Chapter 10 Are you playing dumb with me?

Su Er responded with a "hey," and was just about to open the car door when her phone vibrated in her palm.

Su Er looked down and was stunned by that one glance. For a moment, she even wondered if she was hallucinating from hunger.

Jiang Siyan.

That's right, those three words are displayed on the phone screen.

“Sister Er’er…”

Su Er subconsciously turned her phone screen away. "You get in the car first, Uncle Chen. Please wait a moment, I need to take this call."

After saying that, she took her phone and walked away a bit.

He only answered the phone after confirming that he could no longer hear her voice inside the car.

Su Er spoke in a formulaic manner, "Hello."

The clear voice sounded like that of a trained customer service representative, while Jiang Siyan's tone was much more relaxed as he casually called out, "Miss Su."

Su Er didn't intend to start a conversation, and simply replied, "Mr. Jiang."

"Do you still remember me?" Jiang Siyan asked her teasingly, but his tone was clearly not one of inquiry.

Su Er complimented, "Mr. Jiang is hard to forget."

The conversation fell into a stalemate. Jiang Siyan rarely felt so frustrated. He took a drag of his cigarette in annoyance and asked, "Don't you have anything to say?"

What did she say? Clothes? Dinner party? Bringing up this topic makes it sound like she's guilty.

Su Er lowered her head, fiddling with the buttons on her coat, and squeezed out a question: "Mr. Jiang, how have you been lately...?"

Jiang Siyan was taken aback by her words. He didn't seem to be at the age where he needed to be checked on every now and then.

The person on the other end of the phone coughed lightly, whether from choking or anger, it was hard to tell.

Su Er suddenly realized that her casual greeting was actually quite appropriate.

The wind blew her hair across her face, and just as Su Er was about to reach out to brush it away, she heard a deep, questioning voice in her ear, "Su Er, are you playing dumb with me?"

For a moment, Su Er did feel a little regret for her previous impulsiveness.

How could she possibly think that such a privileged person was easy to talk to?

Su Er closed her eyes, already thinking about how to apologize in a humble manner.

However, contrary to her prediction.

Before she could apologize, a low sigh came from the other end of the phone, a hoarse voice filled with endless grievances, "It seems I'm still not good enough. Miss Su's meal is really hard to come by."
