Chapter Twelve: The First Signs of Turmoil

Then I noticed she was quite pretty, with fair skin, a slender waist, and long legs. Her clothes were also nice, but... well, they didn't seem to fit her very well. Looking at the other maids' clothes, they were all wearing the same long-sleeved cheongsams with vests over them, only slightly different colors.

Because it was hot today, Qingyun and Nanyi had been running around all morning. They were tired and hot, so they took off their vests and wore only cheongsams.

Nan Yi had a sudden realization: her own clothes seemed to be like that too; the outer robes were all straight-cut, and you couldn't tell her waistline when she wore them.

"Qingyun, come here."

Qingyun rushed to her side and saw that her master seemed to be deep in thought. Her heart skipped a beat. What was her master planning to do now? Good heavens, let her catch her breath.

Seeing that she was really exhausted, Nan felt a little embarrassed and gestured to Yiren, who then handed Qingyun a glass of water.

After Qingyun quenched her thirst, Nan asked her to stand next to her. Nan gestured with her hand around Qingyun's waist. Qingyun glanced at Yiren, wondering what her mistress was doing. Yiren raised an eyebrow, wondering who knew.

Nan Yi thought to herself, "As expected." She pinched the loose parts of her body again. The bust and waist were not fitted. Even the best figure was buried. The original body had a very good figure, with a prominent bust and buttocks, a slim waist and long legs, but the clothes could not show it off, which was really a pity.

Thinking this, Nan Yi said to Yiren, "Yiren, go and move all my new clothes here, just the long robes. Also, gather all the maids who are good at needlework here, I have something to do." Yiren thought to herself, "My master is going to make trouble again," but she still did as she was told.

When Nan Yi saw the pile of clothes in front of her, she was dumbfounded. Did she really have that many clothes? That's extravagant!

Seeing the surprise in his master's eyes, he smiled and said, "Master, this is only a small portion that has been taken to the villa. There are still most of the portions in the manor that have not been touched."

The mistress's family was wealthy, and her dowry was generous, including many of the finest satins that were rare in the market. Qingfeng, the head maid in charge of the storeroom, worried that the fabrics could not be stored for long, so she tried her best to make clothes for the mistress every season. In addition, there were the seasonal allowances for the household and the rewards from nobles in the palace, so there were naturally many clothes available.

Nan Yi was stunned. This was only a small part; these were female tycoons.

She rummaged through the clothes, which came in all sorts of colors. "Yiren, please make sure my clothes are mainly light-colored from now on, with dark colors as secondary colors." She had a lot of clothes, but she wasn't very satisfied with any of them; the colors and patterns weren't quite right.

Then she stood up, turned around, and looked at the maids, saying, "Don't you think my clothes are inappropriate?" Everyone shook their heads, saying that all the masters' clothes were like this.

Seeing their puzzled looks, Nan Yi used a needle to fasten the loose parts of her waist, walked around again, and looked at everyone: "How is it?" The people were still puzzled, but Yi Ren carefully compared and said: "It seems that you walk more gracefully."

Nan Yi gave Yi Ren an approving look, "A clever girl, just for that insight, I will reward you."

Yiren burst into laughter. She had only asked tentatively and had been kept in the dark.

"Quickly, alter it to my waistline now, and also here on top," she said impatiently. After Yiren finished altering it, Nan Yi tried it on and walked out. Everyone was amazed. It must be said, her waist swayed gracefully as she walked, like a willow in the wind, which was very charming.

"Yiren, Qingyun, later you two get some suitable material and make me another one in this style. If it's good, then we'll do it this way from now on."

"Yes, Madam," both of them were delighted. Madam was more charming, and if their master liked her, they would have a bright future.

(Money-grubbing is contagious).

Nan Yi walked alone with a cat-like gait, imagining herself walking onto the stage amidst the spotlight, then strolling leisurely in the garden.

When Yinzhen arrived, he only saw a group of maids, young and old, bustling about and laughing, but he couldn't see the main character. After the maids finished their greetings with trepidation, Yiren mustered up her courage and got up to say that the Fujin was admiring the flowers in the garden.

After Yinzhen left, everyone stood up and cheered. Huan'er was the first to smile and say, "Master, you came at just the right time." Qingyun tapped her and then rubbed her. Indeed, it was just the right time.

Yinzhen strolled slowly into the garden and saw a beautiful woman standing alone amidst the blooming flowers. As he approached, he saw Tong Shi, dressed in pink, bending down, closing her eyes, and gently smelling the lilies in full bloom. Her long eyelashes trembled slightly, and a few specks of pollen clung to the tip of her nose.

For some reason, Yinzhen felt a pang of jealousy towards the flower, especially considering its appearance towards him... His body tensed instantly, and his blood surged.

His thoughts were still lingering on the beautiful scenery before him, but his body had already taken action. His left hand reached out to embrace Tong Shi, while his right hand was about to touch the pollen on the tip of her nose.

A flowerpot-shaped kick suddenly came at him. He raised his hand to block it, took a few steps back, and angrily said, "How dare you!"

The beautiful scene vanished instantly with her rough actions. Had she become addicted to kicking? Where did she get the guts? This is how the Tong family teaches their daughter.

Nan Yi withdrew her foot and heard a familiar voice. She couldn't help but purse her lips. She always appeared out of nowhere. What happened just now was purely a physical reflex. Whenever they met, she would say that Nan Yi was presumptuous or bold. Couldn't she use a different line?

"Who knew it was your grandpa? He didn't even say hello. What if he's a lecherous scoundrel?"

Yinzhen's face darkened, and his eyebrows rose. Don't think he didn't hear; they were close by and spoke loudly. This was his fault for not reminding him.

A lecherous rogue? In broad daylight, doesn't he realize this is a royal residence, heavily guarded? What thief would dare come here? (The author is yelling from the sidelines, "Your concubine has already sneaked out several times!")

The two stared at each other, and Nan Yi remembered that she had not yet paid her respects, so she bowed and greeted him.

Seeing her awkward movements, Yinzhen sighed and rubbed his forehead. Others' bows were pleasing to the eye, but hers were a disaster. Yinzhen waved his hand and said, "My amnesiac little wife, just bear with it."

Once you've brought a woman into your household, you can't simply return her.

Nan Yi followed behind Yinzhen, and the two wandered aimlessly in the garden. She couldn't figure out what he meant. He came without saying a word, and his unsatisfied face made her feel nauseous.

Bored out of her mind, Nan Yi saw some pretty flowers and casually picked them, already holding a large bunch. Yinzhen heard the noise behind him, turned around, saw the flowers in her hand, and looked at her with a hint of disapproval, saying, "Why did you pick these perfectly good flowers?"

She snorted, "Haven't you heard the saying 'Pluck the flower while it's in bloom'?"

Of course he had heard of it. Looking at the beauty before him, Yinzhen's eyes darkened. "When the flower is in bloom, it is time to pluck it," he said with a gentle smile, and asked softly, "Do you like flowers?" If she does, then he would plant more flowers in the Orchid Courtyard in the future.

Nan Yi rolled her eyes at him. Who doesn't like flowers?

Her eyes sparkled, and Yinzhen felt a surge of passion. After losing her memory, Tong Shi's personality changed drastically. She was no longer as gentle as before, but instead became more charming and lovely, capable of both stillness and movement, and constantly stirring up one's heartstrings.

He softened his expression and casually asked, "Do you remember anything?" She couldn't recall the past, which made her seem somewhat unfamiliar to him, making him unable to get close to her. Even though she was his concubine, he didn't know how to approach her.

Nan shook her head. How could she possibly remember? Ever since she saw him go to that kind of place, she had disliked him. This man had a beautiful wife and concubines, yet he was still so restless. He was truly disgusting.

Does she have to endure all this again? Ugh, just thinking about it makes me inexplicably angry. If this were modern times, I would have slapped him away.
