Hades found it slightly amusing, and even though he pretended to be completely indifferent, a hint of pride still shone in his eyes. "I don't know, but with my permission, you may enter."
"Alright, enough talk, just ask."
Hades made a hand gesture, then stretched out his hand. A golden light flashed, and a golden book automatically floated above his palm.
Just as Hades was about to open it, a sudden change occurred. Countless golden books flew over at the same time, all crashing down on Ziwei Star Lord. Ziwei Star Lord was unable to dodge in time and was bruised and battered, his clothes were even torn. The once high and mighty god, revered by countless immortals and ghosts, instantly fell from his pedestal, looking utterly disheveled.
Hades was dumbfounded and extremely surprised, only to see the golden book return to its original position.
Ziwei Xingjun came to his senses, rubbing his face and hissing in the air, but dared not speak out in anger. Fengtian Temple was very strange, and he dared not offend it. However, he couldn't understand what he had done to offend the temple so much that it would beat him so badly.
"Hiss?—Look, it's over, let's go," he quickly reminded her. Ziwei tried to use a spell to hide the injury on her face, but it was ineffective, which made Hades chuckle.
As the golden book was unfurled, a line of eight characters appeared: "The sword of wisdom severs affection, worldly ties vanish like smoke."
Ziwei was shocked and stunned, and murmured, "How could this be? How could this be?"
The two walked out of the hall. Ziwei Xingjun was distraught, the words flashing through his mind. He was torn between disbelief and the belief that the divine decree could not be wrong. He was filled with resentment and his expression changed constantly. Regret, remorse, and pain surged into his heart, making him feel as if his heart was being torn apart. He thought that if he had a chance to do it all over again, he would never let it happen.
Even if you had a second chance, things wouldn't change.
A gentle, soft female voice rang out, and the two turned around abruptly. They saw a golden lotus floating in mid-air, slowly blooming. A fairy in a golden cloud-patterned robe stepped on the lotus and floated through the air. The cloud-patterned robe moved without wind, and six-colored lotus petals surrounded her. When the woman stopped in front of them, Ziwei was stunned for a moment, then suddenly came to her senses, her face showing shame. It wasn't that the woman was particularly beautiful; what drew attention to her up close was not her appearance, but the holy aura surrounding her, especially the small golden lotus on her forehead, which automatically stretched and changed its graceful posture.
"Who is the fairy?"
Having lived in the Immortal Realm for many years, she had never heard of such a person, even after racking her brains.
"I sit upon the Buddha on a golden lotus," the voice was gentle and soft. Hades chuckled to himself, another person deceived by the golden lotus's appearance, unaware of what she would do upon seeing her true face...
Ziwei Xingjun had a strange expression, yet he had no choice but to stand solemnly. The fact that the Buddha sitting on the golden lotus was a woman was something he found hard to accept.
Jinlian chuckled lightly, "Ziwei, why haven't you returned to your position yet? When will you return?"
Ziwei Star Lord paused for a moment, and upon hearing her question, frowned sadly and said, "With karmic ties unresolved, how can you return to your place?"
Jinlian calculated with her fingers, a hint of pity appearing in her eyes, and said softly, "Even if you had a chance to start over, the ending would still be the same. Is there anything to regret?"
Ziwei shook his head repeatedly, "No, no, I don't believe it, and I won't let it happen." He would never let this happen again. If he had the chance, he would definitely be able to continue his relationship with her. To hell with the Qingqiu princess.
Jinlian sighed softly, her expression filled with even more sorrow and pity. The word "love" is the most hurtful, as it was for Qinglian and Ziwei, but she was an emotionless being and did not understand why people were so stubbornly deluded, not even the God-King.
"Very well, I'll give you a second chance. If the outcome remains the same, return to your position immediately. How about it?" Jinlian suggested, as if she were talking about something trivial and insignificant.
Ziwei was overjoyed and nodded vigorously. He was so happy that he was momentarily at a loss for what to do. Before he could make any further move, Jinlian raised her hand and waved, and Ziwei Xingjun disappeared from the sky in an instant.
Hades frowned, annoyed that Jinlian had acted on her own initiative, and questioned, "Qinglian will not be happy with this." As a rival in love, he was jealous of Ziwei Xingjun, yet he had not been able to take advantage of such an opportunity.
Jinlian gave him a teasing smile, as if she could see through his thoughts. When he blushed and became extremely annoyed, she slowly said after a long while, "You go too."
Hades was slightly taken aback upon hearing this, his expression a mixture of joy and worry.
"What about the underworld?" He wanted to go, but he couldn't let go of his responsibilities. He was born for the underworld, and if he ruined the cycle of reincarnation for his own selfish reasons, that would be the result he didn't want to see.
"It's alright, King of the Underworld. A hundred years in the mortal realm is but a fleeting moment. Besides, the Bodhisattva is here, so there won't be any trouble. Go in peace." Jinlian said casually. King of the Underworld pondered for a moment, thought it was feasible, and then went to give his last instructions.
After Hades left, Golden Lotus frowned and gazed at a point in the void, her voice soft and tender with affection, "Come out."
As soon as she finished speaking, ripples spread across the dim and empty surroundings, as if carrying invisible anger. They drifted to Jinlian and slowly condensed, revealing a beautiful but not seductive woman in green robes. She glared angrily, her delicate face unusually tense.
"Why did you do this? Tell me the reason." She hated that man so much, yet she still gave him a chance; it was ridiculous.
Jinlian ignored the questioning, stroked her face, and gently explained, "I said the ending will not change. However, Ziwei's delayed return to his position may cause changes. If he does not give up and sever his feelings, you will also be unable to advance further and join the ranks of immortals because of his obsession."
"I don't want to waste my time on him," Qinglian refused, her face full of resentment. Using her as a pawn to help Ziwei achieve his goals? Where in the world is there such a good thing?
Jinlian pondered for a moment, her eyes flickering slightly. The lotus flower blooming on her forehead became even more eerie and alluring, but she uttered a sentence that only they could understand, "After you come back, I will tell you where he is." She had originally planned to tell her, but this happened, so she had to postpone it.
Qinglian suddenly looked at her, her furious tone abruptly softening as if incredulous, and softly asked, "Really?"
Her eyes were fixed on Jinlian, her body trembling slightly until Jinlian nodded, and she walked away in a daze as if she had lifted a thousand-pound burden.
After seeing Qinglian off, Jinlian prepared to return to Mount Ling, but was stopped by a compassionate voice, "Jinlian, the karma has been created, what do you intend to do?" A bodhisattva in a kasaya stopped not far away and stared at her.
Jinlian turned around, looked at the person in the distance, and sighed, "Bodhisattva, Jinlian doesn't know, but the Buddha instructed that the underworld be temporarily entrusted to you, Bodhisattva." Although she said this, she had another plan in her heart. If she had taken it, she would take it and then return it.
The Bodhisattva glanced at her with loving kindness, then departed in an instant.
At the Western Paradise, on Mount Ling, she cried out, "Buddha, Golden Lotus..." She didn't know what to say. She had harbored selfish thoughts and thus incurred karmic consequences.
The Buddha sighed softly. Although he was the ancestor of all Buddhas, he also had his troubles. The only thing that troubled him was the golden lotus in the world.
He said that if one lays down the butcher's knife, one can become a Buddha on the spot. However, even though Jinlian's cultivation increased, her nature remained unchanged, and she still failed to become a Buddha. Jinlian was born without feelings.
"Since the Azure Lotus has descended to the mortal realm, you too should take this journey."
