The next day after court, Yinzhen hurried out of the palace, with Thirteen chasing after him. "Hey, wait, Fourth Brother, what's the rush? I have something to discuss with you."
"Yes, the government says so."
When the two brothers arrived at the palace gate, they happened to meet the eighth, ninth, tenth, and third brothers, who greeted each other.
"Are you brothers going back to the manor?" Thirteen asked with a smile.
“No, my tenth brother wants to go to Jishetang, and my eighth brother and I are going to Huikeju for drinks, so it's on our way,” said the ninth prince.
Thirteen asked with suspicion, "Tenth Brother, is someone in the manor sick? Why don't you go and invite the imperial physician to take a look?"
The tenth brother's face flushed slightly, and he seemed quite uncomfortable, unsure of how to respond.
The Ninth Prince laughed heartily, "Look at you, you're still embarrassed." He pointed at the Tenth Brother and said to his brothers with a smile, "It's all because of the Tenth Brother's wife. She was injured some time ago, and he wanted to go to Jishetang to buy some special contraceptive pills to take."
"Ninth Brother, Zhenzhen has injured her body. The imperial physician said she cannot conceive for a year. The medicine from Jishetang was also recommended by the imperial physician. I..."
"Alright, alright, I know you care about Zhenzhen. You don't need to argue. Look, I'm just putting aside my pride to come with you." Ninth Prince interrupted him with a smile.
"Tenth Brother and Tenth Sister-in-law have such a good relationship," Thirteen exclaimed enviously.
"Oh, Thirteenth Prince is missing his wife. Don't worry, you'll be soon too," the Tenth Prince teased him.
Thirteenth Brother smiled generously without any hesitation, clasped his hands in a fist salute to his brothers, and said, "I will have to rely on you all then."
"Of course, of course," the Ninth Prince and the Tenth Prince said with a smile, returning the greeting with clasped hands.
The Fourth Prince and the Eighth Prince watched the group laughing and joking. The Fourth Prince walked up to the Eighth Prince and said, "Let's go together. The roast duck made at the Ninth Brother's restaurant is fragrant, crispy, and delicious. Your Fourth Sister-in-law also praised it highly. I'll go and bring two back to the manor."
“My younger brother has also tried it, and it is indeed quite good. Fourth Brother, since we’ve met, how about we have a drink together?” the Eighth Prince invited.
"It's rare for Eighth Brother to speak, please."
After hearing what his two older brothers said, Thirteen grabbed his two older brothers beside him and said, "Let's go, let's go have a drink."
In Wanyue Pavilion, Nan Yi was playing in the snow in the courtyard and caught a chill. Qingyun brought ginger soup, which Nan Yi drank while pinching her nose, looking disgusted. "With my constitution, do I need it? I'll just warm up in bed later."
Qingyun looked helpless. "Master, drinking ginger soup is better than taking medicine. Granny Zhao was afraid you wouldn't like it, so she specially prepared pineapple cakes. Try them to get rid of the taste."
"Greetings to Your Highness, may Your Highness be blessed." Yiren greeted him from outside. Nan Yi took a bite of pineapple cake, heard the voice, stood up, and walked outside.
Yinzhen waved his hand, his expression slightly cold, and said to Nan Yi, "Come here."
Nan Yi asked, "What's wrong? Who upset you again?" He looked constipated; she didn't seem to have upset him recently.
Yinzhen ordered the servants waiting outside the door, "Come in and search the place thoroughly, leaving no place unsearched."
"Yes, ma'am." The four old nannies responded and entered the inner room.
Nan Yi and Qingyun exchanged glances, Nan Yi frowning, not understanding what Fourth Master was up to now.
"You all wait outside," Yinzhen ordered Qingyun Yiren.
Qingyun and Yiren left the room, completely bewildered.
Yinzhen stood with his hands behind his back in the room, watching the four old nannies search the room. Nan Yi didn't know what he was doing and could only watch helplessly.
Yiren couldn't understand what her master meant, so she quickly ran to find Granny Qiu to discuss it.
Looking for something?
"Yes, Granny, the four old nannies that Master brought came into the room and searched without saying a word. I don't understand what Master is doing. What does he want to search for?"
Granny Qiu's heart skipped a beat, a sense of unease welled up within her, and her expression changed drastically. "Oh no, come with me quickly."
Granny Qiu threw down the embroidery frame in her hand and ran towards the master's main room.
"Oh dear, Granny, what is it?" Yiren called out anxiously from behind, "Granny?"
Granny Qiu had no time to explain to her that the women in the inner courtyard had many tricks up their sleeves, and it was impossible to guard against them all. No matter how clever she was, she was still a girl with little experience and limited knowledge.
Having spent over a decade in the palace, how many insidious and unpleasant methods had she witnessed that left people speechless and bitter?
She and Yiren Qingyun would inspect their master's room every three days, making sure every corner was spotless and there were no foreign objects inside.
What I'm afraid of is...
Inside the room, four matrons were carefully searching the bed. The one checking the bed turned around and saw that the two masters were staring at each other and not paying attention to her. She quickly put the things in her sleeves under the pillow.
She pretended to search around the bed, and when she lifted the pillow, the old woman exclaimed in surprise, patting her chest.
Nan Yi and Yinzhen looked over together, and the old woman stepped aside.
Yinzhen hurried forward to examine it. He picked up the black object, his face ashen, his eyes filled with deep gloom.
Nan Yi looked completely bewildered. "What is this?"
There was something hidden in her room that she didn't know about. This morning, Granny Qiu had checked the room, and she hadn't seen it.
Could it be Granny Qiu or the others...? No, impossible. Granny Qiu wouldn't harm her, and she trusts Qingyun and Yiren. Who put it there? Could it be that someone sneaked into the room?
Completely unaware of the impending doom, Nan Yi watched as Yinzhen bewilderedly performed a series of strange actions, like a bystander.
Yinzhen glared at the woman in the room. "Imperial Physician, come in here."
"Yes." A royal physician bowed his head and lifted the curtain to enter the inner room.
Yinzhen handed him what he was holding. "Tell me, what is this?"
The imperial physician took it and examined it for a while. Then he put it to his nose and smelled it. Suddenly, his expression changed and he knelt down.
Can you identify what it is?
The imperial physician looked rather troubled. He glanced at the maids in the room but dared not speak.
"You may all leave," Yinzhen waved to the nannies.
"Yes," the maids replied in unison.
Outside the door, Granny Qiu and Qingyun Yiren waited anxiously. Once the four searching women emerged, Granny Qiu instructed Yiren, "Keep a close eye on them. Find out if they've had contact with any master. Spending a little more money is fine."
Yiren nodded repeatedly after hearing this. After thinking for a moment, she called to a little maid beside her and told her to quickly inform Xiaoshunzi for help.
"Get out of the way!" Yinzhen roared angrily, his eyes glaring coldly at the woman in the room who was still pretending to be innocent.
He hated her to the extreme, yet his heart ached as if it were being torn apart. He abandoned his wives and concubines in the backyard and doted on her the most in his heart. Because she said she wanted a child, he would spend all his free time with her, disregarding ancestral rules and allowing her to come and go freely in the study.
And how did she repay him?
The aura emanating from Yinzhen grew increasingly terrifying. The imperial physician, wiping the cold sweat from his forehead, rushed out of the inner room in a panic. Nan Yi was startled by his sudden rage.
Avoiding the peach tree? What the hell? She heard the imperial physician's words but didn't understand them.
Nan Yi racked her brains but couldn't figure out why there would be things soaked in contraceptive in her room.
She doesn't mind being pregnant, and whether she's pregnant or not doesn't affect her ability to make a move.
