The old nanny, though old, knew that winning hearts was the best strategy. She kept nagging about how good, how valuable, and how rare the items were, especially the silk brocades and gauzes that the master had brought back this time. She said they were scarce, dazzling, and lightweight, and would be cool and sweat-free to wear in the summer.
Granny Qiu went on and on for more than half an hour, making Nan's eyes sparkle, and he felt cool and refreshed without breaking a sweat.
Yes, it is indeed rare and precious. She was terrified of the summers of the Qing Dynasty and even more envious of those rare treasures she had never even heard of.
Nan sat on the bed in a daze. Perhaps, if she hated him, she should kill him a few times. Granny Qiu was absolutely right. Why should others benefit from this?
Granny Qiu's original intention was to persuade her mistress to apologize to the master, coax him, and win his heart. Whatever she wanted, it was just a matter of a word.
Nan Yi, however, decided to take an unconventional approach and, eager to prove herself, decided to sneak into the Fourth Prince's private storeroom at night.
At midnight, most of the people in the mansion were already fast asleep. Nan Yi pushed open the door, glanced around, and saw no one.
She secretly slipped out of the room. This was the time when the secret guards changed shifts. Nan Yi had already planned it out and found out the location of Yinzhen's storeroom early in the morning.
She planned to sneak over quietly. The mansion had many artificial hills and winding corridors, so she only needed to avoid the patrolling guards. Wanyue Pavilion was close to Yinzhen's residence, and it would be her destination in less than a quarter of an hour.
Finding the inner warehouse was easy, but when Nan Yi approached it, he found that there were guards outside all the time. He was immediately discouraged. There were too many people, and he couldn't find a way to sneak in. He would have to think about it again.
Returning empty-handed, she found nothing.
It got even darker, and the few lanterns that had been lit just moments before all went out. Nan Yi groped his way forward, stumbling along the dark path.
"Huh, what's that?" She seemed to have bumped into a wall. She raised her hand to reach out, "Hiss—" Just as she was about to kick the person's lower body, she was suddenly pulled into someone's arms.
Nan was startled. Oh no! He couldn't tell if they were friend or foe, and he couldn't make a sound. He couldn't break free, so in his panic, he stretched out his five claws and grabbed the soft flesh of the person's waist.
"Hiss—" A similarly deep inhale, a cool breath approached, and before she could react, her lips were already being bitten hard.
Nan Yi tasted a hint of sweetness and fishiness on her tongue. Just as she was about to bite back, she heard a few deep words in her ear, "Come to the study with me." The sound, coming out between her teeth, had a sense of settling scores after the fact.
Holy crap, Fourth Uncle, it's been four months since we last met. How come she was caught right at the gate of the courtyard?
He hadn't seen any of the rare treasures in the private treasury, and it would be incredibly embarrassing for him to be caught red-handed. Filled with regret, Nan Yi was dragged along by Yinzhen, with Yinzhen's taut arm wrapped around his waist.
Yinzhen led her forward quickly. He had already moved the guards away, and there would be no one on the way from here to the study.
We finally caught her.
From the moment she slipped out of the courtyard gate, her every move was observed by him. This little mouse, though he didn't know what she was doing running out, at least he saw her, and his constant worry about her was finally put to rest.
That time in Suzhou, she got jealous for no reason and said something that angered him, but she was inexplicably happy. After returning home, she hid in the courtyard and wouldn't come out.
Upon closer examination, it becomes clear that her behavior stemmed from jealousy, and Yinzhen's heart was filled with sweetness.
The moment he figured it out, he wanted to see her, desperately wanted to see her.
When she refused to come out, he sent people to spread rumors and then stayed in the study. Unexpectedly, this woman was ruthless and patient for four whole months.
He couldn't sleep at night even after four days without seeing her, and after four months, he had been longing for her. Thinking of this, he pulled her even closer to him, determined to settle accounts with her later.
Outside the study, Su Peishu stood guard alone. When he saw his master catch someone, he smiled slightly, opened the door for them, and then quickly closed it again.
Eunuch Su stretched his limbs, easing the tension on his face that had been building up day after day. He sighed inwardly, "It hasn't been easy. I can finally breathe a sigh of relief now."
As soon as Nan Yi entered the study, Yinzhen dragged him and threw him onto the small couch behind the screen.
She groaned softly and complained in a low voice, "Can't you be a little gentler? What did I do to offend you, sir?"
Yinzhen's expression was unreadable. He stared intently at her face, her beautiful eyes sparkling, her brows furrowed, her delicate nose slightly wrinkled, her red lips pursed, and stray strands of hair falling over her eyes. He tried to brush them away for her, but she pushed him away roughly.
He silently withdrew his hand, looking from her hair to her toes. He was finally certain that she was doing well, her skin was even more radiant, and perhaps she had been startled by his earlier actions, as the blush on her face had not yet faded.
He leaned closer, wanting to rub his face against hers.
Nan Yi stepped back, his eyes wide, and asked, "What are you doing?"
He smiled softly, without saying a word, and reached for his neck, slowly unbuttoning his clothes. The movement was very slow, and Nan Yi watched in horror, stepping back to the wall, trembling slightly with fear. Yinzhen's eyes darkened, and he quickened his pace in unbuttoning his clothes.
When he stood naked in front of the bed, his lean and strong body taut with muscles, Nan Yi saw a fierce green light in his eyes, which reminded her of that night when he bit her until she was covered in blood. She was in excruciating pain but couldn't escape. Her eyes narrowed, and she instantly got up and dodged to the side.
As if he had expected this, Yinzhen suddenly pounced on her, grabbed her waving hands, pulled her back into his arms, and whispered, "Still trying to hide?"
"No, no, I didn't dodge." Feeling the hand around her waist tighten, Nan Yi whispered, her lips trembling, "You...you can't bite me."
He was taken aback. Bite her? He thought she was resisting him.
He suddenly laughed; it turned out...
Nan Yi leaned against the ground, her chest trembling slightly, and a soft laugh escaped her lips. Yinzhen pulled her down to lie on the ground, asking, "What are you doing in the inner treasury?"
"Just browsing, ouch—damn it, wasn't it supposed to not bite?"
Yinzhen said calmly, "The punishment for lying is that I don't like to hear lies, so you'd better tell the truth."
"Just browsing, you cheapskate, ugh—"
"I can bite harder."
Nan shrank back and muttered softly, "I want to find something I like, but I'm afraid you won't give it to me, so I thought I might as well go by myself. Anyway, what's yours is mine." She spoke with a little lack of confidence, and her voice trailed off at the end.
Yinzhen gritted his teeth on her shoulder. Seeing that she was trembling violently, he kissed her soothingly. "I've given you enough. When have I ever refused you anything you want? Take it yourself? I think you've lost your mind. The inner storehouse is not only guarded outside, but it also has traps inside. If you're not careful, you'll lose your life."
"Ah, there's a mechanism too. What treasure did you hide inside?" Nan Yi put her paw on his waist, her eyes sparkling.
"If I'm satisfied with your performance, I might take you to see it."
"..." Nan Yi was speechless, her mind wavering between selling her beauty and treasures. She patted the person on top of her, "Get off me first, let me think."
Yinzhen held her tightly, his grip tightening, and said slowly, "Alright, I'll wait." He reached out and pulled the blanket over them both, holding one of her hands, waiting for her to understand.
The person is right in front of you, and the meat will be eaten sooner or later, so there's no point in having a party.
"Pour me a cup of tea; my dinner was too salty," Nan Yi said again.
Yinzhen hesitated for a moment, then got off the bed, poured her tea, and waited for her to drink it while he quietly waited for her to think.
