Chapter Forty-Four: Goodbye Xiao Xi

"Xiao Xi?"

"yes"

Xiao Xi was somewhat taken aback, confused and bewildered. Her mind was a bit muddled. What incredible luck that a prince, such a high-ranking figure, would seek her out today, especially with a prince's concubine hiding behind her?

The Ninth Prince was very anxious. He stepped forward and, without beating around the bush, asked directly, "Have you seen Nan Yi?"

"ah?"

"Oh, Nan Yi~" Xiao Xi was taken aback, looking somewhat embarrassed. He was right behind her, but she couldn't say it.

The Ninth Prince narrowed his peach blossom eyes slightly, slowly tapping his palm with his fan, his tone carrying a hint of warning, "Don't tell me you don't know her."

Xiao Xi was just finding an excuse when he heard this, and muttered softly, "I know him... but..."

“It’s just that it’s far away, yet right in front of us,” Nan Yi said, stepping forward.

She stood boldly in front of Xiao Xi, arms crossed, her beautiful eyes fixed on the two of them, her words full of hostility. What did she say? She told him not to look for her, but he went and did something behind her back, and she caught him red-handed.

They managed to find Xiao Xi's house; they're quite capable.

The two men suddenly heard a familiar voice and thought to themselves, "Oh no, we've run into trouble again."

The Ninth Prince was so anxious that he secretly tugged at the Eighth Prince's sleeve, winking and making faces at him, implying that he wanted to break it. The Eighth Prince pulled his sleeve back, frowned and twitched his lips slightly. If his brother couldn't do it, he couldn't even protect himself.

A gentleman's promise is as precious as gold; they treated it like a fart.

The Ninth Prince lowered his handsome face, his eyes darting around. He recalled what happened in the bedroom last time, and today she caught him again. His face turned red and then pale, and the atmosphere became extremely awkward.

The Eighth Prince waved his fan, appearing nonchalant on the surface, but inside he was desperately searching for an excuse.

"You broke your promise, hmph—" Nan Yi gritted her teeth. She had been trying her best to hide it, hoping that her identity would be revealed to them after she left the Fourth Master's backyard.

Who would have thought that they were investigating her background behind the scenes.

Upon hearing this, the Ninth Prince let out an awkward chuckle and frantically unfolded his folding fan.

Xiao Xi couldn't stand it anymore, so he tugged at Nan Yi and gave him a look, telling him not to push his luck.

Nan Yi glanced at her, thinking how charming the handsome man was, and how he was siding with outsiders.

Not wanting to stand at the door any longer, Nan Yizhong relented after a moment, "Xixi, I'll go first, let's talk again next time."

After bidding farewell to Xiao Xi, Nan Yi planned to leave first and then settle accounts with them properly.

"Okay, see you next time," Xiao Xi bowed to the two princes again to say goodbye.

"Wait," the Eighth Prince said, reaching down to take a jade pendant from his waist and handing it to Xiao Qiao as a thank you gift for Xiao Xi's help. Qiao Qiao was at a loss, cleverly avoiding looking at her sister, but instead looking at Nan Yi.

"Put it away," Nan Yi chuckled, the little rascal.

Qiaoqiao whispered thank you, then hid in Xiaoxi's arms and peeked at them.
