Wrongfully imprisoned
Li Yin said, "Would I harm you because of this?"
He pondered for a moment and said, "Isn't that possible? Among everyone here, whose background is worse than yours? You're just jealous."
Li Yin laughed upon hearing this, and said, "Then why didn't I harm you before, but only now?"
She smiled and said, "Isn't it just that the time isn't right yet? You're a smart person, you'll naturally choose a good time."
Li Yin nodded upon hearing this, and said, "You are a smart person too."
You're talking about yourself, aren't you? The timing was perfect, the location was ideal, Emperor Yingzong was present, it was a small room, and the person you were having sex with had a decent appearance.
As she listened to Li Yin's words, her eyes reddened. She deliberately raised her hand to cover her face, causing her clothes to slip down and reveal her fair shoulders to everyone.
Her fair shoulders only made the red marks stand out even more, showing just how explosive what had just happened.
Those nearby turned their heads away when they saw this. The women blushed, while the men looked to the other side. Everyone was silent, but someone would suddenly speak up.
Zhao Lianying deliberately exclaimed, her tone tinged with curiosity, "Oh my, what... what's that on your shoulder, sister?"
Upon hearing this, Chen Si froze for a moment, then cried even louder, clutching her clothes and sobbing silently with her head down.
Upon seeing this, Li Yin lowered his eyes and looked at it. The mark was so conspicuous that anyone with even a little knowledge of such things would understand it at a glance.
Lost in thought, her voice trembling with tears, she said, "Li Yin...you're the one who ruined me. You told me my handkerchief was here, and tricked me into coming here..."
At this point, she became even more agitated, pointing a trembling finger at Li Yin. She said, "It was...you who pushed me into the house, and then they...they did this to me..."
As she spoke, her voice grew softer and softer until it faded away, leaving only a few sobs.
She cried bitterly, her head bowed, tears streaming down her cheeks and falling gently to the ground, splashing up dust.
Her slightly thin shoulders trembled slightly as she looked up at Emperor Yingzong.
Emperor Yingzong frowned slightly and raised his hand to indicate his intention.
Li Changde quickly stepped forward, bowed, and said, "Miss Chen, don't be sad. His Majesty will surely uphold justice for you."
Upon hearing this, she stopped crying, looked up at Li Changde, and respectfully kowtowed, saying, "Father-in-law, please do justice for me."
Li Changde simply smiled, straightened up, looked at the two men kneeling to the side, and called out to them, "Come here."
The two men were then taken away by the guards and roughly thrown to the ground, their faces covered in dust.
Even the most beautiful faces can't withstand this; their hair was disheveled and covered in dust, making them look quite pathetic.
Seeing this, Chen Si glanced at it indifferently and then lowered his head again.
Li Changde asked, "Why did you do such a thing here?"
The two men exchanged a glance, then looked at Li Changde. One of them then spoke up, "Yes, yes... it was Miss Li who asked me to wait here."
Li Changde narrowed his eyes and questioned, "How dare you frame me!"
Upon hearing this, the two men exclaimed, "We did not say anything wrong. We are just lowly people, each with a worthless life. How could we dare to deceive the emperor? It was indeed Miss Li who made the decision. We have evidence."
As soon as he finished speaking, the man presented what he was holding: a beautifully carved white jade object, which was... the Wen Family Jade Token.
Li Yin was also taken aback when she saw this. Wen Youqing had given her this thing that day, but she hadn't taken it at all.
Wen Lan frowned slightly upon seeing this, and looked up at Wen Youqing.
Wen Youqing also frowned.
Li Changde presented the items to Emperor Yingzong of Ming. He took them, rubbed them in his hands, and then looked at Wen Youqing.
He said, "The Li family woman has implicated someone and caused them to lose their innocence; she should be imprisoned immediately."
Wen Youqing stepped forward, about to argue, but Wen Lan raised her hand to block him. She lowered her voice, leaned closer, and said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Is she more important, or is the entire Wen family more important?"
Wen Youqing pushed him away without hesitation. Wen Lan was anxious when she couldn't stop him, but she caught a glimpse of the sword on the guard's body out of the corner of her eye. She reached out, twisted her wrist, and pulled the sword out with a backhand.
With a flash of cold light, the longsword was drawn, and Wen Lan immediately held it to Wen Youqing's neck.
Both of them were behind Emperor Yingzong, and their movements were quite large, stirring up a breeze.
Most of the people around were outside the courtyard, while those inside looked towards the one deep in thought. Wen Youqing stood in an inconspicuous corner of the courtyard. Those who happened to see her would only glance at her briefly before turning their heads away as if nothing had happened, and then immediately lower their heads, not daring to say a word.
Zhao Lianying smiled as she looked directly at Li Yin. She had already prepared her defense for Chen Si, but Li Yin's next words made her laugh.
Li Yin saw what was happening on Wen Youqing's side. Her pupils trembled slightly, and she finally lowered her eyes to hide the emotions in them. She knelt down and said neither humbly nor arrogantly, "Li Yin, I confess my sins."
Silence fell instantly. Wen Youqing reached out and grasped the sword. With a "crack," the sword shattered, and blood dripped from between her fingers, falling to the ground like blooming flowers—a truly alluring sight.
All of this happened behind Emperor Yingzong, but he seemed oblivious to it, never turning around, only looking at Li Yin's eyes and brows.
He raised his hand and ordered his men to take Li Yin away.
Wen Lan sheathed her sword, and Wen Youqing stood still. He watched as Li Yin was taken away, the blood gushing from his hands seemingly not his own. His expression remained unchanged, showing no concern.
Emperor Yingzong turned around, and Wen Youqing also turned around; both of them looked at Wen Lan.
Wen Youqing's eyes were filled with hatred as she looked at Wen Lan, but Emperor Ming Yingzong's eyes were full of tenderness, and she smiled upon seeing this.
She walked gently to Wen Youqing's side and said, "Young Master Wen, I didn't mean to touch your hand just now. I hope you won't hold it against me."
Wen Youqing said, "Of course not."
Upon hearing this, Emperor Yingzong looked at Wen Youqing and asked, "Minister Wen, are you injured? Do you need an imperial physician?"
Wen Youqing turned around and smiled respectfully at Emperor Yingzong, saying, "Your Majesty need not worry. It's just a minor injury, nothing to worry about."
Upon hearing this, Emperor Yingzong glanced at Wen Youqing's bleeding hand and said to Li Changde, "Send Wen Aiqing to get it treated."
Li Changde smiled and said to Wen Youqing, "Young Master Wen, please." He then gestured for her to proceed.
Wen Youqing followed, the two walking at a distance from each other, taking a path opposite to Li Yin's.
Li Yin was escorted to a prison cell.
A black, rusty lock connected to a large iron chain kept the door firmly shut.
The guard opened the door and pushed Li Yin inside. Li Yin pretended to fall and knelt on the ground.
Her green skirt was stained with dust, but Li Yin's back remained straight. She looked around and saw a square area with only an iron window in the upper right corner.
The shadows of the trees swayed, the wind rustled the sand, and a ray of light quietly fell upon Li Yin.
She stood up, glanced at the shadow of the tree, and then lowered her eyes.
She acted impulsively just now, but... if she asks His Majesty to investigate, will His Majesty investigate?
I'm afraid not. To put it bluntly, someone wants to use her to restrain the Wen family. The Wen family's jade token appeared out of nowhere, which is suspicious.
If we examine the matter closely, there must be a reason, but... it involves too many things.
Thinking about it this way, I felt a little guilty. Was it because of her that the Wen family was implicated?
She was uncertain, with countless possible answers swirling in her mind, but she managed to grasp the one that was related to her, even though the probability was very small.
What's wrong with her?
Do you really like Wen Youqing?
She didn't know, and didn't want to know.
She closed her eyes and stopped thinking about it. If she was really the one who caused this, she would use this as an excuse to get rid of herself, change her identity, investigate the case herself, and eliminate those people one by one.
Those in high positions of power are easily targeted, while those with little power and influence are easily bullied.
A gentle breeze swept by, dust clinging to the hem of her skirt. As her sleeves fluttered, the wind softly lifted Li Yin's hair. Li Yin looked up at the heavily locked door.
Now, how can she escape?
As she was thinking, she heard a series of slightly hurried footsteps, which grew faster and faster, but also lighter and lighter.
Li Yin took a few steps forward, slowing her breathing, afraid she wouldn't hear the footsteps. She deliberately lowered her head and turned to listen, but suddenly she caught a glimpse of a pair of familiar white shoes out of the corner of her eye. She turned her head and saw a person suddenly appear in front of her.
She looked at the man, and he looked at her too. "Why are you here?" Li Yin asked.
Yu Ling was wearing the same green dress as Li Yin, but without any dust on her clothes. Upon hearing this, she raised an eyebrow and said, "Can't I come?"
Li Yin said, "Didn't you abandon me and leave? Right on our wedding day, right under everyone's noses, you really ran away quickly."
She spoke the second half of her sentence slowly and deliberately, her words tinged with emotion.
Upon hearing this, Yu Ling coughed awkwardly. She looked at her guiltily and said, "The Wen family mansion is heavily guarded. I had no choice. He won't kill you, but he will kill me."
Upon hearing this, Li Yin frowned slightly and asked, "Do you know that she can distinguish between you and me?"
Yu Ling was slightly surprised. She said, "You didn't know?"
Li Yin fell silent. Wen Youqing had never asked, and she had never asked Wen Youqing either, assuming he didn't know. But she never expected that he actually knew these things.
Li Yin always felt that Wen Youqing knew more than she did, but this feeling was inexplicable, like water without roots, coming out of nowhere without any basis.
After pondering for a moment, Li Yin asked again, "What are you doing here?"
Yu Ling said, "Naturally, it's because you're in jail that I've come here to see how you came up with such a despicable method to ruin someone's reputation."
Li Yin truthfully replied, "It wasn't me."
Yu Ling nodded and said, "I also think it's not you, so I wanted to help you."
"Help me?" Li Yin raised an eyebrow upon hearing this. The moment she saw Yu Ling in the capital, she knew that this person also had things she didn't know, but he just didn't want to say them.
Yu Ling's next words directly confirmed this: "My master wants to see you."
Li Yin asked, "Who is your master?"
Yu Ling said, "You'll know when you get there."
