Meeting my senior brother
In Jincheng Yunle, on the bridge and on the road, people were crowded together. Li Yin finally managed to squeeze out of the crowd, but bumped into someone after only a few steps.
The man was about to reprimand her, but when he saw her face clearly, he was first stunned, and then said incredulously, "Miss?"
Li Yin thought to himself: Oh no.
I ran into my childhood maid. I didn't check the almanac before going out, and this time I'm in trouble again.
Li Yin gave an awkward smile and said, "Miss must have mistaken you for someone else. Your young lady is over there." As she spoke, she looked into the distance, waved her hand, and called out, "Miss Li."
Upon hearing this, Yu Su looked back but couldn't see her young mistress. When she turned back, she found that the person in front of her had vanished without a trace.
Just as she was muttering, "Miss is running around again," she turned around and saw her mistress, which startled her greatly.
The young lady who was just wearing light-colored coarse cloth clothes is now dressed in fine silk and satin, with yellow clothes and gold thread, and dark patterns floating in the sun, resembling blue clouds. Her gold hairpins sway gently in the wind, creating ripples with every step.
Yu Su smoothed her chest before saying, "Miss, you've changed your clothes again in such a short time?"
Upon hearing this, Yu Ling looked at Yu Su and asked, "You saw me just now?"
Yu Su nodded, and Yu Ling understood. His younger sister in the mountains should have come down to buy medicine just now.
Yu Ling walked ahead of Yu Su, asking as they went, "Did you see clearly where I came from just now?"
Yu Su looked at Yu Ling and said, "Miss, what are you saying? Have you forgotten the path you yourself walked?"
Yu Ling looked towards the crowd and said, "Yu Su, don't you think that person just now was your young lady?"
Yu Su was even more confused. She said, "Miss, what are you talking about? You are my mistress."
Seeing that Yu Su seemed oblivious, Yu Ling gently shook his head, picked up a sugar figurine from a vendor's stall, paid for it, and handed it to Yu Su, saying, "Next time you see someone wearing coarse clothes, remember to stop them."
Upon hearing this, Yu Su nodded. Her eyes lit up when she saw the sugar figurine. She took it and nodded seriously, saying, "Miss, I'll remember this."
Not far away, in a teahouse, Wen Youqing played with a jade cup in her hand, her slender, fair hand caressing the cup's surface. With a "bang," the jade cup fell onto the table.
Li Yin was also drawn back to his senses by the sound, and turned around to look at the person wearing a bamboo hat in front of him.
The man was dressed in white, wearing a bamboo hat that obscured his face. The only visible part was his hand, which was fair and slender, making him look more like a scholar than a martial artist.
Li Yin clasped his hands in a fist salute and said to Wen Youqing, "Thank you for your help, Senior Brother."
Wen Youqing smiled upon hearing this. Li Yin couldn't see the woman's smile through the white bamboo hat and gauze curtain, but he could hear it.
Her elusive senior brother actually smiled. Master even said that this senior brother had a strange personality and hated it when people smiled in front of him. He was not an easy person to get along with.
"If you see him, remember to take a detour, or you'll regret it." This warning kept popping into Li Yin's mind.
Wen Youqing smiled and then fell silent. Li Yin also shut his mouth, unsure of what to say, while his hands remained clasped in a fist salute.
The atmosphere suddenly became awkward. Outside the window, there was a great deal of noise, while inside, the incense burner emitted purple smoke, and the smoke curled like wisps of mist, but no human voice could be heard.
Li Yin couldn't stand the strange atmosphere any longer. Just as he was about to get up and leave, the man spoke.
A clear, melodious voice filled the room.
"What brings you down the mountain this time?" Wen Youqing asked, her fingertips lightly tracing the edge of the jade cup.
This senior brother is quite nosy, Li Yin said, "He's doing this so he can sell medicine for money."
Wen Youqing paused slightly as he caressed the jade cup, and asked, "Isn't it for a marriage?"
Li Yin found her senior brother's question strange. She replied, "I'm not engaged. Who would marry a village girl who enjoys making poison and harming people?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Youqing smiled and said, "Making poison to harm people? But all I've heard about you is your benevolence and your reputation as a saintly healer in white robes." He gently pushed the jade cup away.
The jade cup darted forward like an arrow, rolling to a stop right in front of Li Yin. Li Yin looked at the cup, puzzled. Was her senior brother asking her to pour water?
"What is this?" Li Yin asked, looking at the jade cup.
Wen Youqing chuckled softly and said, "If I don't pour tea for my senior brother when I see him, do I expect him to pour it for me?"
Li Yin then remembered that although his sect was poor, it had all the proper rules, especially the respect for teachers and the custom of serving tea.
I'd never actually seen it before, so I'd just forgotten about it.
Li Yin reached for the teapot, but just as he was about to touch it, his wrist was grabbed. Wen Youqing's fingers were icy cold, making Li Yin shiver.
Li Yin looked at the hand on her wrist and asked, "Senior brother, what's this?" Before she could finish speaking, Wen Youqing grabbed her hand and suddenly tightened his grip.
Li Yin was startled. She wanted to exert force with her feet, but in the end she didn't. She just went with the force. The person lifted half of her body onto the table. Through the white veil of the bamboo hat, Li Yin leaned closer and looked at the person's face, which was faintly visible.
With sharp features and a high nose bridge, he was as beautiful as a fairy. Li Yin had one thought in her mind: the white clothes suited him very well. She stared straight at the man.
What a handsome young man! Even through the curtain, he is so beautiful and dreamlike. I wonder what the scenery would be like if the curtain were removed.
Seeing this, Wen Youqing also looked at her. Li Yin smiled, blinked, and said, "Senior brother, would you like some more tea?"
Wen Youqing immediately released her grip and said, "You don't know martial arts?"
Li Yin nodded and said, "Practicing martial arts is too hard. What's the point of a girl like me learning this? Do you just want to avoid the hardship?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Youqing smiled and said, "Aren't you the same?"
Li Yin still smiled on her face, but there was no smile in her eyes. She had indeed practiced martial arts, and it was because of this that she followed an old man with a white beard to the mountains and exchanged identities with Yu Ling to become a "village girl".
This senior brother was practically a stranger to her; she had only seen him three times in eight years, each time just a glance, and he was as mysterious as an assassin.
The master had said that she couldn't tell a third person about her martial arts training. This senior brother immediately tried to test her. If Li Yin hadn't met him beforehand, she would have really suspected that this person was there to kill her.
Li Yin gently stroked the inside of the jade cup with his fingers, tapped it twice with his slender fingers, and then pushed the jade cup that had been pushed in front of him back to Wen Youqing. He then stood up and pressed the lid of the jade pot with his fingertips.
Water poured from the pot, steaming and swirling around the rim of the cup. After pouring the water, Li Yin sat down next to Wen Youqing, gently placed the jade pot down, reached out and poked the jade cup in front of Wen Youqing, and said with a smile, "Senior brother, please have some tea."
Seeing this, Wen Youqing smiled and said, "Junior sister, drink first. Senior brother is suddenly not thirsty."
Li Yin said, "How can this be? This is a cup of tea offered by my junior sister. If I don't drink it, does that mean I don't acknowledge her as my junior sister?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Youqing raised an eyebrow slightly and said, "That junior sister seems to like senior brother quite a bit, and even added something to senior brother's tea."
Li Yin's smile froze. What was wrong with this guy? It was just a little bit of poison, it wouldn't kill him. He really couldn't take a joke.
The man chuckled softly, picked up the jade cup, brought it to his lips, and gently blew on it. The curtains swayed slightly, like clouds and mist, much like the rolling and unfolding of clouds. This senior brother seems quite handsome.
Just as Li Yin was about to suggest that they stop drinking, he saw the man gulp it down. With a soft "bang," the jade cup fell to the ground, and Wen Youqing spat out a mouthful of blood.
Spots of red blood immediately appeared on the white curtains, the red against the white, as conspicuous as footprints in the snow, and as alluring as plum blossoms in the snow.
Li Yin was startled. She quickly went over, poured out a black pill from a bottle she carried, and handed it to him in a swift motion.
But just as she lifted the curtain, a hand with distinct knuckles grabbed her wrist again. What was this? Did she not want to live anymore?
Wen Youqing's slender fingers caressed her wrist as she said, "Wasn't my acting pretty good, junior sister?"
He said the last two words with a smile, dragging them out as if teasing him.
Li Yin realized this was a trick and was about to withdraw her hand when the man grabbed it, placing his cold fingers on her pulse. He said, "You've been poisoned."
Li Yin was taken aback at first, then looked at Wen Youqing and said, "You've taken the wrong pulse. I'm not poisoned."
She was indeed poisoned, but there was no cure for the poison. It was said that the Wen family's secret medicine could bring the dead back to life and heal the wounded. But after all, it was the Wen family. The Wen family had people in the palace. Wen Yulan was a noble concubine of high birth, and the current head of the family, Wen Lan, was the prime minister. He had only one son.
She wasn't that foolish to risk everything for a single medicine. She pulled her hand back and said, "Even if I do get infected, there's no need to trouble you, Senior Brother."
Upon hearing this, Wen Youqing tapped her fingers lightly on the table and said, "The Wen family has a medicine that can cure your Peerless Poison."
Li Yin looked at Wen Youqing and smiled, "No need to trouble you, senior brother. I'm not poisoned. I have other matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave." With that, she got up to leave, but stopped as she stepped out of the room and tossed out a bottle of medicine.
Wen Youqing reached out and caught it. Seeing this, he smiled and said, "Li Yin, you haven't changed at all."
After Li Yin walked away, a man emerged from behind the screen. He was dressed in a long red robe. Upon seeing Wen Youqing's appearance, he couldn't help but laugh and said, "Hahaha, Wen Youqing, how did you end up in such a sorry state? Your old friend is truly a remarkable person, remarkable indeed, absolutely remarkable."
Upon hearing this, Wen Youqing removed his bamboo hat, looked at Zhu Nanren, and his gaze turned cold. He gently wiped the blood from his lips and said, "What, you like it too?"
Zhu Nanren's smile froze as he said, "What are you talking about? How could I possibly be interested in her? I just think she's a really interesting person. She doesn't act like a refined lady but rather a village girl. She has a heart that wants to help and save people, yet she acts like a villain."
Wen Youqing lowered her gaze, then smiled softly as if she had thought of something.
Seeing his expression, Zhu Nanren let out a soft "Eh." It was truly astounding. This man, who always laughed like that, was usually meant to torment people, but this time it was for a girl.
Zhu Nanren was greatly shocked. He gently shook his folding fan and said, "If that wonderful person knew your true character, do you think she would still be so polite to you?"
He said this casually, but Wen Youqing frowned slightly and looked at him with hostility. He said slowly, "What you said makes sense, but aren't you the only one who knows my secret?"
Zhu Nanren suddenly sensed something was wrong and was about to climb out the window when a pill flew into his mouth. The taste of the medicine filled his mouth, and Zhu Nanren covered his mouth with one hand, saying, "You...you're so heartless! What kind of relationship do we have? Is this really necessary?"
Upon hearing this, Wen Youqing raised an eyebrow and said, "As for this game, I've been playing it for eight years. I can't let it be ruined because of you."
