Eve of the Transmigration

"Tong Nanyi?"

"Yes."

"Hello, this is XX company. We would like to invite you to join one of our missions. Our intelligence department has conducted a detailed investigation into your life and background, and you are very suitable for this mission. Would you be interested in participating?"

When Nan heard them say that, his heart skipped a beat. He investigated her in detail. If she were an opponent, she wouldn't even know how she died. Everyone in the martial arts world has a few enemies.

"But I want to go home, and I'm also planning to get married, so it might be inconvenient."

The other party smiled confidently and said, "Miss Tong, please don't refuse. Our mission this time is very challenging, and the reward is quite generous. Unless Miss Tong is not confident, it would be a real pity not to do it." The other party's words were full of regret, which made Nan Yi think deeply as well.

Nan Yi considered for a moment and said, "Can you tell me the specifics?"

The other party thought for a moment, looking embarrassed, and said, "I'm sorry, it's not convenient, but I can tell you it's about protecting cultural relics."

Nan Yi was taken aback, thinking to herself, "No wonder. These days, what's the most lucrative thing? The answer is definitely cultural relics." Before she could even process what he was thinking, the other party said again, "After we invite you, we will pay you a portion of the compensation every year. The third-party protected unit will also pay a substantial bonus. After the three-year period, you can choose whether to stay or leave."

Nan Yi hesitated. No one would complain about having too much money, but she had promised her parents that she would go back to get married. "I need to discuss it with my junior brother."

"Is it Qi Lei? He's also among those invited."

"Huh?" Nan Yi was a little stunned. After a moment, she said, "He didn't mention it to me."

"We haven't spoken to him yet."

And so, Nan Yi and her junior brother, two warmongers, boarded the pirate ship.

In recent years, the security of Orchid Garden in Country E has been threatened day and night. The bodyguards with formal training are no longer able to meet the needs, so they have no choice but to transfer experts from the civilian population. After a short training, Nan Yi and his senior brother set off for Country E.

Today marks the second month since Nan Yi arrived in Country E. Nan Yi is on night shift today, from 21:10 to 02:10.

The bodyguards at Lan Garden work in shifts of five hours outside and four hours inside. There are also hidden security personnel throughout the garden, dense infrared surveillance, and cross patrols every ten minutes. The garden is also full of ingenious traps and mechanisms. Even so, it still attracts many thieves to try their luck every year.

Nan Yi still remembers the first time he came here. The butler led them inside to look around. There was a portrait of a lady on the wall. Her eyes looked very familiar. Nan Yi was curious and touched the painting. As soon as his hand touched the painting, it automatically went back to its original position. The wall turned white and the portrait disappeared. Everyone was dumbfounded.

The housekeeper said that all the places in the park where valuables are kept are equipped with traps, otherwise the items would have been stolen.

"Hey, Nan Yi, anything unusual?"

Nan Yi sat in a chair in front of the monitoring equipment, her eyes fixed on the screen in front of her. She was in charge of monitoring the lobby and corridor. The person who greeted her was her colleague Jason, who was on duty with her.

Jason is of Korean and American descent. He has a handsome face and a tall, upright figure. Standing behind her, he makes her look even more petite and delicate. Nan Yi is watching the video intently.

She pointed to the tiny moving black dot on the video and said, "Jason, something seems off here."

Jason leaned closer, his face near her cheek, and they could even feel the temperature of each other's faces. Fortunately, she was so focused on watching that she didn't notice Jason's unusual behavior.

"where?"

“There, the clump of grass in the corridor seems to be moving; it wasn’t originally in this position,” Nan Yi thought of a possibility: could someone have sneaked in…

Nan Yi guessed right; someone had indeed broken into the Orchid Garden. She quickly got up and called for backup, but before she could finish speaking, someone chopped her on the back of the neck with a chop from behind. As she fell to the ground, she vaguely saw Jason's apologetic smile.

She didn't know how long she had been unconscious. When she opened her eyes and swayed as she stood up, she felt a pain in her neck. Nan rubbed the painful spot with one hand and muttered, "Ouch~ it hurts so much."

It really hurt. She shook her head, her vision still blurry. The room was dark, with only the dim yellow light from the corridor flickering. Nan listened carefully and heard a lot of footsteps outside, the sound of an alarm, barking dogs, and someone shouting loudly, "Search carefully, don't let anyone get away."

Nan Yi groped his way to his feet and walked toward the source of the sound. Just as he was about to call for help, a cold, round object pressed against his head.

Her keen senses, honed through years of martial arts training, allowed her to react instantly. Nan Yi cried out in alarm, "Oh no! My life is over! What a terrible fate!"

It felt like an eternity had passed, yet also like only a fleeting moment. Cold sweat broke out, soaking her back. Instinctively, she raised her hands, wanting to turn around and face the bandits. "Don't move, or bullets will have no eyes," a rough male voice rang in her ears, and her body was grabbed.

Before she could speak, a very familiar voice rang out, "Lei, you can't hurt her. Let her go, we'll just knock her out."

It was him… Nan Yi broke out in a cold sweat, what bad luck.

"What, you've become so chivalrous after just two months here? That's not like you, buddy."

“Ray, stop talking. We’ve got the stuff. Hurry up and throw it. Don’t hurt her,” Jason urged again.

He didn't want to hurt the girl. He had taken a liking to her the moment he saw her, and if it weren't for his mission, he really wouldn't want to leave.

While the two brothers were still leisurely joking around, the security guards searched the area and found Nan Yi being held hostage, so they surrounded the three of them.

"Put down the hostage, and we will not pursue your theft. You will be released safely."
