Mutual expression of feelings
He asked in a deep voice, "Li Yin, what exactly are your feelings for me?"
His question stemmed from his resentment. After asking it, he saw Li Yin remain silent, so he smiled. But before Li Yin could speak, a single sentence poured hot water over his already chilled heart.
"I like you." She was silent for a moment before saying this. Then she raised her head slightly and looked in the direction where Wen Youqing had chuckled. She said seriously, "I will be angry when you are angry and happy when you are happy. I have already fallen in love with you without realizing it. Wen Youqing, I like you."
She spoke her mind, and the knot was finally untied.
The reason she hesitated to speak was because she wasn't sure what liking someone meant, or what it meant to be liked.
For her, now she had the answer. Her unexpected flutter of attraction to Wen Youqing was not unexpected at all, and her liking for him was not something that happened overnight. Wen Youqing, I have liked you for a long time.
Perhaps, that's her answer: she likes it.
Wen Youqing was taken aback at first, then his pupils trembled slightly. He looked at Li Yin for a long time, and finally smiled softly. He felt that Li Yin was still lying to him, but he did like to hear these words, and they were also very applicable.
This time, however, his plan to keep Li Yin by his side and take things slowly, through scheming and strategy, had no appeal to him anymore.
He spoke in a low voice, "Li Yin, do you even believe what you're saying?"
Li Yin was taken aback by what she heard. She lowered her eyes and fell silent. Wen Youqing did not believe her.
A red veil suddenly fell on Li Yin's head. The fabric was silky smooth, the materials were of the highest quality, and tassels hung from the four corners.
The fragrance lingering around her nose had just intensified when she was suddenly tackled to the ground. Wen Youqing reached out and grabbed a corner of her veil, saying, "Li Yin, it's time to make up for our wedding night."
These words came out without the expected struggle, resistance, or cursing, but rather a calm and understated "Okay."
A gentle breeze stirs the heart, and still waters ripple softly.
Wen Youqing chuckled softly. He lifted Li Yin's veil, and then, with a hint of possessiveness, kissed Li Yin fiercely.
Li Yin complied with his wishes, closed her eyes, and gently touched the corner of her eye with one hand, her fingertips slightly cold. The man removed the cloth strip and then lightly touched it with his fingertips.
Sleeping alone under the lonely moon at midnight, joyful in the boudoir.
The curtains slowly draped over the fabric, gently and joyfully folding clothes, her voice trembling.
When he woke up again, the sun was already high in the sky. Li Yin had slept very lightly last night and only woke up slightly in the early morning.
Feeling weak all over, she moved around a bit and then quietly got out of bed.
The ground was slightly cool, and the moment your toes touched it, you felt a chill, which made you lose your courage.
She paused for a moment before gently placing her feet on the ground, enduring the cold.
She had only taken a few steps when someone pushed open the door. Wen Youqing followed the light, which naturally fell on him. His white clothes were as white as snow, and he was as ethereal as the moon.
Li Yin looked at it and then smiled. How come she had never thought Wen Youqing was so beautiful before?
When Wen Youqing saw Li Yin, who was wearing a white undergarment and a slightly thin fabric, with her hair hanging down gently, he quietly closed the door, then turned around, picked Li Yin up, and gently placed her back on the bed.
Li Yin fell into Wen Youqing's arms, looked up and saw Wen Youqing's jade-like face, so she reached out and touched it. Then she hooked her arms around Wen Youqing's neck and gently kissed her face.
Wen Youqing was taken aback at first, then he looked at Li Yin and saw that Li Yin just smiled at him, so he asked, "You don't hate me?"
Li Yin shook her head and said, "I like you, Wen Youqing. What I said yesterday wasn't a lie. It was the result of my careful consideration. Wen Youqing, I've actually liked you for a long time."
Wen Youqing was slightly taken aback, then he lowered his eyes. Li Yin thought he still didn't believe him, so he reached out and took Wen Youqing's hand, slowly placing it on his chest, where a heart was beating strongly, and it was beating even faster because of Wen Youqing's arrival.
Wen Youqing looked up and met Li Yin's eyes. He said, "Li Yin, I'll trust you this one more time."
He couldn't hear Li Yin's innermost thoughts last night, but he could hear them again today. He looked at Li Yin and then smiled softly.
Li Yin smiled upon hearing this. She gently tugged at Wen Youqing's sleeve and then said, "Now, can I have some clothes, my husband?"
Wen Youqing said, "There's nothing to do today, you can rest a little longer."
Li Yin nodded and said, "Alright, since you have the rest of the time to spare, why don't you tell me about your other identities?"
Wen Youqing raised his eyebrows slightly upon hearing this. He wasn't surprised that Li Yin had figured out the clues in his words yesterday in the hall. He said, "The head of the Ministry of Justice is just a minor official who doesn't attend the morning court."
Upon hearing this, Li Yin looked at Wen Youqing with a slightly shocked expression. Her eyes widened as she asked, "The Ministry of Justice?"
Wen Youqing gave a soft "hmm," as if it were some very minor official position, an insignificant post, his tone indifferent.
Li Yin appeared surprised, but was even more astonished inside. The Department of Punishments and Garments was independent of its subordinate officials, belonging to its own lineage and controlled solely by His Majesty. The person in charge was truly second only to the Emperor.
Legend has it that the head of the Criminal Law Department was a frail, pale-faced scholar, but he possessed an iron-fisted and cruel method of torturing people.
Their greatest skill lies in playing the long game, catching big fish, killing, and "having fun."
Li Yin looked closely at Wen Youqing. This man had a fair complexion and indeed looked like a scholar. This was no exaggeration.
This explains why Song Bei and Song Liangliang were so afraid of Wen Youqing and why they acted strangely. It turns out they were afraid.
Seeing Li Yin's expression, Wen Youqing smiled and asked, "Madam, are you afraid?"
Her tone was slightly teasing, and her gentle words were tinged with laughter.
Li Yin gently shook her head and said, "I'm not afraid, but I'm very curious about how you hid it so well. Whenever someone has doubts, you always manage to dispel them."
Wen Youqing lowered her eyes, glanced at Li Yin, then pondered for a while, struggled for a moment, and finally said, "I can read minds."
Li Yin frowned slightly upon hearing this, and asked, "Really?"
Wen Youqing nodded, and Li Yin then asked, "Yesterday I confessed my feelings to you, didn't you hear it?"
Wen Youqing said, "I can't hear Your Majesty, and I don't know why I couldn't hear you last night either."
Upon hearing this, Li Yin suddenly seemed to remember something and quickly asked, "How is Zhao Muyue?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Youqing was slightly surprised. He said, "Of course he's dead. He was killed by the King of Song."
Upon hearing this, Li Yin lowered her eyelids and continued, "Do you know the reason why my Li family was wiped out, and who the mastermind behind the extermination of my entire family was?"
Wen Youqing raised her hand and brushed a strand of Li Yin's hair aside. He said in a calm and unhurried tone, "Naturally, it's also the Prince of Song. Madam, didn't you already have the answer?"
Li Yin remained silent, only glancing at a yellowed book on the table.
That was the book I found at the Royal Academy.
After a long while, she sighed and said, "Do you have a way to make me kill him?"
Wen Youqing smiled upon hearing this, twirling a strand of Li Yin's hair with his slender fingers. He said, "That's easy to say, Madam. Isn't there a man named Yuling by his side? That man is the best weapon Madam can use against the King of Song."
Li Yin looked up at Wen Youqing, and Wen Youqing looked at him as well. He said, "We won't lie to her, nor do we want her body or soul. We just want her to do something for us, and then we'll give her her freedom. What's wrong with that?"
Li Yin said, "Alright, but Yu Ling is deeply in love with that person."
She was also afraid of hurting Yuling's feelings.
She wanted to ask her.
Wen Youqing said, "Madam, please feel free to ask. This question is just a suggestion; you are in charge of the rest."
Meanwhile, inside the Prince Song's residence.
Looking at the pale lips of the person on the bed, King Song couldn't help but feel a pang of pain in his heart. He regretted it later, but Yu Ling was stubborn and accepted the punishment, endured the whipping, and refused to follow his plan.
Wouldn't it be better to take Li Yin's place and marry him?
She coughed softly on the bed, her eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly opened her eyes. Zhao Song, who was standing beside her, clenched his hands together instantly from his sleeves, and quickly took a step forward.
But he stopped half a step away, the panic on his face vanishing in an instant, replaced by his usual composure and calmness.
After waking up in Yuling, he reverted to his old ways, becoming somewhat aloof and unapproachable.
Yu Ling was helped up. She lowered her eyes, coughed a few times, and then looked up at the person in blue beside her.
She was about to get up and bow to her master according to the usual etiquette when a slightly cold male voice entered her ears, "No need to bow. You should reflect on your actions. If you continue like this, I will not be able to keep you here."
Yu Ling replied indifferently, "Yes." It was as if what Zhao Song had just said was a trivial matter to her, something insignificant.
Upon hearing this, Zhao Song felt a surge of inexplicable anger and simply turned and left.
As Yu Ling watched the man walk away, he lowered his head. Then, the mouthful of blood he was holding in his throat suddenly spurted out. The blood fell to the ground, blooming like a flower, exceptionally beautiful.
The maid in black standing to the side was dressed in clean and practical clothes, with her cuffs tightly bound and her hair casually tied up with only a hairpin for securing it.
Upon seeing this, she stepped forward, took out a pink silk cloth from her bosom, and gently wiped the bloodstains from Yu Ling's lips.
She said, "Why do you have to do this, young lady? My master is not careful. If you hadn't pointed it out, he probably would never have noticed it in his life."
Yu Ling smiled gently upon hearing this and said, "Thank you for your concern. I never intended to discuss this matter with him."
Even if the master finds out, what will happen? It doesn't seem to matter much, so it's better not to know.
The woman was slightly angry, and her tone quickened. She said, "How could you be so foolish, young lady? If you weren't trying to gain credit, why would you do something like this, transferring the master's poison to yourself? Don't you value your own life?"
She spoke sincerely, so Yuling raised his hand and gently placed it on the back of her hand, patting it lightly to comfort her, saying, "My life was given to me by my master, so this is just repaying him."
