"Is this true?" Yinzhen's gaze suddenly turned cold.
Yiren knelt on the ground, her voice trembling, and said, "This servant dares not lie, Your Highness is wise."
"Bang!" Yinzhen slammed his fist on the desk and roared, "This is outrageous!"
The master was furious, and Su Peisheng and Yiren were so frightened that they fell silent, not daring to utter a sound.
A surge of rage rose within Yinzhen, and he shouted at Su Peisheng, who was standing to the side, "What are you still standing there for? Go and summon Physician Wu immediately."
Su Peisheng shuddered. "Yes, sir." He turned and ran out of the study.
"Wait, I'll go myself." Yinzhen suddenly changed his mind, barely suppressing his anger, and turned to go to the outer courtyard.
The divine physician learned from the Fourth Prince that Consort Tong's condition was caused by traditional Chinese medicine, but he dared not prescribe an antidote lightly, as he had not yet figured out what kind of medicine Consort Tong had been given.
After Nan Yi returned from the palace, Yinzhen, fearing something might have happened to her, forced her to stay in bed and rest. After sleeping for a while, she found that her body was acting strangely. Her mind was very sluggish, she felt dizzy, lightheaded, and nauseous.
"Yiren, I feel unwell, please fetch some cool water," Nan called to Yiren, who was fanning her.
"Alright, Master, please wait a moment." Yiren put down her fan and went to fetch some cool water. She brought the water into the room, where Nan Yi was already unconscious.
"Master, what's wrong?" She put down her bowl and shook Nan Yi's shoulder, but Nan Yi didn't react.
"Master, Master?" Yiren's expression changed, and she shouted at the top of her lungs, "Someone, someone come quickly, something bad has happened to Master."
The servants were coming and going, and the room was in a state of chaos.
When Yinzhen and Physician Wu entered the hospital, they heard Yiren's heart-wrenching cries. Most of the servants were unaware of what had happened to Consort Tong. They saw Yinzhen's face was ashen, and they all knelt on the ground.
Worried that the unknown drug in Consort Tong's body might be taking effect, Doctor Wu rushed to the bedside and took Consort Tong's pulse.
Everyone held their breath, and after a moment, Yinzhen anxiously asked, "Divine Physician, how is she?"
The martial arts doctor silently shook his head. "Consort Tong's pulse is very bad, slow and weak. This medicine is somewhat like the Soul-Snatching Powder that has been lost in the martial arts world for a long time, but it is not easy to cure."
He sighed softly and said, "Those who take this medicine become confused and act like idiots. However, normally, this medicine does not harm the body. Ordinary people and those with strong wills can recover after a month or so. But Consort Tong is not in good health. I'm afraid that even if she survives, she will suffer from aftereffects. The best solution now is for Your Highness to obtain the antidote in time. If I were to develop the antidote myself, it would take at least three days."
Upon hearing this, Yinzhen clenched his fists so tightly they cracked, his face turned ashen, and his eyes flashed with a chilling light. He decided to go to the palace to ask Consort Liang for an antidote, but that method would not work.
Since Consort Liang has already made the decision, she must have made thorough preparations. If he rashly enters the palace, he will likely be charged with the serious crime of slandering a palace concubine.
After the Emperor reinstated the Crown Prince, he bestowed great favors upon all the princes and ministers, but the Eighth Prince received nothing. Consort Liang may not have been without resentment.
His title of Prince Yong of the First Rank may seem glamorous, but in reality, he walks on a knife's edge at every step.
Yinzhen gazed at the unconscious Tong Shi with cold, guilty, and helpless eyes. His nostrils flared rapidly, and the rise and fall of his chest betrayed his inner torment.
The situation in the court was becoming increasingly unpredictable, and he could no longer understand his father's thoughts.
He couldn't just go along with the mistake; the clearer he saw things, the less he could take the next step.
After a long silence, he decided against further difficulties. He slowly calmed himself down, ordered the servants in the room to leave, and said, "Divine Physician, I cannot obtain the antidote. I beg you to develop the antidote as soon as possible. The poison in her body will be yours."
The martial arts doctor was unaware of the man's predicament, but he did as he was told.
Nan Yi fell into a deep sleep for a full six hours. When she woke up the next day, she called Yinzhen "Little Senior Brother," but then she felt something was wrong and muttered, "Wait a minute, Little Senior Brother doesn't seem this old."
She shoved Yinzhen, "Who are you? What are you doing in my room? Where is my junior brother? Quickly find my junior brother."
"Yi'er, stop making a fuss, it's me." Yinzhen pressed down on her body as she tried to get up.
"Master, who is Master?" Nan Yi cupped his face, looking him up and down. "He does look a bit like that arrogant Fourth Master."
She suddenly tilted her head and thought for a moment, then started crying like a child, "I don't want Fourth Uncle, he's a bad guy, I want to go home, I don't want to stay here."
As she cried, she started calling Yiren's name again.
She was crying and laughing, acting crazy, which made Yinzhen sweat with anxiety. It was only after Yiren brought her some pastries that she calmed her down.
After making a scene for a while, she got tired, went back to sleep, and then started acting up again when she woke up.
Every time Yinzhen saw this, his heart ached terribly, yet he was helpless.
The day after Nan Yi took the medicine, Yin Tang received the news and came to visit her, only to be blocked by Yin Zhen in the outer courtyard.
It would have been inappropriate for Yinzhen to come and visit Nan Yi so abruptly, so he kept a low profile, observed proper etiquette, and spoke respectfully, "Fourth Brother, I heard that Sister-in-law Tong is ill. I wonder if she is feeling better?"
Yinzhen originally wanted to lash out, but then he thought that his ninth brother was on good terms with his eighth brother, and that he might be able to help.
Although the Divine Physician is developing an antidote, he cannot afford to gamble with Yi'er's poison if he fails.
He glanced coldly at the Ninth Prince, snorted, and said, "Come with me." Yinzhen bowed slightly and said yes.
Upon entering the Orchid Courtyard, Nan Yi was playing hide-and-seek with Yi Ren. Unable to find Yi Ren's hiding place, he pouted and started to cry.
Yiren was so frightened that she quickly ran out to comfort her.
Yinzhen was utterly shocked. Nan Yi… “Fourth Brother, what happened to her?”
Yinzhen did not answer him, his gaze remained fixed on Nan Yi, and when he noticed the dust on her clothes, he raised his hand to brush it off for her.
