A marriage contract falls from the sky

A marriage contract falls from the sky

As soon as Li Yin left the private room and went downstairs, he looked around to make sure that Yu Su and the others were not there before striding into the crowd.

After walking a few steps, they heard people talking, "I heard that the Wen family in the capital has asked the Emperor for the hand of the Li family's daughter who was rejected in marriage."

Upon hearing this, an old woman approached and said, "Li Yin? Has she gone mad? That girl was just jilted and is now the laughingstock of Jincheng."

Upon hearing this, Li Yin also went over to her. She had another marriage; how come she didn't know?

She leaned closer and asked, "Grandma, which Wen family?"

The lady turned around and saw a girl with a simple bun, delicate features, a face like distant green mountains, and red lips and white teeth. She was delighted and said, "Silly girl, how many Wen families are there in the capital? Of course, it must be the one who has connections in the palace."

As she spoke, she looked at Li Yin and praised him highly, saying, "If you ask me, I think you are more beautiful than that Miss Li. I have a good marriage prospect for you. If you are interested, I can introduce you to a fine young man. I guarantee he will be a handsome and talented gentleman."

Li Yin smiled and declined, saying, "Thank you, but I have no plans to get married at the moment, though I do have plans to become a nun."

Li Yin knew from the very first sentence that this person was untrustworthy. Yu Ling looked exactly like her, and even those close to her couldn't tell the difference after the identity was changed.

The man clicked his tongue and said, "Young lady, why do you want to become a nun at such a young age? What's so good about becoming a nun? You'll always be in remote, secluded places, far from human habitation."

Li Yin nodded in agreement, saying, "It's good to stay out of worldly affairs like this. You'll be carefree, without worries or anxieties, only joy and happiness."

The man shook his head and said, "Absurd! A woman who doesn't marry is truly living a life of despair, destined for a life of sorrow, loneliness, and desolation."

Li Yin just smiled and said, "Not really. But everyone has their own way of living. What you say is your way of living, and what I say is the way of living I want to live."

The man looked at Li Yin and muttered, "He's really young and doesn't know his own limitations."

Li Yin wasn't annoyed. He walked onto a familiar road, bypassed the crowd, and took a side path.

Leaving the noise behind, stepping into the silence, I walked along the red wall to a small back door, knocked three times, and someone opened the door.

Yu Ling looked at Li Yin and said, "You still know how to come back. I thought you had completely forgotten."

Li Yin looked at the face that resembled his own and said, "How could I forget? I'm back here to deal with the problem, aren't I?"

Yu Ling handed Li Yin a bamboo hat to put on, then took her hand and led her to a courtyard.

Surrounded by bamboo, the bamboo groves are secluded and quiet, their verdant greenness exuding vitality.

Li Yin admired the green bamboo through the curtain. He gently touched it with his fingertips and felt its cool touch. This feeling was somewhat like someone—his senior brother whom he had just met.

The thought of that person teasing her and spitting out blood made her feel inexplicably disgusted, and she even felt a bit disgusted with bamboo as a result.

She withdrew her hand instantly with a light touch. Yu Ling had taken in her every move. She smiled gently, her hair ornaments swaying lightly, and the jade pendants on her body jingling.

She said, "Didn't you love bamboo the most? It stands tall and graceful, with a smiling spirit. Now you don't like it anymore?"

Upon hearing this, Li Yin said, "It's not that I don't like bamboo, but that I don't like a person. That person is too..." For a moment, Li Yin couldn't think of a word to describe it, and after struggling for a long time, he still couldn't come up with a word.

Seeing this, Yu Ling stopped and turned to look at Li Yin, asking, "Your senior brother?"

Li Yin nodded and asked, "How did you find out?"

A gentle breeze rustles the bamboo leaves, causing them to sway softly. Strands of hair flutter and the hair ornaments tinkle gently.

Golden light filtered through the bamboo leaves, gently falling onto Yu Ling's clothes and hair. Her face was already as beautiful as a painting, but now, hidden in the bamboo grove, she was even more picturesque.

Li Yin sighed sincerely, "Beauty is still called Green Bamboo."

Upon hearing this, Yu Ling raised an eyebrow and said, "Are you indirectly praising yourself?"

Li Yin was about to refute, but then she thought back. The two of them looked exactly alike, so it seemed like they were indeed praising her.

Yu Ling gently tapped a bamboo tree in the courtyard and said, "It's time to snap out of it, little sister. Of all the people you've mentioned to me in recent years, only my senior brother has been around."

Li Yin said "Oh". Seeing Li Yin's somewhat carefree attitude, Yu Ling shook his head gently and pulled Li Yin into the room.

Upon entering the room, Li Yin removed his bamboo hat, lay comfortably on the bed, and said, "I've heard a little about it. The Wen family in the capital, do you want to marry into them?"

Upon hearing this, Yu Ling smiled and said, "Good sister, is that all you heard?" She held up a cup of tea and handed it to Li Yin.

Li Yin smiled and took the cup, taking a small sip before saying, "Is there anything else I missed?"

Yu Ling nodded and sat down on the edge of the bed, saying, "I guess I can't do it for you this time. You've lived under my identity for eight years, and it's time to pay it back."

Li Yin shook her head and said, "No, you are Miss Li now, and I am Yu Ling. Besides, I am just a country girl and can't act like a young lady. Good sister, please be a good person to the end."

As she spoke, she tugged at Yu Ling's sleeve, gently shaking it as if she were being coquettish and trying to please him.

Yu Ling took the teacup from Li Yin's hand and gently placed it on the small table beside him. She said, "Wen Lan's son is good at reading people's hearts."

Upon hearing this, Li Yin sat up abruptly. "Prying into people's hearts, do you have any evidence?"

Yu Ling shook her head. Seeing Li Yin's somewhat anxious look, she said, "This is the rumor circulating in the capital."

Li Yin pondered for a moment and said, "Most of the claims about reading people's hearts are fake. I was also given that title three years ago, but I don't know how to do it. I can only observe people's words and expressions and see the truth through subtle details."

Li Yin then looked at Yu Ling, blinked, and smiled, saying, "Good sister, please help me..."

Yu Ling shook his head and said, "The Wen family is not as easy to deal with as the He family. If something really goes wrong, you, me, and even our whole family will die."

Li Yin fell into deep thought. After a long while, she said seriously, "Then all I have to do is break up this marriage."

Yu Ling said, "Easier said than done. Do you have a plan?"

Li Yin nodded and said, "Of course there are, but..." She smiled slyly and whispered in Yu Ling's ear.

Yu Ling also leaned closer, her expression changing slightly upon hearing this. After Li Yin finished speaking, she hesitated and said, "I can't do this."

Li Yin said, "I know, so I'll take your place for the rest of the month, but I have to pay you back when the time comes."

Yu Ling nodded and said, "Deal."

Just as she finished speaking, the person in front of her suddenly collapsed. When Li Yin's head was still a hand's width away from the bedpost, Yu Ling reached out and caught Li Yin's head.

She murmured, "I've gone to all this trouble. Why do you trust me so much?"

Incense burned in the room, its purple smoke gently swirling around, lightly brushing against Li Yin's nose, then suddenly rising to his heart.

Li Yin's eyelashes trembled slightly as she gently woke up. As soon as she woke up, she immediately covered her nose. The incense had a faint orange scent, which made Li Yin feel a little nauseous.

For some reason, she could never stand the smell; it made her feel nauseous.

As he stood up, he noticed that he was wearing a light blue robe with a soft fabric and gold thread along the edges, which gave it an air of nobility.

Li Yin stretched and gently waved away a wisp of smoke in front of him, then casually picked up two jade hairpins from the table and put them in his hair.

She quickly opened the doors and windows, and a gentle breeze swept through, brushing her hair and lifting the hem of her clothes. The fragrance of bamboo washed away the strong scent, leaving a light and subtle fragrance with a lingering charm.

At this moment, the sun is high in the sky, casting a warm glow on the ground.

Li Yin walked at a leisurely pace. As soon as he stepped out of the courtyard, he saw an acquaintance coming towards him: Yu Su.

When Yu Su saw Li Yin, she was first taken aback, then her face showed urgency. She said, "Miss, why are you dressed so plainly again? It's fine on ordinary days, but not today. Today is a big day."

Upon hearing this, Li Yin asked, "A big day? What kind of day?"

Yu Su said quickly, "A few days ago, an imperial edict was issued, and today the Wen family has come to see us."

Li Yin nodded and said, "Oh, I thought it was some big day, but it's just this. No problem, this will do, it'll fit perfectly."

Yu Su was stunned in disbelief. "Huh?" The young lady wore the same outfit last time and ruined her marriage with the eldest son of the He family. Now she's probably going to cause trouble again.

She immediately knelt down in a panic, grabbing Li Yin's clothes and saying, "Miss, you really can't cause trouble this time, or you'll lose your head!"

Seeing this, Li Yin quickly helped Yu Su up and said, "Do I look like someone who doesn't understand the big picture and can't assess the situation?"

Yu Su nodded seriously.

Li Yin: "..."

Yu Su tried to pull Li Yin into the courtyard, but was stopped by someone. Li Yin said to Yu Su, "Don't worry, I really won't cause trouble this time. I won't forget your rules, and you can't forget mine."

Upon hearing this, Yu Su nodded to Li Yin. The young lady did not allow maids to enter the room; this was a rule established eight years ago, and all the servants in the mansion adhered to it. She had almost made a mistake in her haste.

Li Yin released her hand and gently patted Yu Su's head, saying, "Let's go."

Yu Su remained worried. After hesitating several times, she took a deep breath and said, "Miss, this is too plain. Why don't we go to Madam's place and add some more?"

Li Yin walked around the archway to the flowerbed, picked a red camellia, and casually stuck it in his hair, saying, "How about this? Is it vibrant enough?"

The jade hairpin was simple and elegant, perfectly matching her face, which was as beautiful as if painted with ink. She wore a blue robe and had black hair. If there was any shortcoming, it was the gold thread on her sleeves, which was too bright. Silver thread would have been more harmonious.

As resilient as a pine tree, as flawless as jade, with smiling eyes and gentle, flowing charm, it is a beauty that does not make a fuss, a beauty that is silent. This seems quite nice, but adding a bright flower, while bright, breaks the balance and adds a touch of vulgarity.

Yu Su knew that her mistress was probably trying to tease her.

But Li Yin asked earnestly, and seeing that Yu Su seemed to be hoping for praise, her eyes sparkling.

Yu Su sighed and quickly took the flowers down. She said, "Let's leave them as they are. I suddenly feel that they look pretty good like that."

Li Yin smiled and said, "Well, now you have good taste too."

Yu Su: "..."

After many twists and turns, they finally arrived at the guest hall. Outside the door, Yu Su stopped and saw that her young mistress had also stopped and was sneaking around the door.

Seeing the green hem of a garment peeking out from the corner of the door, Wen Youqing's lips curled slightly. Zhu Nanren beside her also shut his mouth. Seeing that the two of them were not speaking, Li Chuangming also stopped talking.

Looking in the direction of Wen Youqing's gaze, all that could be seen was a green hem of clothing.

Just as Li Yin pressed his ear to the door, the room fell into dead silence. He had just figured out what was going on when he looked down at the hem of his skirt and knew the reason.

The wind came at just the right time; her green skirt swayed playfully in the breeze. It was as if the heavens were helping her, as she was just thinking about how to make a bad impression.

She noticed the gazes and knew now was the perfect time to go out. So she slowly peeked out from behind the door, smiled at Li Chuangming, and said, "Father."

Li Chuangming's face immediately turned pale. He glanced at the two people sitting to the side out of the corner of his eye, and only breathed a slight sigh of relief when he saw that they were not angry.

He gave Li Yin a look, signaling Li Yin to come over.

Li Yin looked at him, tilting his head to the side, and asked, "Father, do you want me to come here?"
