Sure enough, this old woman was no pushover.

Zhou Yang sneered inwardly, but showed no sign of panic on his face.

He slowly took out the rental contract he had signed from the table.

He spread it out and pointed to one of them.

“Aunt Liu, look carefully. Article 8, Section 3 of the contract states in black and white: ‘If Party B (Zhou Yang) needs to terminate the contract in advance after one year of renting, he/she shall inform Party A (Aunt Liu) on the same day, and the deposit and the remaining rent for the current month will be refunded in full.’”

"You know how long I've been renting, right? I notified you yesterday that I'm moving out today, which is perfectly reasonable and legal."

The original owner had agreed with Aunt Liu that short-term rentals were not allowed, but long-term rentals would last for a full year, and the rent and deposit would be refunded at any time.

Aunt Liu glanced at the clause, her eyes clearly flickering.

But then he stubbornly refused to admit it and started acting like a rogue.

"I don't care about contracts or anything, I said I won't refund, and that's final! Who told you to upset me? Unless..."

She rolled her eyes and pointed to Liu Lili, who had been silent but whose eyes were lingering on Zhou Yang.

"Unless you call your rich friend who drives a sports car right now and have him come over and meet our Lili!"

"If this deal goes through, I'll pay you back the deposit and rent, I'll even give you some extra money!"

A leopard can't change its spots; even on the verge of death, he's still thinking about selling his daughter to climb the social ladder.

Zhou Yang felt a churning in his stomach and didn't even have the desire to refute.

"Pfft..."

Xu Yao, who had been quiet all along, suddenly couldn't help but chuckle.
