Beauty's Schemes
Seeing his appearance, Li Yin suddenly remembered what the person on the ground had said to her. She slightly curled her lips, pretending to tease him, but her tone was inquisitive, with a hint of sourness that she herself did not realize, "Some people say that you are only infatuated with me for a while."
Wen Youqing walked over and placed his foot on the neck of the person on the ground. He stomped hard without expression, and a crisp "click" sound rang out here, in Li Yin's ears.
Li Yin lowered his eyes and looked at the ground. Blood spilled from the corner of the man's mouth, and the bright red blood fell to the ground. When Wen Youqing stepped on it, the eyelashes that had struggled slightly no longer fluttered like butterflies, and the trembling fingers no longer trembled, the nails digging into the mud.
This was the first time Li Yin had witnessed Wen Youqing kill someone; it was swift, decisive, and happened in the blink of an eye.
Wen Youqing tilted her head and asked Li Yin, "Was it this person who said it?" Although he asked, his tone was certain.
Li Yin looked up at Wen Youqing. This man had a face like jade, a dashing young master, and his most striking feature was his eyes, which were full of affection. But those eyes were also the most terrifying, like a deep, cold, and unfathomable pool...
Looking into those eyes, Li Yin felt a chill, as if a powerful superior was staring at its prey.
A gust of wind swept by, gently lifting their hair and dispelling the chill. The ends of their dark hair fluttered and intertwined slowly in the wind.
Looking at Wen Youqing, Li Yin felt a chill, but then returned to calm. Beneath the frozen ground in his heart, everything seemed to melt, and a surge of joy, like a tidal wave, welled up from the bottom of his heart... a joy of finding a kindred spirit overflowed within him.
Li Yin couldn't help but curl her lips into a smile. She said, "I thought you didn't kill people."
Hidden in Wen Youqing's sleeve was another hand with distinct knuckles and fair fingers, but... stained with blood. Upon hearing this, he slightly bent his knuckles and completely submerged his fingers in the blue sleeve.
He lowered his eyes slightly, smiled faintly, and instead of continuing the topic, asked, "What did she say?"
Li Yin was about to speak when she realized that what she was saying made her seem jealous. But... why was she like this? She was slightly conflicted, but in the end she swallowed her words.
She said lightly, "It's nothing, just some trivial words." But the bitter feeling lingered in her heart. No matter what she did, it was still there. She wanted to scratch at it, but she couldn't find a place to do so. It was all in vain. But if she didn't look for it, she would feel uncomfortable all over.
Wen Youqing's eyes darkened upon seeing this. He stopped smiling and said, "You're unhappy, but you won't tell me what you're hesitating about."
Li Yin couldn't help but feel a strange sensation in her heart, and she blurted out, "Have you brought other people back to the manor before?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Youqing was taken aback at first, then smiled and said, "My wife, do I look like that kind of person?"
Li Yin stared at Wen Youqing. She didn't know why she thought that way. That person's words had made her think about it many times.
...
"She's just a lowly bride, who knows how long she'll stay. The young master is only interested for a short time. How dare a merchant's daughter step into the gates of the prestigious Wen family?"
...
I wonder how long she can stay... So, did Wen Youqing bring anyone else back?
But once she asked, she realized she had made a foolish mistake. The Wen family was a prestigious household; how could anyone normally enter?
And... what about her?
One question after another exploded in his mind, so Li Yin took a breath, chose to ignore it, and stopped thinking about it.
Wen Youqing stared intently at Li Yin, who was watching her every move. A slight smile played on his lips. "Li Yin, you like me..."
You like me.
He looked at Li Yin earnestly and said, "I only love you. I will marry no one but you in this life. I am not fickle. I only want to be with you for life." He also only wants to be with you for all eternity, entangled with you endlessly.
His tone grew heavier and more emotional as he spoke, pausing at the last word, his gaze deepening as he stared directly at Li Yin, his words becoming increasingly earnest.
Li Yin listened, her expression unchanged, but a different kind of emotion was churning within her. She lowered her eyes to look at her hands, at her palms, at the lines on her fingertips, and she smiled.
She looked up at Wen Youqing, who slightly avoided the madness in her eyes, her face as calm as jade and her smile as gentle as a spring breeze.
She asked Wen Youqing seriously, "Wen Youqing, have you ever thought about killing me?"
Wen Youqing raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips, a hint of mockery in his eyes. He said softly, "How could that be, my wife? I am utterly devoted to you, I love you so much, how could I ever think of killing you?"
Seeing this, Li Yin stopped asking about it and changed the subject, saying, "Let's go, let's find a courtyard and let me try your cooking, my husband."
She spoke the last two words very softly, almost like flirting. This sentence immediately made Wen Youqing's eyes light up. He looked pleasantly surprised, carried the things around to Li Yin, and raised his voice at the end, very happy, "Madam, does this mean you accept me as your husband?"
Li Yin smiled faintly and remained silent.
The two walked for a while, along the long corridor, leaning on the railing, and arrived at the flower garden.
The flowers in the flowerbed were in full bloom, and among the myriad colors, the most eye-catching were a few large red flowers, as red as fire, even more vibrant than blood, beautiful yet giving off a deadly sense of danger.
The two stopped in the pavilion, which was simple and rustic, exuding a faint fragrance of wood. A small wooden sign hung on the side, which read "Huahaiju" (Flower Sea Residence).
His handwriting is neat, upright, and dignified, like a man and a pine tree. He is a young master from a noble family, and the pine tree is something that grows under the bright moon.
The two sat down at the stone table. Wen Youqing gently placed the item she was carrying on the table. Li Yin glanced at it and saw that the bowl contained osmanthus soup. But why would there be osmanthus in this season?
Seeing this, Li Yin showed a hint of doubt. She then looked at Wen Youqing, whose eyes were fixed on Li Yin, as if he was waiting for her to ask him a question.
He reached out and gently tapped the table three times. On the third tap, Li Yin happened to look over, and he stopped. As he stopped, the wind stirred, gently brushing past them, lifting their hair and clothes, softly and gently, like the caress of an elder.
The air was filled with a light, delicate floral fragrance, which made Li Yin feel much more relaxed.
Wen Youqing said softly, "These are the finest osmanthus blossoms from two years ago. I went to great lengths to preserve them. Do you like them?"
He spoke softly, lowering his tone and making his voice quiet, so Li Yin had to lean closer to hear clearly: a faint, delicate fragrance, with the purity of Chinese medicine without bitterness, and the rich aroma of flowers without being gaudy—pure yet strong, complex, and contradictory…
Wen Youqing inhaled the faint fragrance emanating from Li Yin, and his breathing slowed slightly. A cool touch brushed against his lips—it was a strand of Li Yin's hair, tickling his lips. But this tickling also stirred his heart, and he helplessly moved a little distance away.
He... wanted Li Yin to get closer, and he couldn't refuse Li Yin's approach. However, when this person got close to him, he always felt like he was about to lose control. He didn't want to do those crazy things in front of Li Yin.
He closed his eyes, but the fragrance lingering around his nose did not dissipate. A gust of wind blew, and the fragrance only intensified. Li Yin leaned closer to Wen Youqing and asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Wen Youqing remained silent. The hand he had hidden in his sleeve clenched involuntarily, then slowly loosened. The blood had dried, and every trace seemed to be deliberately etched, carrying a unique charm.
Seeing that he remained silent, Li Yin moved even closer, and Wen Youqing's hand, hidden in her sleeve, clenched tightly again with slightly bent knuckles.
Li Yin observed for a while and saw that the person had no symptoms and a rosy complexion, so she moved a little distance away, scooped up a spoonful, and put it in her mouth. A sweet taste mixed with fragrance filled her mouth.
But before she could savor the moment, someone reached out and grabbed her long neck, stroking her chin with their fingertips, while supporting the back of her head with their other hand and kissing her.
Everything happened too fast. Li Yin's heart was pounding, faster and faster, losing its original rhythm. His heartbeat was out of control for a moment. When Li Yin saw Wen Youqing's handsome face, his eyes widened.
Her eyes were filled with disbelief. The man's actions were domineering, leaving her no room to refuse. She reached out and grabbed Wen Youqing's collar, then closed her eyes and bit Wen Youqing. Wen Youqing's eyes darkened, and he released her.
He was already handsome, and his lowered eyelids gave him the illusion of a helpless beauty who could be bullied by anyone. Moreover, his lips had just been bitten by Li Yin, making them even redder. Li Yin felt a crazy urge to kiss him.
Realizing his own thoughts, Li Yin felt he was going crazy... he must be going crazy.
Why would she want to kiss him?
She doesn't even know what liking someone is, let alone love, and therefore shouldn't want to kiss anyone.
Wen Youqing's eyes were deep and her brows were lowered. She spoke in a very soft voice, "Madam... could you kiss me?"
These words were spoken softly, yet Li Yin heard them clearly. His heart felt like it was being scratched by a cat, an unbearable itch that was extremely uncomfortable. Li Yin disliked this feeling, as if he had a suppressed sense of powerlessness.
Without hesitation, she grabbed Wen Youqing's collar and pulled her over, gently placing a kiss on her crimson lips. Wen Youqing lowered her eyes, looking at Li Yin, her heart filled with excitement, anticipating Li Yin's next move.
Li Yin tentatively approached, but ultimately didn't take it any further. She released her lips, but her eyes remained fixed on Wen Youqing's lips. Just as she hesitated about whether to continue, a "Brother Wen" broke the silence, shattering the ambiguous and tender atmosphere.
A ruthless glint flashed in Wen Youqing's eyes. It's that person again... Zhao Lianying, how come you still couldn't be silenced even with such a poisonous drug last time? You're so noisy.
Zhao Lianying strode over. In front of Wen Youqing, she showed no airs of a princess, but rather resembled a young girl in love. Her hair ornament swayed gently, swinging in arcs with her movements.
